Having fun with the race builder

Homebrew and House Rules

I'm having fun creating random player races. THe DM of a game I started recently allowed us to create our own races, so I started messing around with the race builder. I got a peculiar character idea after talking with another player about the tentacle cloak.

So I'm working on sort of an aberration character race. The basic idea is to turn around the "creepy little girl" horror trope: make a child that basically has 4 tentacle coming out of it's back. But instead of murdering you, it's friendly and affectionate. To add to the creepy, I'd make her a witch and give her the prehensile hair Hex (just to make it like her hair is tentacles).

I'm looking for ideas to make this character concept reality. I've used the race builder, and while there are a few interesting things, I still have some problems.None of the natural attack sections mention tentacles. I'm wondering how the points would work to add tentacles. The natural attacks section does not mention it. For the moment, this is the build:

Type: Humanoid

Size: Small (or medium, not sure)

Speed: Normal

Linguistics: Standard (Though might want to make her mute)

Ability Score: Standard (+2 con, +2wis, -2cha)

Natural attacks (1rp)*4 (tentacle)

Sticky tongue (2rp) (*2 maybe) (mouth full of small tentacles)

Darkvision 60 ft (2 rp)

Static Bonus feat: Multiattack (2rp) (she has 6 usable limbs, so i'll try to use them)

10 rp (or 12)

So, what do you guys think? I thought of asking here mainly because I thought there might be more creative suggestions about making this character concept interesting. I was thinking of using a homebrew of the scarred witch doctor archetype (with tentacles) so any suggestions would be appreciated.Aberrant bloodline sorcrer would have been cool, but she simply wont have the charisma. I'm not actually going to play it (made a sort of half-construct magus for play) but I'm interested how far I can go with this concept.

Four primary natural attacks (tentacles) seems like a lot. When I look at a couple of low CR tentacled animals in the bestiary (basic CR 1 octopus and squid), I see that no matter how many tentacles they have, it's all a single attack. Doing something like that makes the race more reasonable to me.

Anyhow, it sounds like a fun idea. Maybe give the tentacles reach (+1rp) or grab (+6rp)? Or make them prehensile (+2rp)? Strictly going by the book, reach has a 'large size' prerequisite, but whatever. It's homebrew!

Those are some good ideas. We coul treat all the tentacle as 1-2 natural attack (maybe a 1d6, like tentacle cloak?). Reach and prehensile would also work well, though if I put 4 points into sticky tongue reach could be unecessary. Not sure if tentacles are already considered prehensile though.

So then we would get.

Type: Humanoid

Size: Small (or medium, not sure)

Speed: Normal

Linguistics: Standard (Though might want to make her mute)

Ability Score: Standard (+2 con, +2wis, -2cha)

Natural attacks (1rp)*2 (tentacle)
Reach (1rp)

Sticky tongue (4rp) (mouth full of small tentacles)

Darkvision 60 ft (2 rp)

Static Bonus feat: Multiattack (2rp)

11 rp

I still want her to have 8 limbs ( to fit with the octopus theme) but I'll have each of them attack 2 by 2¸. Basically it would act like a tentacle cloak.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll try to get a drawing up of the character soon.

So I've worked a bit on the class idea, and it would basically be a modified version of the "scarred witch doctor" archetype. For the abilities:

Constitution dependant: this I want to keep

Hex scar: I'm not sure what to do with this one. I want to maintain the rule, but in this flavor. Maybe a vestigial tentacle grows somewhere on her body?

Fetish Mask: I'd find something similar cool, but for the moment I have no idea how to adapt it to this. Maybe some kind of children's doll would fit the background? I cant help thinking of Minsc and Boo.

Scarshield: I'd replace it with "tentacle armor": basically the same ability, but instead of hardened scars, she uses her tentacle hair as "natural armor".

I'm thinking of the endurance patron for now. I didnt notice if there was one that fir better with the aberrant backstory.

there already is a witch archetype that gets a doll, so thats not unreasonable.

I checked it out, and I imagine your talking about the bonded witch Toaster? It could work well. But it might be a bit too much more than the scarred mask.

actually the gravewalker from ultimate magic, link

That seems a bit grisly for my idea. Thanks anyway. Might be an interesting way to modify it.

I'm thinking bonded item: weapon, associated with her natural weapons (tentacles), could be interesting.

Anybody else got any ideas?

Well, I decided to mess around some more, converting Forgotten Realms races into pathfinder. I started with the deep imaskari, because I've always found this race of hyper-isolationist underdark humans to be oddly fascinating:

Underground sneak: +2 on alchemy, perception and sneak, and +4 on sneak underground. (5rp)
Low-light vision (1rp)
Enclave protector (maybe?) (2rp)
Arcane focus (1 rp)
Specialized (1 rp) : +2 Int, +2 wis, -2 dex.
Total: 10 rp

This is what I've got for the moment. In 3.5, their "special ability" seems is something not really adressed in the race builder:

Spell Clutch (Su): Because the deep Imaskari have studied magic for ages on end, a certain facility with magic has seeped into their blood. Once per day, a deep Imaskari can recall any 1st-level spell that she has already prepared and then cast. The spell is then prepared again, just as if it hadn't been cast.

The ability seems fairly powerful, so I'm not sure if I should use it at all. Anybody have an idea how much race points it could represent? I'm replacing it (for the moment) with enclave protector, since it works with their backstory.
