Non-Core Race Random Background Tables

Homebrew and House Rules

A recent thread reminded me of the one thing I wished that Ultimate Campaign had delved into, non-core race backgrounds, and so I decided a thread for developing tables for several races would be a pleasant activity.

I'll be starting off with my personal favorite race: Tieflings.

Tiefling

Tiefling Homeland

d% | Result
1-40 | Port Spawn: You grew up in the seedy port district of a city. You gain access to the River Rat Regional Trait.
41-80 | Weak Veil: You grew up in the lands where the barrier between the planes are weak or non-existant. You gain access to the Scholar of the Great Beyond Faith Trait.
81-86 | Rural: You grew up in a rural town where things like your birth shouldn't happen. Gain access to the Friendless and Ever Wary Race Traits.
87-95 | Far-Flung: You grew up at the edges of civilization. Gain access to the Frontier-Forged Regional Trait.
96-100 | Extraplanar: You grew up outside the material plane. Gain access to the Blessing of Darkness Race Trait.

Tiefling Parents

d% | Result
1-15 | Both Parents Alive and Non-Tieflings
16-30 | Both Parents Alive and Tieflings
31-36 | Both Parents Alive, one Tiefling and one Non-Tiefling
37-50 | Only father is alive. Gain access to Motherless Race Trait.
51-75 | Adopted
76-80 | Only mother is alive.
81-90 | Both parents Dead. Gain access to the Orphaned Social Trait
91-100 | One parent alive and one parent unknown.

Tiefling Siblings

d% | Result
1-40 | 1d3 siblings, all non-tieflings. With two or more siblings you gain access to the Inciter Race Trait.
41-65 | 1d6+1 siblings, 1d2 are tieflings. Gain the Inciter Race Trait.
66-75 | 1d3 Tiefling siblings. With two or more siblings you gain access to the Inciter Race Trait.
76-100 | No siblings.

Dotted for interest! Tieflings are my favorite race too.
