What the titles says: do we have all the core races announced as yet? Or are we still missing some?
They've announced the following races: Human, Lashunta, Kasatha, Android, and Ratfolk/ysoki. We have two that are unnanounced.

I'm pretty excited to hear more about the Kasatha after Iron Gods.
They're very flavorful, and are basically nonexistant on Golarian, so their presence in Starfinder is likely from outside of Golarian's solar system. Since their world was basically stone age at the point the Destiny passed through and picked up the few that came to Golarian, it'll be interesting to see what their culture and civilization became in the intervening time.

Maybe starting next month (or the one after that). Apparently the beast of a tome gets sent to the printers some time this month.
In all likelihood some feedback will occur, then last minute editing, then a lot of the team will likely cash in some vacation time. Or collapse in moaning, twitching heaps and wish they could.

** spoiler omitted **
I get the impression that Starfinder is around 12,000 years after the Androffa Epoch, possibly more and maybe, just maybe a little less but 12K seems about right from what timelines we can piece together. 10K at a bare minimum anyways. So its possible that the Kasatha have not only developed a completely different society but that their racial modifiers have changed after no longer needing to live in tribal, hunter-gatherer groups. Given that almost every race we are expecting from Core is a member of an extremely advanced society i wonder how common mental stat and dex boosts will be over STR/CON boosts. And is there a mechanism to reflect a system of higher learning at all?

Star flumphs would be great.
Make it a core race, 2017.
As noted, we have 2 yet to formally announced.
The grammar nazis have arrived. "We have 2 races yet to formally ANNOUNCED." This should either be ANNOUNCE, or you need to add a "be" (making it "yet to BE formally announced")

races explained:That being said, Kasatha stats are op (4 arms and no natural penalties, +2 dex and con I believe) and ratfolk have a "Swarming" racial ability that make them pretty fun to use. Lashunta = humans with some minor differences (males=dwarves, females=elves), androids are androids.
They said something about some of the races being more powerful in SF than they were/are in PF, so...

I'm hoping for playable Contemplatives. I must be weird atrophied brain creature. I demand it!
That Free RPG Day product Starfinder First Contact has this in its blurb: "Player-race information to let you be the alien, from the atrophied psychic creatures called contemplatives to the bug-like haan who float across gas giants on balloons of spun webbing."
So Contemplatives probably won't be a core race but will be in the game as playable aliens.

The newly announced Alien Archive also mentions something like them as well.

And this setting may have a different concept of what is considered balanced as well -- for example, melee combat ability may have less value given the power of the ranged weapons that PCs are likely to carry.
The paizo demonstration session in January does not support this. The ranged weapons were woeful all around. 1d4+0 for all pew-pews, except the droid's slugthrower.

Do you recall anyone doing any better with melee attacks? I do not recall anyone making anything but ranged attacks.
But I do recall seeing 9-level spellcasters described as not being balanced for the setting, as full spellcasting does not leave enough room for other capabilities that Starfinder adventurers are expected to have.

The solarion was doing d6+2 (or thereabouts) with his class specific energy blade, by and large he only engaged in melee. He also took full actions to attack twice, something no one did with guns, but which the technomancer did with magic missile, to get a third missile. Given that they were apparently 2nd level, having 2 missiles base was interesting in its own right.
The mechanic had a booster ability for his gun (+1d6, but used more ammo, used once) and the technomancer had a big damage booster spell (+4d6, but halved due to it being used with an area attack, which was a spray fired by the drone's slug thrower). She also shot/cast energy rays at things that did d6, but they struck me as being very similar to the cleric's fire/water/etc domain powers that give energy rays.
Based on very little, I suspect the solarion's energy blade damage is the monk/ war priest damage progression, but that is just speculation on my part.

Is the RPG world really ready for Sgt. Frog?
I doubt any world is truly ready for those nutjobs.

I want Catfolk.....just so I can use this Figure:Clipper
While you're waiting for Starfinder, you can still play a Small catfloof in Pathfinder.

Yay! Wait... this might be too much for me, is the second tongue a cyborg implant, split tongue as some humans do, genetic manipulation or blessing from a god of chaos? Cuase i am not down for like... maybe one of those options.
... Picturing smug Space Frog who is always smiling and fights with arms crossed as they tongue-pistol blast and tongue-pistol whip enemies....

Well, as far as announcements go and in addition to today's blog entry on the Vesk, the Paizo Twitter account revealed this image.

I don't think that is a "space cat".
