About Lore Delver

Warning: Backstory is quite long.

Backstory:
The pony now known as Lore Delver found his calling through a rather unexpected twist of events.

"Lore" was only a colt when he was out exploring. Suddenly, a great pit opened beneath him, swallowing him fully. During the fall, he lost consciousness.

When Lore came to, he was in a great underground expanse. Bumps and bruises weren't the worst of his injuries, however: he had lost his memory.

Alone in the dark of the cave, the young pony called out, trying to get any sort of assistance in returning to the surface and potentially finding his family.

No such answer came. Saddened, Lore sat down and cried. For loneliness, hurt, and fear.

After a moment, it dawned on the colt: he couldn't just sit here. He had to get out, to survive.

With a last sniffle, he set out. After a few failed experiments, he found the best way to traverse the cavernous terrain.

During his exploring, he found a grand chamber. Here, he met his destiny.

The chamber appeared to be some sort of burial chamber for ancient royalty. Somepony important, at any rate.

On a grand pedestal sat a dusty tome, etched with eldritch runes and other glyphs. Lore's curiosity got the better of him, and he opened the book.

Sygils, letters, numbers, and other odd symbols swirled about and forced their way into his head. His eyes began glowing with the knowledge the tome imparted.

Once the process had finished, Lore's vision returned and he noted that the image of the tome was now on his flank. What's more, he knew his name: Lore Delver. Whether he had been born to the name or it had been something deeper in him, he was uncertain. But he now knew how to get out of his predicament.

So, with far less trouble than he had had previously, he made his way out of the cave, returning to the surface of Equestria, a bearer of great knowledge.

Lore never regained his original memories. A kindly older couple took the young pony in and raised him as best as they could. His first exploration into things unknown and forgotten, however, had given him a wanderlust and urge to seek that no other pony could match.

Now, he spends his spare time travelling Equestria, seeking out riddles needing answers, locating forgotten treasures, and exploring ruins of the ancient world.


Appearance:
A slight green pony with black mane and tail. Wears glasses and frequently laden with saddlebags. His cutie mark is an open tome.

Personality:
Lore is a fairly serious fellow, known for having the right solution to almost any problem. It isn't unknown, however, for him to have a sense of humor, if even only a sense.
