I've recently gotten into the creation of spells. I've had some really good feedback from some of my low-level spells. But there are a few to many spells for me to want to sit down and flip through all the books to see if some of my ideas overlap with existing spells. As such, I am coming to the experts of the boards. So here are my ideas, any other feedback is appreciated as well.
Walls of Shadow and Light Bard, Cleric, Sor/Wiz, Witch level 3
Caster can create illusionary walls and shape them into whatever form they want, hovels, castles, bridges etc
Song of Battle Bard level 6
Gives bonuses to battle rolls
Armor of Shadow Cleric, Druid level 0
Gives a +1 bonus to AC for every 5 levels.
For Song of Battle, define "bonuses to battle rolls". In battle, you might make melee attack rolls, ranged attack rolls, touch versions of both, skill checks, initiative rolls, 3 kinds of saving throws...you get the idea.
For Armor of Shadow: one, level 0 means it's a cantrip, usable at will. That's probably pushing it right there. Two, what type of AC bonus is it? Armor? Sacred? Natural armor? This needs some definition.
For the Walls...I like the idea. Flesh it out.
I'd be interested in knowing how Walls of Shadow and Light is functionally different from silent image. More illusion spells is seldom a bad thing, but what is this accomplishing that existing spells cannot? Duration, solidity/believability, range, size...?
All right, Armor of Shadow doesn't overlap with any level 0 spells I know of. Depending on the type of AC bonus, it overlaps potentially with shield of faith and barkskin, to a lesser extent shield and mage armor. Shield of faith grants +2 deflection bonus to AC, +1 more per 6 levels; can't recall the progression on barkskin. Both are higher than 0 level.
For Song of Battle, without knowing which "battle rolls" are involved, it could potentially overlap with heroism, greater heroism, and good hope as well as bardic music abilities, to say the least.
