Ylavrdyn and her half-sister, Kyrx (a Fighter-Shadowdancer) were sent forth from their moderately successful Drow House [name withheld] by their mother with the charge that they range far and wide and establish themselves as premières of their chosen paths. In so doing, the matriarch planned to ensure her place as leader of the house against their possible rivalry, as well as to have field agents at her disposal.

Ylavrdyn and Kyrx have travelled the surface world for two decades, and together, have secured contracts with warlords; helped topple faltering kingdoms; and won a small but whispered reputation for bloody but disciplined mayhem.

Ylavrdyn, the elder of the two, has dedicated herself to the singular pursuit of martial excellence. This is her religion. Ylavrdyn identifies most with the tempestuous trickster god, known in some worlds as Enkili, while her sister adheres to Drendari (Enkili's daughter, and the Mistress of Shadow). Together they visit their Ideals' upon the towns and cities to which they travel as an expression of this devotion.

Always armed with her birthright, an Adamantine rapier, she carries a Mithril swordbreaker but only rarely wields it due to the demands of her particular fencing style.
Insightful as she is deft, Ylavrdyn is unpredictable and implacable in combat, and is willing to suffer wounds for the sheer opportunity to execute more effective strikes. Some have said (in hushed tones) that she is perhaps SadoMasochistic.

Ylavrdyn was raised with the belief that her bloodline was superior to that of the inbred Drow masses and corrupt Grand Houses, and this élan was brutally crafted through numerous rigours and trials. It was during the last of these that she had an epiphany which led to her following the Enkili-Ideal.
Although she is a rakehell by appearance of lifestyle, Ylavrdyn is much more self-disciplined than many may think, and best prefers to practise her path than to drug and wench-away her days.

Recently, Kyrx and she experienced an event which seemed to awaken them to a more 'multiversal' existence, when they travelled through an ancient and faulty Mirror of Travelling. Although they appear to have reached their intended destination, in transit they became aware of other realities in which the pair simultaneously co-existed. This has only driven them on to new plateaus of excellence and commitment.
