EDIT: Ninja'd by Joana!

Here, under "Mythic" on the left hand side of the screen the link takes you to.

You can find the PRD on the left hand side of the forum (the screen you're looking at now) by scrolling down to below the Search option. Under "PATHFINDER ®" it's got the "Adventure Card Game" and two entries, and below that, "Pathfinder Roleplaying Game" and the "Rules Archive (PRD)" which, when clicked, is what I linked to.

Mythic is simply a method of adding More Power to your game.

Though very different, it's Paizo's answer to Epic levels in 3rd Edition and 3.5; effectively, you gain special unique abilities and follow a mythic "path" made up of up to ten tiers, though you can never have more tiers than half of your level.

Each tier comes with generic benefits, and also special powers based on your path. There are unique monsters, and templates.

It can push CRs all the way up to 30 or even higher by its power.

It's also subtly complex.

EDIT: To clarify a bit more, it's not a setting, it's an optional suite of game rules that increases the over-all power of everything.

I would describe it like this:

Mythic rules are an optional subsystem that exists in addition to the traditional level structure. Mythic characters can access a wide array of powers, that allow them have in and out of combat options, that aren't available to non-mythic characters.

It is intended to allow players to replicate the epic feats of characters of legendary status. Examples of mythic abilities are: a fighter that can grab and defelect a ray with his bare hand, a rogue getting the ability to become invisible at will, a spellcaster gaining the ability to cast any spell on their spell list without having to prepare or know them.

Mythic rules can be used for a variety of things, some GMs might chose to reward their players with mythic tiers rather than class levels. This can result in more powerful characters, without access to certain high level abilities. That can be very useful.

They can also be used to improve monsters, and create memorable challenging encounters.
