Have you been itching to hit a convention this coming spring without breaking your wallet? Well, look no further than central California's newest gaming convention that is absolutely FREE!

BookWyrm Con 2013
March 9-10, 2013

Hosted by the Fresno County Public Library, BWC'13 will be taking place at one of the biggest and nicest libraries in the central valley. Four slots with multiple tables of PFS will be the highlight of the convention, in addition to numerous other game systems such as Call of Cthulu, Star Wars: Edge of the Empire, and Legend of the Five Rings. In addition, all of our GMs, volunteers, and out-of-towners will be invited to a special 5th slot off-site that is exclusive to our helpers!

All you need to do is register for the games you want on Warhorn and you're set!

The Holiday Inn Express and Extended Stay America hotels are fairly close to the library and affordable as well. Plus, there are many great food options directly across the street from the con.

We hope to see many of you there!

Silver Crusade 4/5

I'll be there. Now I gotta drag some fellow SoYo members with me. And figure out what we're going to do too.

Grand Lodge 5/5

We'll definitely be there!

Grand Lodge 5/5 *

We've officially submitted for boon support, so we can expect some great boons to potentially be earned for our con attendees! Also, we're getting ready to announce some early registration perks for people that sign up on Warhorn early, so don't miss out.

Also, more games are being added to the schedule regularly. We've got more Call of Cthulu, plus a Werewolf: The Forsaken game as well. We've also got a number of other games in the finalization stages, such as Savage Worlds, Spirit of the Century and more, so check back regularly to see what else is new!

Grand Lodge 5/5 *

More new games have been added to our schedule! We've got a table of Werewolf: The Forsaken, in addition to Gamma World.

I'm also happy to announce that esteemed Pathfinder author/contributor Dennis Baker will be running his latest PFS scenario, "Feast of Sigils", for us!

Also, we will be one of the first conventions anywhere to offer the new Season 4 EX scenario, "Day of the Demon"! Come play it under one of our Venture-officers before most others get a chance to.

Liberty's Edge 5/5

Looking forward to seeing folks show up. The Fresno County Library system has been great to partner with. There's a local brewery next door and we're planning a pizza social after games on Saturday.

Silver Crusade 4/5

oooh.. What kind of after games? The SoYo Crew and I are very interested since we're only coming up on Sat unfortunately.. :(

Also, I am running The Sanos Abduction on Saturday! One of my favorite adventures, and the boon is rather excellent as well. You will not want to miss it!

Grand Lodge 5/5 *

This is coming up soon! We have TONS of free stuff to give away, including Pathfinder books, indie RPGs, awesome t-shirts, dice, and more.

The sooner people sign up for games, the more raffle tickets they receive and the greater the odds of winning. So, please take a look at our Warhorn and sign up today. We are all very excited and can't wait to see you all there.

Just noticed there are 8 people signed up at my table and even some repeat from the people I GMed at Pacificon. Guttons for punishment?

Dark Archive 2/5

No, just thirsty for more!

Shadow Lodge

Hmm, I might be able to make it for sunday, it's only a two hour drive.

Liberty's Edge 5/5

That would be great Dylos! We'd love to see you there.

Silver Crusade 4/5

BTW: My tables are a little lonely on Sat and Sunday... I'm running My Enemy's Enemy, The Sanos Abduction, and The Cyphermage Dilemma.. All new Season 4 Shinys! Don't wait till the last minute! Get signed up!!!

I'd love to make it, but I'm still in Iowa and going to Gamicon that weekend. Looking forward to seeing everybody in the Summer.

I'm still on the fence about showing up on Saturday. I'd love to be there Saturday afternoon and evening, if so it would likely be two more at your table Lady O.

AWESOME! Would love to host one of my favorite writers in PFS. :D What do I need to do to make this happen? Surely we can come to some sort of awesome agreement. :D

Diplomacy Check-1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18

Spoiler:
P.S: PFS Adventure Fangirl Moment--Can you sign my scenario copy of God's Market Gamble? It's one of my favorites!

Grand Lodge 5/5 *

Hint: The DC to improve an Ogre's disposition is reduced by 50 if presented with a bribe of hummus.

Silver Crusade 4/5

What kind of hummus? *Plans to bring*

The Exchange 2/5 RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, Contributor

I seem to recall it was 3I'd that was drooling conspicuously over the hummus. There were strange sounds and the claw that reached out to snatch the bowl was not particularly sloth-like either.

FWIW... I'm easy, you just have to use appeal to my bloated ego. Bribes of food are optional.

Silver Crusade 4/5

Done. (Don't worry Josh I will indeed bring you some hummus as part of your promotion gift :D)

Please oh beloved writer of all adventures awesome and cool, please come and sit at my table on Saturday. There will be hummus and other foods of deliciousness for your liking. (Cookies are a part.) There may also be coffee (if drinks are allowed).

Please consider :)

Shadow Lodge

Not to distract from Dennis' ego, but I have a question about the venue.

I have a 7 month old daughter, and it may prove difficult to get someone to watch her on the 10th, how well suited for children of her age would the library be, specifically where the games would be played. She's a good girl and usually pretty quiet and behaved, it's more of a question of if there's enough space near the tables.

I know it was mentioned that it was one of the biggest and nicest libraries in the central valley, so hopefully there's enough room.

Liberty's Edge 5/5

There should be plenty of space. We'll be happy to accommodate! Please feel free to bring her. I'll make sure she gets a PFS number. ;-)

Shhh! People aren't supposed to know my secret desires for hummus, or how I want to own a big swimming pool and fill it with hummus and swim around all day in it.

*ahem*

Now, if you could all please stare at the red light on this pen for a moment, everything will be fine.

Hello Dylos. I work for the library, and am helping concoct this madness known as the BookWyrm Con.

The meeting room we are in is huge and slightly seperated from the rest of the library. There should be plenty of room. The bathrooms are close by and I'm pretty sure there's a changing in there for the little ones. And the best thing about a free con is if you need to leave at anytime, it's no worries.

The main thing I'd mention is just keep in mind it is a public event and all the stuff that comes with that. But we hope you can make it.

And since people are talking food, I was able to get my hands on a huge coffee maker. So there will be tons of free coffee available for everyone.

I think she's a little young for a PFS number just yet, as she can't even compile sentences yet.

Also, is it just me or does the Thornkeep which was scheduled for Sunday keep disappearing, I swear I saw it yesterday, now I don't, and I swear I saw it disappear before then too.

Grand Lodge 5/5 *

The Forgotten Laboratory? I removed it as we didn't have any players or a GM at the time. But if you and any others are interested, I can certainly put it back on the schedule. I have a GM that has said they would run it.

Silver Crusade 4/5

Apologies, I've been told I am playing Dresden Files in the Saturday Afternoon slot so I won't be able to play at your table. I will be more than willing to sign anything you'd like though.

That's quite alright Master Baker. I personally am a fan of Dresden, so I can understand being beat by it. But... If you come to the pizza social, I am planning on running something awesome, new, and shinny.. So you may get another chance!

I shall bring my copies of all the things you have written for you to sign. They are actually our area library copies, so you will be giving your blessing to kill players (or at least terrify and maim them) to our regional society.

The Exchange 2/5 RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, Contributor

If it were just me, I'd play Pathfinder, but I have an awesome wife and letting her pick on occasion is one of those small things I can do for her.

I'll be at the Pizza Social. I'll probably bring my ever growing custom Cards.V.Humanity deck. I just realized the "Bacon" is not in the deck. How is that possible?

Good choice sir in letting Mistress Baker choose the game. But how is there no Bacon card in your Cards Against Humanity Deck? Guess this is where the blank white cards come in handy. :D

For those of you wondering what I will be bringing, to the Pizza Social, I will leave a hint: It has something to do with Tapestries..

Well, it's the only thing in time slot 1 my level 2 sorcerer could do and get credit (I've done goblin guild, and the character got GM credit for cyphermage) I could play a different character for slot 1 on sunday I suppose, but I doubt I'll get many chances to play Thornkeep as I can't make it out to the FLGS on saturdays for modules.

I'll likely have 1 more at least to sign up with me for Thornkeep, possibly 2 if we end up going (it's still not a sure thing at this point)

Sorry, Todd Morgan won't let me leave Iowa until I judge at least 2 more slots for him. I am attempting to complete my obligations at Gamicon, which is unfortunately the same weekend as Bookwyrm Con.

I am planning on sailing my pirate ship back to California in time for KublaCon at least.

Well, Todd Morgan is one I do not wish to reckon with.. So I guess you are forgiven for now. Besides, you will be back in time for me to run The Fabric of Reality again when Kubla comes around. Oooopps. Spoilers.

Ok, so due to full tables my options for slot 3 are, play a pregen for feast, play a character for Cyphermage (which I just GM'd friday), or create a new character for first steps (which is looking like it might not fire off anyway).

So yea, any chance that GM is still up for running The Forgotten Laboratory? All 3 of my characters are currently in the 2-4 range anyway, level 2 sorcerer, level 3 witch, and level 4 oracle.

Liberty's Edge 5/5

Most of the focus of this convention has been aimed at encouraging new players to join us. These new players are very unlikely to sign up on Warhorn. Instead, they will drift in and try to get involved.

We have two volunteers who will be routing these players to join games and to sign up for future slots they are interested in. So, while the First Steps game on Sunday at 8 AM doesn't currently show anyone signed up, it is our hope that this will change by Saturday.

It is much easier to introduce a brand new RPG player to the First Steps scenarios than the Thornkeep modules, which are more advanced and last quite a bit longer.

I'm sorry for the confusion. Originally, we did have the Thornkeep scenarios and quite a few high level scenarios. However, we realized that by doing so, we were catering to existing PFS members, but not to the target audience of brand new players we are hoping a convention at the library will attract.

If playing First Steps or Cyphermage do not sound appealing and you have played the other two low-level scenarios, perhaps try one of the other games offered during that slot:

• Scott Martin, who is running FATE is an amazing GM, who is a published game designer, a regular blogger on Ennie Award winning Gnome Stew, and owner of Crazy Squirrel Games in Fresno.

• Bill Kerney is another fantastic GM, running Legend of Five Rings. Bill has been an active player and GM in the Heroes of Rokugan campaign for quite a while. He runs a great table and is very good at working with new players who may not be used to the system or setting.

Well you can always play one you GMed... (As long as it's the first time) Just as long as it's not the same character that got the GM credit. And technically, you just told me you GMed it, so if you Meta-gamed you will be severely punished by being declined from taking part in the free Lumpia that I may or may not be ordering to entice players to play..

Is anyone interested in doing some miniature swapping? I have a bunch I'd like to trade/ sell/ whatever in preparation for... the massive influx at the end of the month.

Grand Lodge 5/5 *

I'll bring my collection with me. I know the main library coordinator, James Tyner, has a MASSIVE collection. I'll tell him as well!

The Exchange 2/5 RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, Contributor

Cool, then I'll spend some efforts putting together some good ones to trade. Lots of bloody and crazy horrorclix.

If anyone has any Heroes & Monsters skeletons they'd like to sell, I'm looking for perhaps half a dozen.

I won't be able to make it to Fresno (we run our tabletop game on the weekends), but maybe something could be arranged.

I would like to say thanks to everyone who came, played, and ran this weekend. I had a insane, but awesome adventuring party who had an awesome time gaming not only for Pathfinder but for Call of Cthulhu as well. It was definitely a trip to remember.
