I'm assuming you were given a card with your PFS number on it?
If you click "my account" at the top, you'll be taken to a page with a bunch of account options and links and buttons.
Scroll down and you'll see (on the left side) a header of "pathfinder society" there you should find your link to join the society and after clicking that will have the spot to put in your code.

You think you only need the confirm code if someone hands you a card. To get a number, right click "pathfinder society" on the upper left side of the screen. At the bottom of the paragraph in the middle of the page is "join the pathfinder society now" - I can't walk you through the rest of the steps because i already have a number. let me know if this doesn't work.
