Pathfinder Society in PFO

Pathfinder Society

Silver Crusade 2/5

Howdy folks!

I know this is a bit of a cross reference on the forums (don't shoot me yet, mods!), but I'd like to see if there is an interest in getting PFS going in Pathfinder Online. It would be highly interesting to see the Society take root in Golarion's virtual version. Anyone interested?

Also, there is some pretty *sweet* swag for jumping in on the kickstarter for PFO's tech demo (up to and including a Pathfinder session run by a list of Pathfinder Celebrities, including James Jacobs!). I'll drop the link here, just in case anyone feels like kicking in a bit.

Awesome stuff.

Game on, ladies and gents!

There's a brief mention of PFS in the Goblinworks FAQ.

How will this interact with Pathfinder Society Organized Play?

Initially, at least, interaction with PFS will be minimal.

Not trying to sound rude, but does anyone really read the Goblinworks site at all?

The Pathfinder Society as an in-world entity will most certainly appear in the game, just like the Hellknights, and many other Golarion elements that define the setting. If you mean that you'd like to see guilds or other real-world organizations composed of Pathfinder Society Organized Play characters, that sounds like an awesome, awesome idea!

That is what I was aiming for! How awesome would it be to have a chartered company representing the society? Society players, worldwide, working together, crafting tales? That is what I would love to see!

4 people marked this as a favorite.

Along the same lines, we'll be making the dungeon presented in Thornkeep Pathfinder Society legal just as we currently do with our Pathfinder Module adventures, so if the community helps push the Kickstarter over the 2,000 backers goal, there will be twice as much material included, and all backers will get to vote on the flavor of the second level, written by Jason Bulmahn.

Because of work, I didn't get to see the Kickstarter until the second day when the goal was met, but one of the first things that I wondered was whether Thornkeep would have anything in it that might be PFS legal.

I wonder if there are any teasers about other material that might be in it ... Is it like APs that might have player-material like a class or feats in it?
I'm sure gonna support it ... And I will definitely switch from WoW to PFO when it comes out. A lot of times, WoW has been a sort of ersatz gaming for me when I didn't have IRL gaming. But with PFO, I'd love to be able to join the two, and play Pathfinder online and in a regular gaming group. I might even make an online version of my favorite level ten Osirion Living Monolith, Qa'Pelos!!!

The goal has been met, but they now have stretch goals. And any extra that goes towards the kickstarter goes towards getting the game launched sooner. So, donate away!

And, as a quick plug, if you want to join an awesome Chartered Company, take a look at "The Great Legionaries".

The 32 pages of game content are pretty much going to be setting material plus the dungeon. The final draft is still a ways away, but I'd be surprised if there's much at all in the way of new mechanics.

It's definitely cool and I have no doubt that Paizo will do it right and not let it turn into a D&D MMO knock off.

But for me, online games don't do it for me. There's no physical interaction with players and I've lost a lot of good relationships to online gaming as well. So for me, I'll stick with my books and my pen and paper Pathfinder's Society. The human interaction is the whole purpose of Tabletop RPG's and MMO's have a bad habit of feeding into the geek stereotype of us being nothing but unintelligent recluses, who do nothing but sit in front of computer screens all day.. (Which I know we are totally not.)

It would be more my while however, if we could play sanctioned PFS games online for online chracter PFS credits. It would be really cool to do that for me and my family who live all over the country.

You can already do that using existing tabletop emulators or PBP.

True. But it would be nice.

Mark,

Any idea how soon the dungeons presented in the Thornkeep Sourcebook provided to the Pathfinder Online Kickstarter Supporters will become PFS legal?

Thornkeep will be legal as soon as the Chronicles go live and it is added to the Additional Resources, just like other modules.
