Applying Credit for Adventure Paths

Dark Archive 1/5

I am looking to run a group through the Iron Gods adventure path, using pregen characters.

Right now their Society characters are on the verge of hitting 5th level, while the first chronicle sheet is level 2-4.

Can they apply the credit from the sheet if they hit 5th level before we start the adventure? All I have seen is about playing up or down for Society scenarios.

Unfortunately, no. If that happens and their main PFS characters get to level 5, they'll have to apply those sheets to other Society characters.

This situation does sometimes happen--I have a couple of characters I'm not playing, so they can benefit from the next AP chronicles if/when we get there. I'm sure other people do too.

When you're applying AP credit, characters are eligible based on when you're handing the sheets out--not when you started the book, not when you started the sanctioned portion of the book.

If you apply the sheet to a character in the level range, they immediately get the listed benefits from the chronicle sheet.

If you apply the sheet to a character below the level range, they won't get the benefits until they level up into the level range. In this case, a level 1 character wouldn't benefit from the sheet until they got to level 2, at which point they'd get the benefits of the chronicle.

You can't assign a sheet to a higher-level character--in this case, with a 2-4 sheet, you can't assign it to a level 5 or higher character.

That's how things usually work. There are a few other options I'm not digging into for simplicity's sake, like converting chronicle sheets to level 1 sheets with reduced gold rewards.
