Chartered Company: Deathwatch

Chartered Company Name: Deathwatch

Origin of Name: The Pathfinder Spell

Summary: A cohesive group of adventuring friends, most being very familiar with the powers of Necromancy.

Alignment: Likely to be True Neutral, however ultimately TBD.

Accepted Roles: While some of our core members may heavily lean towards arcane characters practicing Necromancy whenever available, we will need a variety of adventurers, builders, and crafters. The skills from every type of player character will hold value in this group, especially in the beginning months.

Purpose: We are primarily a close group of friends that have been through many adventures - both at the tabletop and in several previous MMOs - and we're officially gathering as the chartered company, Deathwatch, mostly to benefit from game mechanics in Pathfinder Online. However we'd like to extend an invitation to just about anyone who wishes to join us.

Location/Time: The majority of the core members are based in Arizona (GMT -7, no DST), with a few that have moved elsewhere in recent years. Due to varied work schedules and other factors, we will not begin with a defined time-of-day that we will all be playing. However, it's more likely you'll see us on during the evenings and nights, and of course playing more heavily during weekends.

Website/Voice: None currently, but we may develop a website and use some sort of Teamspeak, Ventrilo, or other voice chat system as needed.

Core Members: In no particular order (with character names subject to differ), here are our core group members:

  • Snow
  • Murael
  • Karthe
  • Aou
  • Pyro
  • Tealcataz
  • Hotsoup
  • Meniduull
  • Natahka
  • possibly more, unconfirmed core members

Other Notes: We do not aim to be a shining beacon upon a hill, nor do we wish to be the next army that swarms the battlefield in sheer numbers. We'd prefer to be left to our own devices, practicing our necrotic abilities in relative peace. We plan to stand back and watch as the major world forces battle over territory, disputes, or trivial things like stolen sandwiches. Our level of trust diminishes exponentially with each step away from the core members of this group - in other words, not much trust will be placed in the hands of those we do not personally know.

Recruitment: As mentioned before, we're willing to induct outsiders to the group. As in most cases with smaller groups like this, the more the better. If you're looking for a team to join to gain a foothold in the River Kingdoms during Early Enrollment, Deathwatch may be an appropriate place for you. Post here in this thread if you're interested in joining us. We should soon be on the Kickstarter Land Rush Leaderboard, so if you've pledged $35 or more in the Kickstarter, you should also cast your vote to indicate your membership.

Added to Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links. Feel free to PM or post here a brief description you'd like to show in that list.

Also, welcome to the Community! The Seventh Veil would also like to extend an offer of Diplomatic Outreach.

Update:
It seems we've recently been added (along with several others) to the Kickstarter Land Rush Leaderboard, so hopefully we'll get some votes outside of our founding "Crowdforger Guild" members.

@Nihimon: Thanks for adding us to your list, and further thanks for the offer! We'll definitely consider this - we would of course like to maintain individuality, but having the added security of networking with other companies may prove to be mutually beneficial. As kingdoms rise and alliances are formed, we'll need to consider our options. Also, much research and reading on the messageboards must be done! ^_^

Wuhan: just joined Deathwatch. +1vote!

Goblin Squad Member

Just added my vote also, since I'm not in the "original" 6...

Welcome, wuhan!

Goblin Squad Member

Hello Wuhan, and welcome to Deathwatch! We're looking forward to getting to know more about you. Considering we have quite some time before Early Enrollment begins, we'll certainly have plenty of opportunity.

Hi. I have lots of fun playing a Juju Oracle in a Skull and Shackles campaign. Would like to play something similar when this Online game takes off sometime in Summer 2014.

I like playing controller roles, and siege warfare roles.

The Juju Oracle sounds quite powerful! I'm definitely going to look into this combination whenever we start a new tabletop game. We're currently in the middle of a very interesting boat race that's taking us through the various Outer Planes.

We just created a new Deathwatch Guild Facebook group that's currently open to the public. Until some of the game mechanics and website mechanics are developed, this would be a good place to meet & greet with some of our other members that aren't on the Paizo.com messageboards yet.

Actually, the Dual Cursed ability is the most powerful I've ever seen in pathfinder.

Misfortune (Ex): At 1st level, as an immediate action, you can force a creature within 30 feet to reroll any one d20 roll that it has just made before the results of the roll are revealed. The creature must take the result of the reroll, even if it’s worse than the original roll. Once a creature has suffered from your misfortune, it cannot be the target of this revelation again for 1 day.

Used most often when other players fail Diplomacy, or Disable Device, or when bad guys make will saves, or confirm crits.

Control Undead 8/day + Undead master is the 2nd most powerful ability, as it allows me to Control up to 4 Ghasts. (We had 2 lacedons defeat a Naga, with paralyze.)

Finally, Animate dead+Remove Paralysis = Fast Zombies. +spirit vessels
Take any Huge creature you've killed, give it +4hd, +2str +2dex +4ac +15' reach +1extra attack, and maximum hp +toughness. And you have 1 really good meat shield to soak up and do damage.

If Pathfinder Online takes off with Mass Combat rules, in formations, it'd be really neat to see what 1/2 dozen necromancers can do with a wall of undead beasts.

On behalf of Shadow Haven, let me welcome you to the community! It would appear that Shadow Haven would be an ideal fit for you, a place where you can practice your arts in peace!

Greetings Aou. The Keepers of the Circle respect the right of all to pursue their own path, and may at times have services or goods of interest to your group. Please note that should the need arise our Keepers of the Circle Chancery is now open for any foreign envoys that might wish to parlay with us.

And greetings to you, Kastarr and Erian. We, the core leaders of Deathwatch, will certainly consider diplomatic relationships with each of your companies (to include Nihimon as well). There is much to consider, and we would like to discuss this further internally before we officially act on any proposals. In the meantime, I thank you for your outreach, and we're looking forward to making alliances soon.

Crafting a niche.

Scene1: The PC's are born and raised into a kingdom where they were taught and indoctrinated that there was "The Evil Empire" that was always out to do them harm.

Scene2 (Aside): An aristocracy of undead Vampires, control a kingdom thru domination and force.

Scene3: The city the PC's are in is besieged with siege weapons, and an army is at the gates. Once or twice a day a catapult stone hits a building somewhere.

Scene4: The mayor Vampire is talking to a foreign diplomat, "That was the deal, we sell you siege weapons, and you attack us with the weapons we sell you. We pay your armies to attack, and we earn our money by taxing our peasants outrageously to pay for the war. I don't care who dies, as long as we have our system of control."

Scene5: The PC's have proven themselves to be the greatest heroes in the militia, and are given a special forces mission. To stop "The Evil Empire" from acquiring more siege engines. When they discover a clue, that all the siege engines were built in their kingdom.

Scene6: An old man sits in a wheel chair, in the darkness of shadows and says "Well how goes it?"
The Vampire Mayor says "Master your biding is done."
Old man "Every decade a new crop of heroes is grown up. It's our job to harvest them, and cut them down."

Scene 6.5 A panoramic shot of the Palace takes place. "This is the Order of Our Holy Empire." And the camera angle now shows that the old man wears the rich robes of a high priest.

I just wanna make and sell siege engines... :)

It's really hard to find big and not (good)or(lawful) company.
I would like to join to yours. =)

Great to see another (far and few between) True neutral. We should make plans to stick together so we can keep our neutrality and avoid all the hassle of good v. evil, law v. chaos :)

Greetings, nanacano! We'd love for you to join us. While we are waiting for more details about guilds and chartered companies, you're welcome to join us on our Facebook group, if you'd like to get to know us a bit better. Most of our members haven't created Paizo.com accounts yet.

And Dakcenturi, it's true that there are not many TN companies around yet. We'd like to remain a bit more "open minded" in terms of what types of characters we'd like to attract. Not to mention that some of our guild members may end up playing evil characters, while others will play good. We have a very mixed group so far, and it seems True Neutral might be the best way to cater to everyone.

I would like to formally announce that we will be joining the Phaeros settlement. As such, we have officially disbanded our Land Rush "guild" - but our chartered company will remain intact. We will be working very closely with The Seventh Veil in this venture, with more exact details regarding our partnership to come at a later date.

In the meantime, all of our members will be placing our "votes" in the Land Rush to Phaeros (currently named "The Seventh Veil"). Although there are several other options available to us, including throwing all our votes into another affiliated (Roseblood Accord) settlement, we (both T7V and Deathwatch) felt that this was against the spirit of the contest. After all, we are planning to live within the walls of Phaeros, and we should represent this with our numbers as well.

It was a difficult decision to come to, but in the end it is quite relieving. Here are the basics of our reasons:
- Without making a massive push for recruitment, we would simply not "win" (be within the top 30 "Guilds") the land rush. Although this might have been possible with the assistance of the Roseblood Accord (e.g. if they were to encourage new members to join our settlement versus others), it would still be quite a challenge.
- As it stands right now, we simply do not have the sheer numbers required to effectively run a settlement. I'm sure that if we did establish one via the land rush, we'd probably gain the membership needed later - but it wouldn't make much sense in the meantime.
- After trying to come up with some plans with Nihimon and the rest of T7V that would include us keeping our Land Rush entry, it was clear that this is a group of people that we would be happy to associate ourselves with.
- T7V is glad to take us in, and we're happy to have a assured place that we can call "home." And for the record: we'll do our best to be sure that we keep up our part and make their decision to take us in worth their time and effort.

Again, to summarize:
- The Deathwatch Company is dropping out of the Land Rush 2.
- Deathwatch will be joining T7V in their settlement Phaeros.
- All of Deathwatch's "votes" in the Land Rush 2 will be counted towards the Phaeros settlement.
- Deathwatch will remain its own separate entity, living within Phaeros.

One "final" note:
We are definitely still open for recruitment! However, if you do join us, we ask that you place your votes with Phaeros to indicate that you will be joining their settlement. It certainly won't help them "win" (after all, they already have a settlement established via the first land rush), but this would ethically be the correct course of action.

Before making any wild assumptions about any of this, please just ask me questions. You can post here, or private-message me.

As the only member of T7V now awake, it falls to me to say welcome to Phaeros! This could be the start of a beautiful friendship ...

The day's blazing sun
Ends eternally in stars above
And all life good and foul
Trembles beneath some sacred vow
Fools are those who claim just one
For this riddle can not be undone
Yet those gifted with the sight
Welcome both
In a house of black and light

My light welcomes you to The Seventh Veil.

This is extremely important to me and I admire the integrity on display. I believe very strongly that holding true to important principles is a much greater advantage than the temporary benefit of sacrificing those principles could ever hope to match.

Welcome to Phaeros AOU and company!

Thank you all for the welcoming attitude - it shows a prime example of one of the many qualities we like about the the Phaeros community.

I'm wondering if anyone would dare to give me feedback about our new guild website?

http://deathwatchcompany.com/

I'm aware that the following things need to be worked on:
- Events calendar is empty (might be replacing it with another App - we'll see)
- Forums are practically empty
- Links page needs some work (and more useful links)
- No news on the front page yet

Thanks! :)
