Background Story

William Deschanel was born a farmer's son in a small village to the north of Vilerdan. Living a rough life until he was about 12 years old. At this point in his upbringing his father was imprisoned for killing the village's bartender in a drunken rage.

Now being the son of a murderer he was shunned by the rest of the village. For that reason there was nothing to hold him there, when a wandering druid that roamed the land found an aptitude towards nature's magic within him and made him his apprentice.

During the next decade William was indoctrinated in the art of druidism and herbalism. His master was a follower of Feronia, a demigoddess of fire and fertility. Young William soon embraced her teachings and realized that from death and ash, new life is soon to thrive.

Motivation

Faithful to Feronia, William is a protector of wildlife and is gifted in healing magic more so than other druids, restoring the spark of life in wounded creatures wherever possible.

On the other side the existence of unnatural monsters and undead kindles an anger deep within him. William sees it as his holy duty to Feronia and his druidic upbringing to eradicate such monstrosities, that upset the natural order, with cleansing fire. Hoping that the ashes and corpses of the abominations he leaves behind will nurture new life along the way.

For this reason he was eager to answer the Lord's request and travel to Black Reach, thinking this to be an opportunity to prove himself and his faith, supporting his fellow adventures with his medical skills and weeding out monsters.
