Running PFS scenarios at PaizoCon

PaizoCon General Discussion

Scarab Sages

This is for those of you who volunteered to run PFS scenarios last year at PaizoCon. At what point did you find out what scenarios you would be running? My mind is going through all the ways I could prepare for the games to help keep them smooth and interesting. I hope to avoid bundling up all my flip maps and minis. I fear that the only way to accomplish this is to know some information about the scenarios prior to flying to Seattle.

Last year was a little close...I found out the scenario just a few days before heading up and received a draft copy (Word doc) to prep for the game. Even so, I think I had plenty of time to read it through, grab minis, etc. I was able to get a copy of the final adventure (or nearly final? not sure) when I got to the event.

I wouldn't expect it to be that close this year; sounded like that might have been a special circumstance.

Last year, Paizo provided applicable filp mats to GMs running specific scenarios as either GenCon or PaizoCon (I think it was GenCon), though I don't know if they'll do the same this year. Assume you'll have something to prepare from (as in a document) at least a few days before the event.

You'll know at least a few weeks ahead of time what you're running. I'm a month ahead of the schedule I was on last year.

*crosses fingers*

I knew well beforehand *which* module I would run. I got a draft of the module the Friday before PaizoCon and was able to do a test run for my home group.

That's a smart idea!

Josh have any problem with that?

Getting the scenario ahead of time to prep for the con, good Sir Grumpypuss. :P

About the flip mats: They did give one out at Gencon, but it was the same one irrespective of the scenario one was running. Can't say for Paizo con; I didn't go.

As an aside to anyone on the fence about volunteering: Do it! I had a great time last year, and Paizo took *really good* care of us. In fact, I'd do it again, but I'm starting school in June...

Just because my avatar is grumpy doesn't mean *I* am. ;-)

I will of course provide folks with the scenarios ahead of time.

I'm delighted by which scenarios I've been assigned to run (the two in Kaer Maga). When may I read them?

When they're ready. I hope a few weeks before the show.

Thank-you.

Just curious if we're still on schedule to get the scenarios this week (wanting to plan a PFS meet to run it beforehand).

Many of the scenarios being run at Paizo Con will be out to the volunteers this week. I'm hoping all of them, but one or two might slip to early next week. Keep an eye on your inbox!

Ah, I was wondering when they might hit the mailboxes!!

:)

To be clear: your inbox will contain a notification that your scenarios are in your My Downloads. :-)

I'm leaving for Seattle this Friday and need to prep what I can this week. If I purchase the two available scenarios that I'm running, will I get credit for them at the Paizo store?

No, but scenarios will start hitting your downloads tomorrow.

Got my scenario!

FYI though (and I've only tried it on one version of Adobe so far): Page 8 stubbornly refused to print. This has happened in the past (I swear page 8 too), but usually it's a big image. This is no images at all.

If no one else has the problem, please ignore (and I'll check with another version later).

Lucky! I'm still waiting on mine. What scenario(s) did you get?

51

#54 is nearly in your My Downloads and Year of the Shadow Dragon's playtest documents need another once over from me tomorrow and will then be emailed out.

Ran #51 here - *fantastic* scenario.

I thought it was going to run long, but didn't. And that was adding in lots of extra details.

At Tier 3-4, it ran slightly too "even" - with a mixed (6,5,4,1st level) group they had little trouble. Couple of very slight tactics editing issues, nothing that would cause a problem.

Lot of fun. Anyone DM'ing it - make sure to keep the goals, roles, and faces clear to the players (actually, Face cards would probably work awesome for this).

I got 53. I just hope everyone who show's up is qualified, or I imagine I'll be handing them an NPC sheet...

huh?

#53 is part IV of the Echoes of the Everwar and requires that the players have played the first three parts.

Very glad to hear that! :-)

Oh - and the third Map Pack/Flipmat reference is wrong, pg. 16.

It's possible I don't understand, but that reference is correct. The tiles featured are from Map Pack: City as seen here (top left sample).

BTW--I too have had the page 8 problem. It is always page 8. Not sure what is going on, but I can't print page 8 at home, so I always have to print out that single page at work. Crazy, eh?

Ah - that would be a filing error on my end - sorry for the confusion!
