I personally am far less annoyed with Seoni's outfit than I am with any character wearing boobplate. Seoni is a sorceress whose class features do encourage drawing her with a lack of armor. Though she is a "Ms. Fanservice" character, it doesn't come off as mind-numbingly stupid as putting a fighter in boobplate.
One note on Seoni - she needs better support for the girls, there. I mean, everyday walking is going to get pretty uncomfortable with her just hanging there, and she's not doing herself any favors for her future - they will begin sag without some support. It's the one thing I just can't avoid thinking every time I see a drawing of Seoni's outfit. Even prestidigitation isn't an explanation - those things definitely weigh more than a pound total!

Ms. Door is absolutely right!

The Paizo community needs to take up a collection to buy Seoni a proper bodice. Not only will this increase her personal comfort, but the proper support for her “girls” can actually enhance her “Fanservice” role.

I object on the grounds that it infringes on Feiya's look and I don't want to have to choose which of them wears it better.

I was gonna say the answer is mage hand, but then i realized that there are several flaws with that. Firstly, the spell requires concentration so shecan only support one at a time. Second I don't believe the objects are unattended at any point. Third, they're certainly not non-magical.

Levitation then.

She does have magical tattoos. Perhaps one is a permanent mage hand that lifts and separates.

Even so, she should seriously have some kind of support.

Unseen Servant... MUCH better duration... and failing that, I'm available.

As it is, I would think doing just about anything within line of sight of her would require a concentration check - and I wouldn't say with absolute certainty that they aren't magical...

Honestly though, while Seoni's are 'featured' more, Feiya's might be the more impressive, if not by much.

That is the thing though.

In addition to being more comfortable, A bodice can be worn to "present" the breasts (such as by minimizing the blouse normally worn under the garment), which is a definite enhancement.

According to recent research, the idea that going without a bra causes sagging is actually incorrect. In fact, wearing a bra/bodice may cause Seoni's "girls" to become saggier over time. http://www.livescience.com/28664-bras-make-breasts-sag.html

Interesting though that may be, it is highly unlikely to convince Mrs. Alleran to spend less of Mr. Alleran's money on her bra collection.

Well, it's just one study, so I'd say it's premature to make real-world decisions based on this information just yet. It's interesting to learn that breastfeeding may be unrelated to sagging though; it sounds like this is really more about muscle development and maintenance than external support. Also, apparently smoking has a negative impact as well.

FWIW, I think that even if we set aside fanservice, Seoni has one of the more unique outfits of the iconics. There are so many details in there. I mean, she's wearing half of a pair of pants, but only below the knee. She's wearing sleeves, but only below the elbow. She's got this giant WWF-size belt, plus straps to hold vials and stuff. And somehow, she also has a familiar that almost never gets illustrated (it's in her statblock, and appears in the Player Companion on familiars and animal companions).

She's a tattooed sorceror. Her familiar is one of her tattoos.

EDIT: Dang it! Ninja'd! As always! :)

On the familiar (the only thing I really have any expertise on in this silly, humorous thread), Seoni is a Varisian Tattooed archetype, if I recall correctly, meaning her familiar is actually usually a tattoo (and how convenient!), thus avoiding the need to illustrate it.

Sure, that doesn't explain the illustrations before the archetype existed, but, you know... artists amirite?

(Going back to lurking and raising an eyebrow at the lowbrow humor, only to share with my wife later. :))

And at any rate, her chest has clearly been shrinking over time (compare old pictures of her with newer pictures and it's pretty clear), so if the trend continues she probably won't have to worry about sagging in a few more years.

Magic that made her breasts more visible (or more accurately attention attracting) slowly dissipated?

Or maybe Feiya put a curse on her... Somebody with the books check the time correlation between appearance of witch class and size of Seoni breast. For the sake of science magic of course!

A bodice might be ambitious.

Let's start small. How about some pants?

A discussion of how she keeps her outfit on at all concluded with "A wizard did it", though "Sovereign Double-Sided Tape" was advanced as a possibility at one point.

If there are any artists in the crowd y'all should do The Hawkeye Initiative for Pathfinder. I want to see Ezren wearing Seoni's clothes and vice-viscera, or Valeros swapping kit with Sillvari.

Would a Valeros/Amiri costume swap make more sense? Ezren has kind of a dull outfit, too; how about a Seoni/Seltyiel costume swap?

Ayup (here's an image of it - also one of my favourite Seoni pictures).

Really, the way that huge diamond corset/belt-buckle/whatever seems to be drawn (usually, anyway), it seems to be keeping most of that red dress in place as an anchor. If it was torn off, I'd imagine that the cloth left behind would quickly fall loose/fall off or similar, since there wouldn't be much left that it's attached to.

First off, I am 110% okay with Senoi's Ms. Fanservice role. This is why I chose the bodice links I did above.

But ... (looking at what young women wear at renfairs) I was looking for something that an "intentionally sexy" young woman might actually wear.

As to her legs, I know she wants to display her body art, but a slit skirt might work better.

Lord Fyre wrote:

Why not transparent or mostly-transparent fabric for the skirt? That way, she can display her body art and have a skirt. Best of both worlds.

Alazra and Ezren should so switch outfits. And Valeros and Feiya.

Mostly because of the expense. Remember she has that dress from 1st Level.

But also, a basic level of "realism." :)

Thing is, poor Seoni is truly an unlucky woman. She really did want to cover her body decently, but she just couldn't afford it. So, she got as much fabric as she could buy, let her hair grow out to cover her back, got a few kettles and stuff to cover her wrists and throat, and even tried to cover up the rest of her skin with tattoos, all in the name of decency. She is deeply jealous of Ezren's robe, at least if you look carefully at her glances in pictures with both of them I think that's clear. Especially her breasts are a sensitive point, since her adventuring loot could simply never let her cover their impressive size. Fabric ain't cheap.

And despite this soul-numbing poverty, Seoni remains a positive, strong woman.

In a world where people can fly, violate the second law of thermodynamics, turn into animals and back again, create food and water out of thin air...?

But okay. If it's expensive, then how about she just casts an Extended Disguise Self? It should save on monetary costs.

We know that Seoni exploits her good looks. So she might actually do something like this, but I doubt that she would waste magic on such a thing. Likewise, at low levels a magic dress that did this would be prohibitively expensive.

This circles back to the question: "What does a well-dressed Varisian wear?"

Not at all, since a hat of disguise is only 1800 gold. Or 900 if she makes it personally, less if she decides to limit its use further (entirely reasonable when you frequently travel and/or interact with people whose primary occupation is killing people, taking their stuff, or both).

And we need to make allowance for the display of the maximum amount of her tattoos. Given the pain involved in acquiring them, I don't think that should all be for nothing. See this example that I examined in pursuit of this:

Childhood

Clearly demonstrated is the pain that the tattoos themselves inflicted in the process of their application. I would also note that the depiction of her dress without the belt to hold it in place appears to bear out my theory regarding the makeup of Seoni's clothing, in that the belt is necessary to keep everything together and prevent the front from simply turning into a scarf or sash.

A disguise self (or even a limited application of it) should be at the ready for strategic deployment on an as-needed basis, but display of hard-won markers of status should not be infringed.

The Varisian Tattoo Magic stuff requires that you actually touch the tattoo the activate it. Transparent fabric over the tattoos would interfere with the functionality. As would pants.

Hmmm... how about a corset?

No. Too many Error: Impossible concept.
