City of Golden Death and the Timer

Adventures

My players are about to enter Xin Grafar this sunday, and I´m wondering if it´s worth the hassle with the countdown.
How did your group handle it? Please share!

They didn't know initially, as they got further in dawned on them as they ....

spoiler:
noticed the buildings and gold-plated parts of the city etc... (give them Perception rolls, Wisdom rolls, Knowledge Architecture... etc..)

That's if they don't figure it out from the hints (if I remember correctly).

Yes the timer is worth it - being shut in the city for all time would be a bummer.

Long time ago, but IIRC the timer made my players wait for the elf to come out. They didn't consider it worth the risk.

What I mean is more how did you handle the 66 hours - 1 hour of gameplay equals 10 hour or something like that?

Have a listen to the Pathfinder podcast 03, it speaks exactly to the mechanics of making the countdown fun.

The podcast is almost 2:20: at what time is the countdown talk?

Josh Frost comes in somewhere around the 20minute mark I think.

It's actually just past 48:40. Right after a Gandalf clip.

Yeah, but no timer talk.

Ah, thank you. I wasn't paying very close attention and I skipped forward until they started talking about the modules. Plus I only listened to it once.
