I'm sending out a wave to the crew of the Swift Ox Class freighter, "Babe." Thank you very much for an awesome game.
Special thanks to my Deputy "mearrin69" for fielding game system questions, for being the dealer, bartender and the Ship's Captain. That freed me up to roleplay the setting and adventure.

How many of the crew played Deadlands before? Zero. How many knew the Firefly setting front and back? None. How many jumped into the game feet first? As if it were a continuing saga we all had been playing together for years? Everyone!
I was awed by the amazing roleplaying, enthusiasm and system comprehension.
Post game, "mearrin69" and I talked about all the positive feedback. So, I know it is a year away... But I think there is enough interest to revisit this crew and their misadventures at the next PaizoCon. I will get to work.

You all were great!

Thank you,

Captain Bleak wants to know if there's a bonus for returning Blue Sun's bloody big H-bomb and for keeping most of the eggheads from going Humpty Dumpty. Shame about Dr. Poindexter, or whatever his name was, but the rest did okay.

Babe's cockpit bulkhead, somehow, took heavy damage during the recovery of the hijacked bomb and it's going to be spendy to make that all shiny again. A bonus would sure come in handy.

Well, I still disagree about giving Blue Sun back a bloody big H-bomb, but I can't say it ain't nice to have some coin for a change. I still think we shoulda dropped it on the Jayne shrine, that 煤泥吸吮兒子的母親山羊.

I believe we lost a skiff as well, or was that Blue Sun's?

I hope you remembered to add "plus expenses" to the contract this time, Captain!

-Janella

Oh, and also, Thank *you*. That was an awesomely fun game :)

Sovereign Court

All I know is, I got my kill and I don't care that he was all drugged up. He was still a purple belly impersonating fanatic type what needed puttin' down. 'Sides, if all of you didn't shoot my three on the right I would gotten my kills and been done with it, but no, you just had to shoot 'em all. Greedy sons of a ...

I'm gonna be in my bunk.

Great session EL-EL. I'll be looking forward to the continuing storyline next year. :)

Shadow Lodge

That skiff was obviously not ours....pfft it could barely get us to Babe!
If it weren't my superior skills getting things in to holes we might of still been drinkin' mudders milk.

-Thad

I would LOVE to play again next year!

-Christine

I still can't believe the years of research and prototypes in my lab were nearly consumed in that catastrophe! I begin to wonder if the freedom to experiment unfettered by pesky laws and regulations is really worth the trouble. Ah well - I must admit in this case the reckless behavior of you lot paid off!

- Quinton Stoat, Scientist

OOC: Mike C. here - I had a great time gaming with you all! Many thanks EL-EL and mearrin69 for introducing me to Deadlands with such a fun session, and thanks to all who played. Would love to join in again next year in another Firefly game. By then I'll probably be more familiar with the series, it's high up on my to-watch list! :)

That's what she said. Then again, if you had better *aim* you might get more call-backs... ;) I kid. You're the best 飞行员 in the 'Verse...but you knew that already.

Edit: Oh, hey, place your pre-orders for homebrew for next year. Tell me your favorite type of beer and I'll try to have some ready for the next event. Sorry, Tyrone, I don't know how to make the hard stuff. :)

Edit again: I'm not makin' no gorram Mudders' Milk. Had to throw away a pair of perfectly good skivvies.

I'd like to request that we keep the requests for alcohol on the down-low. If my Pop gets wind of your plans, he's going to be a bear to handle. And I have enough work as it is trying to put the tetchye control panel outside of the bridge back together, Cap'n. I can't seem to get the toilets to STOP flushing. Is it possible that you accidentally still have a circuit board or two in your flightsuit, sir?

(This is Paul; count me in for next year!)

I seem to remember stepping on something green and flat...and crunchy. Tyrone may have kicked it into the gap in deckplates in his haste to get to the infirmary to commit murder. I'm sure it wasn't an important part of the ship, right?

Sovereign Court

It wasn't murder, gorram it all! He was a ruttin' purple belly fanatic martyrin' type what woulda gotten all of us killed deader than 狗屎. You find a mad dog, you put him down ... even if he is full of tranks.

Certainly wasn't shiny. he was more preacher than purple belly. We were in a pinch with the way they took the ship but that was plain barbaric. The next time you need stitching I might not be able to find any anesthetic. Wuh De Ma you all can make it hard for one to keep ones composure. Even if I did spend half the fight watching the pilot run around in next to nothing.

(I would be in for a game as well.)

Preacher?! Are you dippin' into your own supply there, doc? I gotta go with Ty on this one - I'm all for people martyrin' themselves is that's what they feel they aughtta do, but nothin' gives 'em the right to use my ship in doin' it. 'Specially while I'm on it.

Besides, the Shepherds where I grew up spoke for God, not for some two-bit bottom dwelling scum-sucking mercenary 丑陋的狒狒 who'd sell his own mother for enough credits.

An' Ty - if you wouldn't shoot like a 大麻的影响下的树懒, I wouldna' had to put your guys down.

Maybe I shoulda just ignored them, and run to the bridge faster - woulda given me more time to run back to the cargo bay again and maybe the engine a coupla more times...

And Thad - ya may be a gorram 叶上的风, but if'n ya'd put it in the right spot the first time, I wouldna hadda jump out and be hangin' off Babe's cargo ramp a hundred feet up in the air...

-Janella

----

Definitely would be up for a sequel next year (or did I say that already?)
Also, the Apple was my favorite, with the IPA a very close second :)

-Pat

You guys are awesome, BTW!

The IPA was young on Saturday. Just had one (last day of vacation...boo!) and it's really getting smooth!

Sovereign Court

Second on the Apple. :)

IPA all the way!

Scarab Sages

So, cap'n, we're comin' up on a year here. Any word if ya found another job for us yet?

Sommma us 'r gettin' mighty thirsty down here...

-Janella

Sovereign Court

<climbs up from his bunk>

Did I hear somethin' about a job? Be nice to get some coin again. After that last 天翻地覆 job, I hope this ones a bit more on the orderly side.

Not honest, just orderly.

- Tyrone

I might have a line on something. A paying job for once. Platinum, not that gorram Alliance scrip. You kids with me?
Darius Bleak

Sovereign Court

I'm with ya Cap'n ... though we may be down a doc ...

- Tyrone

Danny is looking like he won't be able to make it to Seattle this year. But Paul will be there and his girlfriend may want to fill the role. I can ask him to see if they are both interested in resuming/joining in the game.

This is a wave to the crew of the Swift Ox freighter: "Babe."

Blue Sun is impressed with your handling of the "Higgins Moon Incident." Your professionalism and discretion was the talk of the recent Board Meeting. Well done!

We have a job for you, a mission of mercy. This job requires a crew we can trust.

The Mission:

We received a garbled Wave from our mining colony New Salem on Port Chester. It seems a sickness has struck the miners of New Salem and they need immediate help.
However, we were unable to contact the colony for more details. This is not unusual. The Heinlein System is often difficult to reach due to solar flare activity. An unfortunate reality when you orbit a proto-star.

The symptoms mentioned in the Wave point to an outbreak of Bowden's Malady.
We located a supply of Pescaline D on the space-station, Space Bazaar. The Space Bazaar is on the way to Port Chester. Please secure the Pescaline D and proceed to New Salem at your best possible speed.

***** ***** ***** ***** *****

So, who of the original crew are interested in being "Big Damn Heroes?" Let me know so we can determine if there are going to be any open slots.
As before, all materials will be provided.

Aw Yeah! A payin' job ... 'bout damn time. All them small "jobs" we done since the 他妈的浑蛋。 Higgin's Moon boondoggle ... well they weren't exactly "payin'" were they cap't?

Count me in.

Scarab Sages

The talk of a Blue Sun board meetin'. Be still my beatin heart.

At least they pay well.

(They should, alla the money they take from the honest hard-working folk of the verse!)

But, yeah, Ty ain't wrong 'bout our recent jobs. I'm in, of course.

(Long as no more 可怕的错误 from my past show up as gorram cult leaders)

-Janella

Pescaline D? Might as well carry a bunch of bags of platinum and paint "rob us" on the hull. Still, we take what we can get to keep flying.

The alias of "Tyrone" was taken, so I figured I'd add something to it. I grabbed the text from a Firefly Chinese quote site ... it ("Jien tah-duh guay!") was listed as (roughly) "Like Hell!" ... literally, it is "see/meet his ghost" or "preposterous/go to hell" or "Nonsense!/Damn it!" ... I thought it seemed appropriate for the character ... as in "oh like hell I ain't gonna get a kill off these ・流口水的婊子和猴子的笨儿子。loonies". ;)

You all saved/disarmed your ship from blowing up over Canton on Higgins Moon. Which, in turn stopped the Cult of Jayne from causing a 2nd Civil War. Big Dam Heroes.

Don't forget, you are contractually obligated with Blue Sun to keep your traps shut. There was no nuclear device, nor imminent threat of mass destruction.

This next job of delivering a shipment of Pescaline D is possibly boring by comparison. I almost feel bad.

I see we are missing some crew. We will have to start knocking on doors. Start at inexpensive Companion houses, gambling establishments, drug dens and chop shops. Then expand your search.

I'm sure you will find your crew on the first pass.

I'm going to wear my Blue Sun t-shirt. They promised me a little bonus for advertising...
M

Shadow Lodge

Wait, wait! I'm here and ready for action!! Captain?

(I'm so excited to see you all again!)

Excellent! We have our pilot!
That was a nail-biter, we almost had the Captain in the Pilot's seat. That's fine, unless you have to make a turn, or land, or etc...

let me send a wave t'the mechanic ... an' there may be a line onna doc as well ...

Iff'n the cap't was flying, I think this mighta been a 愚笨的 run ... glad t'see ya back Thad. :)

What? I'm checked out on our ship. Little rusty, but qualified? Still, it's good we're getting most of the band back together!

When is this shindig anyway?

Just heard from the mechanic ... not going to be able to make the shindig ... may have a line on an alternate for either a mechanic or a doc though, cap't ...

Silver Crusade

I'd love to join the crew. (aparently I'm suposed to say Tyrone sent me...)

We won't hold that against you. ;)

Hey Cap't, I got ya into the cockpit on the last mission didn't I? ;)

Jake, feeling more mechanical towards ships or people? Got a mechanic and doc position to fill from Paul and Danny last year. ;)

Also, I got the rum covered ... got a variety to bring out this year. :) You bringing home brew this year, mearrin?

Silver Crusade

The jobs don't sound all that deferant, both bodys and ships break from time to time just patch um up, make sure ya dont leave any tools inside, and pray she holds together...

I'll fix anythang ya'll got with this here duct tape and craftsman wrench, point me to my bunk. I'll start right after my nap...

Sovereign Court

As to when the game will be running ...

I do know I will be running tables between 1pm and midnight on Friday ... and apparently a Wayfinder Panel Discussion on Friday from 8pm-9pm (we'll see if anyone shows up) ... and which seems to be at odds with the slot I was given for running a PFS table ... will need to check on this ... ;)

Outside that, it all depends on what the lottery results are, but I will drop playing at a PFS table for this game.

Hopefully some homebrew will be available! Not sure what will be on tap but I know I've got some good IPA in the beer closet. Irish red ale and a light pilsner are good bets as well. May not be able to swing any berry as I'm fresh out and the latest blackberry batch is still in the early stages and probably won't be conditioned by the con.

In other news, I'm putting together a Star Trek game for Wednesday or Thursday evening. Any of you are welcome to join...and get first dibs on characters (but don't choose until you look them over!) Read about it here.

I'd also like to try running a Battlestar Galactica-themed Burning Empires game, but that's not set yet. Any interest?
M

Sovereign Court

You mentioned Burning Empires before. I'm not familiar with the system, but am always up for trying new games.

Cool. We're still experimenting/learning this end and I expect we'll know enough about it to give it a go at PaizoCon...I'll post details separately or mention it to interested players at the event to see if we can set up a time to get some people together to try it out.
M

Last year we played Saturday evening. That works for me again. Let me know if that is a problem. If it is for too many players then we figure out something else.

Scarab Sages

I'm pretty sure Saturday evening will work for me, too. I'm running a game Friday night, but can be free pretty much any other time.

Sovereign Court

What time on Saturday? There is the banquet Sat evening ... cutting out early from it should not be an issue though.

I'd love to sneak in on this game. I learned about it too late last year, and had other commitments.

Quinton Stoat here, returning for the new mission! Late, I know - I've been embroiled in some experiments that got out of hand. All under control now.

You may need a skilled scientist such as myself to assist with that disease epidemic. I'll lend a hand, if I may continue to use the lab onboard with no questions asked, of course.

(Had a blast with you guys last year - would love to join in again if there's still room! I believe I'll be free most of the evenings. - Mike C.)

Welcome aboard again, Dr. Stoat. You're welcome to keep using the medbay but please keep any and all bugs locked away securely. Don't want any critters running about the ship. :)

Shadow Lodge

I would love to be a part of the Star Trek game you're running. What time are you thinking?

Would definitely like to have you there. When are you getting in to the show? Players so far are me, El-El, Pat Luther, and zylphryx. It has been suggested by zylphrx that we run it on Wednesday from 10pm until whenever (very late). El-El and I get in Wednesday morning so that would probably be okay with us. Don't know about PL. Other options are Thursday morning or after the dinner portion of the Meet and Eat.

Alas, I won't be there until about noon on Thursday. Can it be some time around then?

Do you have plans Thursday night? How about MA on Thursday from 1-6, then Firefly from 7-midnight? Or something.

If Wednesday's the only time that it all works, I understand, and hope y'all have fun!

-Pat

Sorry, Pat. Little confusion. The Firefly game is tentatively set on Saturday evening sometime. The Star Trek game is up in the air. Thursday 7-midnight would work for me for that one. I'd definitely like to have the aforementioned players there so let's find a time that works for us all...and I guess we'd better move this to the ST thread so as to not confuse anyone, or derail El-El's thread further! :)
M

Edit: I'm in for MA on Thursday from 1-6. Presumptuous of me to speak for El-El but I imagine she's good for that time too.

Scarab Sages

Ah, yes, when I said Firefly, I meant Star Trek.

Ummmm.... don't tell anyone I know I said that, though.

Saturday Evening is good for me for Firefly, too.

And, speaking of Firefly, good to have to have you back, Thaddeus! With our supremely competent pilot, and our same doc, I have no doubt this caper'll go 比打蜡海豚顺畅.
