Dunno if you were into this website back in the day. Launched in 2000? Dang. Anyway, after 4 years of no updates HOMESTAR and STRONGBAD made a video...for April Fools, but its something, right? Maybe they will make new content?

...oh, and heres the only thing I could find to tide me over. StrongBad introduces Wil Wheaton

The scariest of the Slayer troop is gone.

dammit!

Saw them with Megadeth and Testament 2 years ago, just before the mysterious spider bite. Powerfully evil experience. Loved every minute of it! Horns UP in memory. \m/ ^__^ \m/

ANGEL OF DEATH!

I wasnt sure where to put this. Winters' Passing.

This man was such a HUGE building block of my understanding of comedy and adults for that matter. My parents had a few of his comedy albums on reel to reel and we would listen to them constantly. Somewhere I read that the writers on "Davis Rules" would put "Winters does something" and gave him five minutes of every episode and those bits are what I remember from that show. Not to mention "the BIG DUBYA" he and others chased in that mad mad mad world.

I havent been hit this hard for a celebrity's death since Dio a couple years ago. Im sorry I didnt see this sooner to commemorate the genius of the man.

winter crazyness :)

I loved this man's art. I just found this out and am on the way to work, but will write more later.

Those 70's-80's Cracked Magazines are some of my building blocks for what my humor is today.

Here are two things Ive found in the last couple weeks that are both going to either make Mr Shiny laugh (with derision??) or stroke out. I felt like I shouldnt link em in the youtube thread, so I put them here.

Have you seen this comic?

or this shirt?

I see now that the shirt is no longer easily available and wondered how long it was going to take to get it brought down.

Watch this

then watch it again....theres a lot going on.

Just to double check here. When I ordered the Guide to River Kingdoms, the computer showed I had a 20$ store credit and it showed it was coming free (leaving @ 3$ in credit). On my invoice its showing Im being charged 16.99$. Which is right?

heres his wiki page.

I loved his Iron Man books back in the day. Sad stuff.

Hey guys-

Ive been trying to send emails to SKR and Chris Self over last night/this morning. They've bounced back. Has something changed or has Captain Tripps struck and Im all alone....?

I saw it opening weekend and again this last weekend. The 3-Dness itself was amazing and a great TMBG song! I loved it and wonder how it will transfer to the smaller screen. She seemed a little less clever than in the book though.

passed today.

Those three studio albums define excellence. Not to put down the Band of Gypsys...and I can totally get behind where Hendrix was going with them...but, wow. What Hendrix was to guitar, Mitch was to drums!

Arrived in Pryor with AXE underway here's there big ballad "Battles". They were alright.

Then Zebra came out and started with "Tell me what you want" then went into a Zep cover. They were alright.

Steelheart came out with a promo vid playing on the big screens that looked like the singer was flying a jet fighter, but then ended with a long shot after it landed, showing it was a two seater and there was still a pilot in the cockpit after the dude jumped onto the ground. sigh! Then he rode out onto the stage on a harley and went into "Stand up and shout" from the marky mark Rock Star movie. The guy can really belt out the notes! They did a few more songs and then the biggie, "Angel Eyes" then were told to wrap it up, so he asked the audience if they wanted "Blood Pollution" or "We all die young" from RockStar and the people screamed blood pollution!!! Awesome, No more ballads! So that was really cool.

UFO was minus Schenker. Didnt realize that, just assumed he'd be there. I have to get some songs of that band. Wow! There were a few that had excessive bluesy noodling that went for a little too long and on one song the head on top of the Marshall stack fried so the song ended with a bass and drum solo and Phil Mogg says..."so and so on lead guitar. silent but deadly!" HA! He was snarky like Johnny Rotten with comments about an energy drink he had onstage "Crunk" where it was 'having no effect, he would get back to us later' and thanking the large breasted women for inspiring the band to play better and saying 'sometimes as you get older you need stretchy trousers.' Weird.

Then ACE Frehley! The venue had a 'photo walkway' thing set up where you and about 15 others could go get in the front row for a couple minutes and take pix/vid, and were then escorted back away from the stage. We went down during the sound check and got to be there for almost the entire first song "Rip It Out"! He talked pretty negatively about 'his old band', but he had a drummer who sounded a lot like Paul. They did "into the Void", "Deuce", "Shock Me", "Parasite", "Rocket ride", "Rock Soldiers", "Snow Blind", "New York Groove", "Love Theme from Kiss", "Love Gun", "Shout it out Loud", "I Want You", he did the smoking guitar solo thing, which was pretty cool, and ended with "Cold Gin" and outro'd with the guitar part from Alive II when him and Paul would be on one riser and Gene would be on the other out over the audience and ended with pyro! really really cool! Got some pix of that.

Tried the sound check sneak for Tesla and they came on to "Comin atcha Live" and we got only stay about 30 seconds before they told us to move on. I had video going on my phone, but closed the case before hitting 'save' so that got lost, but I grabbed about 40 secs of the ending of that song and another 40 secs of "lil Suzy". He can still sing all those notes too. They did "Edisons Medicine" "Signs" and ended with "Modern Day Cowboy" which was great!

Didnt even try to go down front for Geoff and the boys. Here's the opening bit. They didnt go on till 1115 (like 45 mins after Tesla left stage). The crowd had pressed in behind us and I was afraid they wouldnt let us back to our seats...oh well. Two people in front of us left after Tesla, so we moved up to the barricade and had an unobstructed view. They did the whole Mindcrime disc in a play form with the original female singer onstage as Mary and with screens showing cartoon parts for the nurse saying 'perhaps you need another shot, you bastard!' and live action movies for the part 'kill her, thats all you have to do, and get the priest as well'. They added a bit where Sister Mary gets a phone call from Dr X and he tells her to put the gun in her mouth and shoot herself? and added a short song in there too (after Electric Requiem/drum solo)?? Geoff/Nikki burns the body and sings "I dont believe in love" which was amazing! They went away about 1215 or so and came back with "Walk in the Shadows" "Empire" "Take Hold of the Flame" AWESOME!!! "Jet City Woman" and asked if we wanted one more "YEAAAAAH!" So then I said "Queen of the Reich, gotta be" because we saw them loading pyro on the roof during UFOs set and knew there would be some s**~ shot into the air...can you guess yet?

friggin Silent Lucidity. So then we thought maybe the pyro tubes were loaded with sleeping gas. sigh. We started folding up the chairs and getting the umbrellas and stuff and THEN the pyro guy wakes up and the band is bowing and flinging drumsticks and sweatbands and then the pyro goes off. whoop!

Drove home and got here 330AM.

Another amazing influence on my life passed this morning. Lloyd Alexander wrote the Prydain chronicles (and the Westmark Trilogy and "The cat who wanted to be a Man" among a bunch of other things). The Prydain books are about the only thing I have read more than 3 times. I read them when I started learning D n D. I go back to them every once in a while to remember what it was like to be 12 and have such an easy life compared to the 'adult' troubles I have now.

Rest in Peace Sir.

here's the wiki

Have you seen this? Man, here is what the news should be about. Triumph of spirit.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

You guys better get him a case of Rolling Rock... or a hooker and a 8-ball... or a bootleg of Abba HD-DVD or something. This guy has been RELENTLESS ALL WEEKEND in answering questions and keeping the faith amongst the unwashed Paizo-zombies.

And the rest of the guys, too. I've seen Wertz and Jacobs answering at like 3 in the morning and Mona putting out fires at all times of the day. Thank you guys for all that you do!

Tom Moldvay, 58 passed peacefully into his next adventure on March 8th 2007 . Tom was a game designer and author most notable for his work on early materials for the fantasy role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons (D&D). As an employee of TSR, Inc., he authored or co-authored many landmark D&D adventure modules. During the early 80's when home computers were not prevalent, Tom was creating thought provoking games that stirred the imagination and were played by thousands of enthusiasts across the country. The Classic Rulebooks and Player's Handbooks written by Tom had been in print for several years and played so intensely that many gamers had them practically memorized. Odds were that if you'd played a published adventure, most likely you were a fan of Tom Moldvay. Most of those early modules achieved classic status, some of them being collected and reprinted again and again in the years that followed.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Tom graduated from Mayfield High School and went on to receive his Masters degree in Anthropology from Kent State University.

Preceded in death by parents Thomas and Selma Moldvay and sister Jody Brown

Tom is survived by his sister, Rebecca (David) Welner of Akron, nieces and nephews, Lauren Welner, Dave Welner, and Kurt Brown Jr.

Toms wishes were to be cremated without a formal service.

Holy crap! This guy wrote Isle of Dread and edited Keep on the Borderlands and had something to do with the almighty Slavers series (and about million other things early on in DnD). wow!

or...maybe the change is not needed. LOL!

My name is Rob Manning and I just found out I am moving this weekend and changed my Dungeon Mag shipping address. Dungeon #136 probably just shipped this week...should I wait to see if it forwards or buy it off the stands? Thanks

Not really anything to say here...but, when I re-upped my sub to Dungeon I noticed that I was getting close to 500 posts. I hit that milestone today...(now at 503). Anyway, thanks mostly to Rogue2 for coming up with the awesome thread of the three word game. That is where at least half of my posts have gone. WOW!

So, can you fix it? Please? Not a pressing matter in the big scheme of things. Though it is a fun way to pass the time and it was getting some heavy use over the weekend and then I zigged when I shoulda zagged or something and it's broke.

Holy cow! I just saw this BBC presentation on dvd over the weekend and it sparked a dozen ideas for different adventures/encounters/proposals! Another thread in this forum is talking about the Gaiman/McKean Mirrormask movie. Well, if that looks interesting, get this dvd and watch it. Or get the novel and read it, or get the comic adaptation and drool over that. The layers of character and originality of storyline are amazing! I mean, Charles DeLint does something similar set in the Pacific Northwest, but I haven't seen a miniseries of his stuff and this captures the spirit of those type of 'modern fantasy' stories perfectly. The names of the abandoned underground (read: subway) stops under London are really different (Earls Court is actually a court, Shepherds Bush has shepherds, Down Street goes perpetually down) and Mr Gaiman gives each one a distinct meaning as well as coming up with an overall good versus evil story to wrap up the characters. Watch this before you see Mirrormask. And help the homeless. And watch out for Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemaar.

At one time (sometime in the last year or so)...there was talk of updating the guidelines and cover/query letter for proposals. I'm guessing to change over to the 'Adventure Path' format of writing. Is that still going to happen?
