Race boon as incentive for GMing

I got one of those Kitsune/Wayang/Nagaji race boons at a con recently, but since I have not particular desire to use any of those races, I plan on using it as an incentive to get people in my local PFS group to GM. Does anyone have suggestions on how to implement this?

I was thinking either:
1) Give it to the first person to GM 3 games, or
2) Make it a random drawing, in which each game someone GMs counts as one entry.

Thoughts?

Maybe for their first GM star?

Both sound like excellent ideas. Your players will very likely be all over it.

Personally, I would go with #2, and make it a 6 week contest. That will give them time and incentive to GM as much as possible, and create a "weighted" lottery. Throw in a couple other prizes (you pay for a scenario PDF, a cool new dice bag/set of dice, or add in some of the more common boons) so that there isn't just a single winner.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You could add the Character Folio to that list of prizes; lots of folks would be all over that, I imagine.

That's way too high a target. It would take 5 months of non-stop GMing at our current rate, so they would likely just dismiss it as too hard.

first to GM 3 games keeps it simple and reasonable... Don't forget to keep the ongoing scores out where everyone can see them as that is your motivator metric.

I´m with Jiggy here, first GM star is a good choice. For a lot of people, race boons or any boons like that are hard to come by. 3 games seem to view there. Also with 10 games they have more incentive to bring other people to gaming and perhaps the games rate will increase.

Liberty's Edge 1/5

Yeah, I'd take a race boon from previous years as a reward for hitting tier one. Only eight more sessions, and I'd be someone (or thing) special.

Liberty's Edge 5/5 **

I like the idea of something exclusive but not necessarily game mechanic related.

The last thing I think we want is people DMing with the sole purpose of unlocking some character optimization perk.
