It's from an old Superman or Legion of Superheroes DC comic cover.

Could work as American Idol parody too.

I'll admit that this surprised me too. I didn't always understand the spoof covers, but I enjoyed them.

At least we'll get them all in the hardcover compilation!

Oh man! I subscribe via Comixology but now I have to get one of the collectables! That, my friends, is an homage to Curt Swan's cover for the April 1958 cover of Adventure Comics #247, which then featured the adventures of Superboy and which marked the first ever appearance of the Legion of Super-Heroes. Awesome!
