I wanted to give you some notice that I will be away this weekend. Pretty close to 24 hours after this post--around 1PM EDT on Friday in the US--I will be leaving for the weekend, returning sometime on Sunday. I probably won't resume posting until my usual time on Monday morning.

GM Merisial the risen |

My apologies when the GM posts slowly it encourages others to post slowly and game slows to a crawl which does not help the roleplay. After the post above I mentally parked the game somewhat hoping to pick up speed this week

![]() |

Hi all, this is a heads-up that I'm in a wedding tomorrow, and will be leaving work soon to get ready for the rehearsal/dinner. Given that I'm never good at posting on weekends, that means I probably won't post again until Monday. If I'm holding things up, feel free to bot me.

![]() |

Oh yeah, you all reminded me.
My wife and I are actually taking the family on a vacation in a week (starting the 20th). I honestly don't expect it to slow posting down as our idea of a vacation is to rent a cabin in the mountains with wifi and just enjoy having very few responsibilities.
So we'll probably be fine to post daily.

Hi all, sorry for my disappearance. My mother has had a health emergency and things are not good; she’s now in Hospice care. I’m going to do my best to be as present as possible to finish this scenario—goodness knows I’ll relish the distraction at times—but there will likely be more unexpected absences along the way. Please don’t hesitate to bot me, and thanks for the understanding. I’ll start catching up in Gameplay tomorrow.

I am so sorry. We will be thinking of you and your family during this difficult time.

GM Merisial the risen |

oops thought i'd bumped this along but too tired to repost now. Also may be a little busy this weekend hope to pick this up on monday

I'm guessing that this mission would easily cover the following faction journal card goal?
Recover blackmail or incriminating evidence against a named NPC ambassador, aristocrat, noble, or similar figure.

So, as the summer is here (for me at least) and school is out for a bit, I am happy to run the next session. Did we have one in mind, or barring that, any requests?

![]() |

Hmmm...
Well, we do need to head back into Gloomspires. And Dimple does really hate that place, so it might make sense if you are the one that runs the next one.
If not, I'll probably run it after whatever is run next so we don't level out of part 2.

GM Merisial the risen |

Well that was a season 0 scenario and in truth it was a 1-5 I don't think the high tier was set up properly 4 4th level rogues and a 6th level (with a dip into rogue for evasion) sorceror whose only 3rd level spell is suggestion isn't a proper encounter for 4 level 6 pcs. So I threw the 5 spider swarms that were to show up when you tripped the trap out side and added them to the two spiders and two ettercaps that were in the cave and then threw in the pirates (stated tactics for suggestion either 1Pick on other pirate not me or 2 go home nothing to risk your life for here). So even with that condensing of encounters it was a cake walk. But even hasted they would be falling 2 maybe even three at a time to Shade
bottom line I tried to make it more interesting without running exactly as intended. If my dice had run hot I may have had to bring in more bickering between the pirates to compensate for their early introduction but you had taken no damage and it got things finished a little bit quiker

Swarms would have been tougher if we didn't have multiple casters with multiple AoE spells.
Niza didn't even have to bust out her lightning bolt and Cenae had two sound bursts left. I'm sure Dimple had some left and I know Kasvot had more burning spheres. Sometimes high powered spells just dominate encounters that would run quite differently against a spell-less group.
But season zero's tend to be famous for not quite having difficulty figured out. Either being meat grinders or vice versa.
I honestly appreciate you trying to make some stuff interesting for us when you noticed it would be a super easy cakewalk.

Enough talk here are
Stormy I used your 3387 number from the last adventure not sure where the 350097 came from
Any errors let me know

![]() |

Mine looks good. Leveled up. Now I just need to save up for a couple of those handy MM wands.

![]() |

Kasvot gets a level-up too. I'll probably need the weekend to get to that. Any preferences for a new 3rd level spell? He gets deep slumber with his bloodline, and already has the always-useful haste.

![]() |

Cenae has fireball, daylight, invisibility purge and prayer prepared at that level. Stormy has Call Lightning and two pet buffs prepared. Niza has lightning bolts with either water breathing or daylight prepared, as the situation demands. Dimple has just gotten to that level so no clue.
Dispel Magic is always useful, situationally. Stinking Cloud and Sleet Storm are nice control methods, though also super situational. Deep Slumber might actually cover those situations though. Tongues could be useful but of course a scroll of that could cover it as well. Hold Person is nasty, but you already have blindness. Displacement could make Shade more like their name and even more amazing as a tank. Vampiric Touch is a nice two-way spell but requires melee. Fly would be nice. Cenae had to buy a potion of that just in case it is necessary soon.

![]() |

Updated and ready to go wherever. It was good having Stormy and Shade along, it's taken a burden off Niza to not have to worry about 'being the tank'.

![]() |

Good summary Cenae. Sorcerers need versatility in their spells since they cannot swap them out easily. You will not regret Fly and Dispel Magic is a must in a party for at least one caster. Not sure that has to be you but it will come up.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

So it sounds like we are leaning towards #7-19 The Labyrinth of Hungry Ghosts (3-7) before some of us level out.
#8-15 Hrethnar's Throne is a 5-9, so plenty of time.
#10-17 On Sevenfingers's Sails being the 7-11 'capstone' to the series.

![]() |

Okay. Give me a couple of days to purchase the scenario and give it a read.

![]() |

Sounds like a great plan, thanks!

![]() |

Picked up the scenario and prepping it now. Will start a new thread tomorrow.
Looks like we are high tier, correct?

![]() |

For sure.

Looks like Stormy is the only one we are waiting on. LGZ is doing well IRL, though they don't think they will return to PbP very soon.

Hmmm...
I was almost 100% positive I saw Arboreal on the list of characters when I last looked. But at least now Stormy is here, yay!
