Timeline and Plot Web programs

Technology

Hey I love keeping track of continuity, but I Have no way to map these things out effectively. I'm looking for a free timeline program where i can make my own years, and map character birth/death dates and plot when important stuff happened. I also would like something more akin to a plot web or something where I can map when certain events happend and connect them together by how they are connected with each other (kinda like that feature in Soul Calibur IV that shows how everyone is related)

suggestions?

Not free, but Aeon Timeline will do what you want.

For free, there are various packages for LaTeX that will format a timeline. There are also templates for Excel and Powerpoint out there if that is more your thing.

Platform you want to run on would be a useful piece of information.

If the only good options involve spending money, my recommendation is to wait a few months. :)

Realm Works is an upcoming product that does everything you've outlined above and a heck of a lot more. It's in Beta testing now and will be releasing later this year. If you'll be at GenCon, stop by booth #1827 for a demo. We'll also be posting a bunch of updated info on our website after we return from GenCon, so stay tuned for that in a few weeks.

And yes, Realm Works will work smoothly in conjunction with Hero Lab and just about any other tools you might use.

The only caveat is that Realm Works won't be free, but you'll definitely be getting a lot of bang for your buck with it.

Nothing definite at this point. We're still debating a few different models in-house, but we should settle on something relatively soon. So we should be able to start providing ballpark info in the next month or two. :)

sweet and thanks.
