Is Orcs of Golarion useful for my character?

Hi,

I have a 5th level 1/2 Orc Sorcerer (future Dragon Disciple), are there any crunchy bits useful for my character in this accessory?

I would say... probably not. The fluffy bits are quite good but the feats/ class abilities/ & spells seem pretty much targeted towards NPCs which is disappointing.

  • An orc bloodline which won't be compatible with dragon disciple. You get 90' darkvision and light sensitivity which IMO is bad news.
  • Feats are almost universally barbarian oriented.
  • There is a special feat non-cleric divine casters can take to get channeling.
  • The spells are roughly 50% cleric/ adept and the few that are sorcerer/ wizard aren't bad but aren't worth picking up the book for.
  • Lots of traits... I didn't really pick through them but at least a few were ok.

    Overall if you are looking for crunch here you are likely going to be disappointed.

    I agree with Ogre. I received my copy yesterday, and while it had lots of good background information, there's very little crunch for a 1/2 Orc sorceror. I'm playing a half-orc Ranger in Kingmaker right now, and I didn't find any crunch for my character either.

    Yeah, I like the book and I admit total bias, but even I have to concede... not much here if you aren't playing a Barbarian.

    Edit: The fluff is good, though.

    Agree. Lots of good fluff. Some very good things for a GM with for Orc themed adventures.

    As far as classes go the barbarian by far got the most love. There are a couple of cool spells. One of my favorites adds a rage affect where the more damage done the more STR goes up. Caps at +10 STR at 25 HP damage.

    The traits are kind of good and offer some options if your group uses those.

    I think it has more useful player stuff than some people seem to be saying, but it definitely is geared more toward martial classed orcs.
