So upon running into the collector drone in Fires of Creation, the party I'm running for found that their weapons were mostly ineffective against its hardness. Instead, three of them jumped the thing, pinned it, and tied it up. They went through the convoluted process of hauling it out through the lake, and while obviously there are NPCs who want to take it from them without paying them a damn thing, how much do you think a functional robot would sell for? That's the kind of thing the technic league demands a monopoly on, right?

The cost of robots is mentioned in "Ecology of the Robot," pages 68-73 of the 6th module, The Divinity Drive. On page 73, it lists a collector robot as worth 60,000 gp. However, that robot is currently hostile, which might reduce its selling price below 30,000 gp, to say 20,000 gp. That would give them 5,000 gp each, but they probably won't have time to sell that robot before 4th level, so the wealth would be beyond expectations but not outrageous.
Yes, the Technic League tries to keep a monopoly on robots. They are happy to buy robots, but they would ask questions about where the robot came from. If the party does not want the Technic League moving into Torch to claim the ruins beneath the town, don't talk to them. Of course, if Sanvil Trent hears about the collector robot, then he will tell the Technic League. Fortunately, the party would probably leave Torch for the next module before the Technic League searches for them.
An alternative is that Trent could act as a go-between for selling the robot to the Technic League. I imagine that with a sizeable bribe, say 10,000 gp, he would keep quiet about the origin of the robot.
