EDIT: Ninja'd by Drunken Nomad. Apart from all the classic ELO hits he's mentioned, there's also:

10538 overture and Do Ya

Telephone Line

I love ELO - quite a different band when they started (with Roy Wood) compared to where they ended up, as AOR Titans.

And as a special treat, because I know you're just dieing to see a hairy man in makeup miming with a French Horn in a Phil Spector "tribute", Here's Roy himself, with Wizzard

Before I go off watching the ELO songs and the not-ELO songs, I used to have a couple of The Move records, even the one where Jeff joined, but never an ELO album...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I had quite a few beers last night and MAYBE off on the names of the ELO songs. Actually, Jeff, one of my friends, pretty much ONLY listens to music Lynne is involved with (Orbison, Petty, Everly Bros, Del Shannon, Beatles, etc). Or newer stuff that sounds directly influenced by him, like Apples in Stereo.

If you have a half hour

That link leads to a cool interview/acoustic set that has a few of the classic tunes mentioned above in a smaller stripped down setting.

Quick sidetrack:
My favorite version of Lynne's "Do Ya". My friend Jeff used some trickery and cut out the 'rat tat tatta' out of the mp3 and used it as his text ringtone for a long time.

I don't [bubble bubble bubble] at all, but if I did (and didn't feel like listening to Hawkwind, as I did when I was 17, [bubble]d *and* looked like Fagin), my choice would probably be Boards of Canada, or possibly The Advisory Circle

It's awesome that there's all these contributors to WPZO, but the drawback is that I am dreadfully behind. I've only gotten up to Peter Gabriel!

But I had to share something I discovered for another thread.
