Appearance:

Yazmine is on the short side of the height scale, often sitting a few inches shorter than most women she comes across. Her skin tone is a warm medium to dark beige commonly found in the southern regions of her homeland, and her waist length hair is a dark brown that borders on black. Her features are generally soft, but her taunt tummy gives away her dedication to keeping herself in shape. Balance of the mind, body, and soul and what not. Deliberately ignoring local fashion in favor of the clothes from Qadira and Vudra, Yazmine is usually found covered with jewelry and sporting a saree made of fine silks in bright colors trimmed with gold.

Background (Things That Still Need Worked In):

~ she is a practitioner of whatever the Golarion equivalent of yoga is, believing in harmony between body, mind and spirit
~ she has some working knowledge of teas and a great appreciation for them I will probably move a point into Profession (herbalist) to reflect this, I just need to figure out where I want to move it from
~ father's name is Ardashir Petran
~ she has a household slave who is treated well and accompanies her everywhere. the slave is provided with a comfortable living arrangement and fine clothing. the slaves job is to ensure Yazmine doesn't ever need to lift a finger or do petty tasks such as errands or holding her own bag. Yazmine is quite friendly with her slave and often treats her more as a companion than a possession.
~ need to sneak in an example of her prideful self (as her drawback). idea: she's a hell of an ex-girlfriend who can throw vases at lovers who argue with her without having to even be near them. often gets upset when people backtalk her or don't allow her to do as she wishes, or don't do favors when she asks them to (work it all into story about an ex maybe?)

Background (Nobility and Ustalav):

A Qadiran native isn't a common sight in Ustalav and the open stares are difficult to ignore. But that hasn't stopped Yazmine from adorning herself in the lavish silks and gold that are so common in her homeland. To her, things around Ustalav could use a bit more color.

So what exactly is the daughter of a wealthy merchant from the exotic lands to the south doing in the county Lozeri? Her widowed father moved her up here with him when he arranged to marry the matriarch of a noble family. The noblewoman, Camelia Petran, and her family had quickly burned through their vast fortunes after the riots displaced them. Apparently no one had the foresight to consider that the money would eventually run out if they continued trying to live such a lavish lifestyle with no source of revenue.

The marriage between her father and Camelia was more of a business deal than anything else and Yazmine saw no problem in this. It was practical and everyone benefited. She and her father gained prestige and a title, while the Petran family's station and lifestyle was no longer in jeopardy due to missing finances.

Problems started about a month into the arrangement when the noblewoman; Camelia and her relatives began making extravagant and needless purchases. Her father was having none of those shenanigans, quickly putting an end to it all by ordering her to return everything purchased without his consent and enforcing a strict allowance of funds for the woman. Yazmine couldn't help but feel a slight gratification in seeing the woman put in her place, though she never expressed it in any way.

**Recently Added!**
As it stands, Yasmine is not a huge fan of her new step-mother and her frivolous ways. Yasmine was always brought up to be thoughtful and practical, especially in matters of money, and the woman's constant bickering, whining, gossiping, shopping, and general mannerisms grated on the calm and serene Qadiran. To make matters worse Camelia had a horrid habit of intruding into Yazmine's room, even when Yasmine herself wasn't present, and snooping around. Camelia hid behind excuses of girl-to-girl bonding and a motherly concern for Yazmine's well being when she was caught, but Yasmine highly suspected she was looking for her cache where she stored her gold. Telling her father of her suspicions seemed to yield results for a short time before she realized that Camelia had started to send servants in her stead. Persistence may have actually been Camelia's only redeeming quality.

The year after the marriage a correspondence came to Camelia summoning her to a meeting with the Count Beauturne. Yazmine's father was quick to intercept the letter; he had been monitoring most of Camelia's contact with others after an incident involving a stable boy and another local noble's son. After reading the Count's summons, her father determined this to be far too important of a meeting to send Camelia to. Instead he sent his daughter, who he had far more faith in as a representative of the family. He trusted her to make sound decisions and take careful actions that would not only make her father proud, but also benefit their standing within the Ustalavian hierarchy. This did not please the very disgruntled and jealous Camelia.

After meeting with the Count and hearing out his plot against the Palatinate Council, Yazmine was quick to offer her family's support to his cause. But not without a contract ensuring their anonymity in the entire endeavor should it fail, along with a few other stipulations.

Background (Growing Up):

Yazmine grew up in what most people would consider a palace in one of the wealthiest communities in Katheer. Katheer was a major trade route between the Padishah Empire of Kalesh and the rest of the Inner Sea region; an ideal place for a merchant as business savvy as her father. Yet no matter how much success he found, her father never seemed to think it was enough. He wanted titles and power to go along with his Scrooge McDuck levels of wealth. Yazmine didn't exactly agree that they needed more, she was quite content as it was, but she admired her father's determinations, persistence, and willingness to work hard to achieve his lofty goals.

With it being just the two of them and her father not trusting anyone else to properly raise his daughter, she was often taken along on her father's trade routes and business dealings. These excursions lead them through every imaginable country, exposing Yazmine to a variety of cultures and learning experiences. She had a certain knack for languages, quickly picking up the basics of the local dialects as they traveled country to country. With her father always busy in meetings or locked in intense rounds of bartering, she had time to explore the exotic locations free of adult intervention. Oh sure, the occasional bit of mischief happened, but Yazmine had a certain appreciation of the law and the predictability that offered which kept most of her shenanigans down to a minimum.

By the time she reached adulthood, Yazmine was a keen business woman herself, despite never having to put that talent to use. Everything she could have ever asked for was given to her on a golden platter. Her father would never forgive himself if one of her friends had something Yazmine wanted before her. According to him, she must always have the best, because she was quite clearly superior to all others.

Though her father was willing to lavish her in priceless gems and silks, all Yazmine really ever asked for was a tutor who could help her refine her budding magical abilities. Since she was young, she had found she could open and close doors from across the room, and from time to time she swore the passing thoughts of strangers invaded her own mind. Sadly, an instructor on such matters appeared to be near impossible to locate. She was going to have to develop this talent on her own.

Background (Harrowing):

Yazmine never met her mother; she had passed away due to blood loss during childbirth. She was always a source of curiosity to Yazmine and she would ask her father to tell stories about her on their many adventures across Golarion. Her father gladly complied, regaling her with tales of her mother's angelic beauty and compassionate heart. And brilliant sales tactics.

When she was about ten years old, she asked about an ornate harrow deck that was set carefully on display on the mantle. Her father explained that her mother had been a master harrower before he married her and that her predictions had never been wrong. Why, she had even predicted their marriage! Enthralled by the concept of seeing the future, Yazmine asked if she could use the cards like Mama. It was the only time her father had ever hesitated to give her something.

But he couldn't say no to such a reasonable and sweet request. He carefully brought the box down to her with a reminder of how precious and irreplaceable these cards were; they were a link to her Mama and needed to be treated with great respect. Yazmine made a solemn vow to treat the cards with the same care she would show to a baby bird and treasure them forever.

A few years and a couple tutors and books on harrowing later, Yazmine herself became quite adept at reading the cards. Harrowing became more than a hobby, and it earned her a few gold here and there for a reading among her father's wealthy friends and colleagues who found it amusing and never took it seriously. They probably should have. More than a few predictions of failure had come true and the once wealthy men and women found themselves with nothing but a copper to their name.

Now that she's in Ustalav and is settling in as best she can in the comparatively frigid land, Yazmine is considering opening her own harrow shop. The locals, particularly the Varisians, seem to hold harrowing in high regard, and are often willing to put forward coin to have their cards read. The fact that she's foreign seems to add a certain level of novelty for them to top it all off.
