This is the Black Gryphon Inn, #1 of 8 products forming Heavenring Village. Black Gryphon Inn contains a referee map and 28 customizable tiles.

This product line brings you simple tiles for your favorite RPGs. In each product you will find a whole fantasy location fully fleshed out in miniature-scale tiles with 0one's usual top-notch customization capabilities. The B&W maps are simple, line-art battlemaps you can customize to suit your needs and then print. These tiles are accurate, detailed, inexpensive, and not ink-eaters.

    In each Black & White product you’ll find:
  • A Referee map detailing a fantasy location
  • The location broken into US Letter sheets in miniatures scale (each sheet contains an 8x10-inch tile)
  • A short description of each area of the location with suggested plots

Rule the Dungeon: This 0one-exclusive feature allows you to customize the look of your map by adding the furniture, toggling the grid, hiding the room numbers, and much more. On the Referee Map, you will find a big “Rule the Dungeon” button. Clicking this button will present some options to you, with a checkmark appearing beside the active options. Available options vary by product; below is a list of the most common options included in Oone's Black & White products.

  • Text: toggle room numbers and tile numbers
  • Tiling: toggle the page tiling (Referee Map only)
  • Furniture: toggle furniture
  • Doors: toggle doors
  • Square Grid: toggle square grid
  • Hex Grid: toggle hexagonal grid
  • Hex Grid 1 inch: toggle hexagonal grid, 1 inch
  • No Grid: turn off the grid
  • Black Fill: toggle the black in the walls
  • Grey Fill: toggle the grey fill in the wall
  • No Fill: toggle the white fill in the walls
  • All: toggle default state/empty state (with just the walls)

An RPG Resource Review

Given the natural affinity of adventuring parties for inns (and the tendency for brawls to break out necessitating a change of hostelry!), you can never have too many inn floorplans in your collection. This one is a straightforward village inn, designed as part of the Heavenring Village set), with ample stabling and several nice rooms for those who wish to stay the night as well as a large common room/bar, kitchens and even indoor toilets! Accommodation ranges from multiple occupancy, with stragicially-placed cupboards to give a modicum of privacy, to a spacious suite with its own bathroom. The owner's apartment also features. Detail is excellent, down to an array of bottles on the backbar and a keyboard instrument for budding bards in the corner of the bar which also boasts tables set up for dining and gambling.

The usual technological abilities of 0one Games shine through with their 'Rule the Dungeon' system that allows you to decide precisely what is printed on your floortiles - choice of hex grid, square grid or none at all, presence/absence of doors and furniture and so on.

In a nice design feature, all the residential rooms open to the outside - those in a hurry or wishing to avoid attention do not need to resort to climbing out of windows if they do not care to go through the common room. Indeed it looks a pleasant place to stay... and menu suggestions include giant black potatoes stuffed with cheese and onions, slices of salmon grilled with spices, and the renowned Heavenring caviar with toasted bread and fresh butter. The caviar is harvested from local salmon caught in the river that surrounds the village. Sounds like a nice place for a pub lunch!
