About Tamlakos

This character was originally made for a very high powered campaign that never got off the ground.
I liked the character so I am using its stats for a powerful demon in my homebrew world.

Character Sheet

Character Info:

Concept:

Primary Themes: Protection, Acid
Secondary Themes: Electricity, Fusion/Duality
Roles: Tank, Crowd Control, Out of combat utility magic
Neutral evil bodyguard/advisor character
A huge serpentine, four armed monster with two heads - uses his size to control his enemy's movements. Out of combat, has a bunch of utility from cleric and inquisitor - can switch to a smaller form to come along on more subtle missions and goals.
He will be acid and void/lightning themed. He was created when two angels were banished to the void, and came back as a corrupted monster.

Party Role/Build:

My character is built to be primarily crowd control and area denial physical character. He can make lots of attacks, but doesn't have the same accuracy as other characters, meaning he's most effective against somewhat weaker enemies. He will grapple, control or engulf these weaker enemies while his companions deal with more dangerous ones. He hits like a truck, but a lot of his extra damage is elemental that could be resisted by a smart enemy.
I didn't build him to have crazy amounts of immunities or anything - instead he's just fairly resistant against a good amount of things. His only true immunities are acid, electricity and disease. I feel like this will be more interesting for both me and the GM - fewer enemies are completely useless and fights will get to be less repetitive.
Instead of flat out resistances, I just made the character durable HP wise (more than 400hp while raging, over 540 if its the first fight of the day), and easy to revive or get back up after being downed.

Out of combat, he has 11 cleric and 9 inquisitor levels to aid him in noncombat things. In total, his domains are: Protection (Defense) as fiendish domain for survivability, Weather (Storms) for lightning theme, Travel for utility, and Healing as a partial domain from Inquisitor.
Despite size, I invested a bit in more stealth/subterfuge/social related things so I can use them when I reduce my size. This will let me go along on any more delicate adventures (don't want to be the heavy armor fighter that gets left outside all the time!)
Other characters will likely be the kings of utility and spellcasting, but he will still be able to help out.

Background Summary:

Two angels, Caphriel and Araton, went into a rage after mortals caused the death of a mortal vital to a prophecy that they were charged to protect, and had grown attached to. They destroyed an entire city in anger, and were quickly summoned back to the outer planes to be punished. They were banished to the void between planes.
After years, a creature clawed it's way out of the void. It was created when Araton and Caphriel were fused together and corrupted by a dark force in the void. It merged them and then bonded itself to the fusion, creating a corrupted creature of crystal with the powers of both angels. His multiple personalities split between destruction and finding a superior or ward to protect.

Background:

The creature known as Tamlakos did not begin his life as such. Before his creation, there were two angelic devas named Caphriel and Araton. These two proud and mighty warriors worked in concert to follow the will of the gods. Caphriel was ever vigilant and wise, and wielded a powerful lightning bolt - legend told that it had been gathered from the very first thunderstorm on Golarion.
Of the two, Araton was the more skilled warrior - in battles against demons, he was always the first one in, and the last one out. He wielded a great hammer of stone hewn from a powerful volcano infused with elemental energy.

Across the thousand of years of their service, the pair fought the demonic forces of evil across the mortal world and the outer planes, making a name for themselves as righteous warriors. They collected lost relics, hunted down rogue outsiders and demon summoning cults.
It didn't take long for Araton, who was much less patient, to grow angry with the mortals he protected as they lost the relics again and again, and sold their souls for power. Soon they requested for a new kind of quest from their superiors.
Soon their request came to fruition - they were charged with protecting a child, Kierra Thackeray, who had been recently born. Prophecy foresaw that the child would, in many years time, be critical in preventing a great evil alliance from forming in Hell. Her survival was critically important, and Araton and Caphriel would be charged with protecting her until the prophecy was fulfilled.
For twenty five years the two watched over Kierra, seeing her grow from childhood into adulthood while protecting her from both mundane dangers, and the several attempts on her life by the demonic forces. She had a safe and comfortable life without learning of her guardian angels' existences. Watching her kindness to her fellow mortals slowly warmed their hearts to humankind again.

Kierra eventually moved to the city of Iccot, and Araton and Caphriel followed quietly behind, ensuring that her apartment home was properly protected and sealed against evil.
Several months after her move, the two angels were invisibly patrolling the area around her home. Suddenly, a pain and an evil presence shot through them, paralyzing them in place. Several demons revealed themselves from the shadows, and clamped enchanted irons on the angels, draining them of their powers, and leaving them paralyzed.
It nearly an hour before someone walked by, and another before they were able to find a mage to remove the enchanted manacles. Araton and Caphriel rushed to Kierra's home, but found it empty and untouched. They revealed themselves to the owner of the property and demanded to know what happened, and he revealed that a man had paid him to tell Kierra to go to a building on the other side of the city.
When the angels got there, they found the remains of a demonic altar, and rage bubbled inside of them as they saw Kierra's slaughtered body - the only mortal they had ever grown attached to, dead, and their mission wasted. They returned to the property owner. "Do you know what you've done!?" they demanded. "It's not my fault she got herself killed!" the man exclaimed, clutching his bag of gold protectively.
With a mighty swing of his hammer, Araton obliterated the man, and part of the building. Their rampage extended to the streets, destroying entire buildings in their fury.
By the time their superiors forcibly summoned them to pay for the destruction and death they had caused, nearly half the city was in ruins. On the orders of their superiors, they were banished to sit and contemplate their sins for the rest of eternity in the void between planes.

But in the vastness of the void there are dark unspeakable things, and eventually one was drawn to the rage that still filled the two fallen angels. This entity, a crystal darker than pitch spoke to them, promising power, and freedom from the void. Over what felt like a thousand millenia, and the two listened to the dark crystal, and it corrupted them, fusing the three of them into one entity. 100 years after Caphriel and Araton were banished, this creature clawed its way out of the void, and into Hell. So began the story of Tamlakos.

The Prophecy:
The prophecy about Kierra preventing an evil was a somewhat self-referential prophecy. It referenced the creation several great forces of evil, and their banding together in Hell to create an unholy alliance. The prophecy stated that if Kierra could be kept alive, the alliance would be much weaker, and crumble.
With Caphriel and Araton being assigned to protect her, and their fall being the thing that was supposed to be prevented, the prophecy failed to come true and the evil alliance that would form would be complete.

Appearance and Personality:

Doodle I drew to help explain shape
Image I drew some inspiration from originally

Tamlakos is a huge creature with two serpentine heads, four clawed arms and huge crystalline wings. In place of legs there is a long snakelike tail over 40' long, and his upper body reaches a height of about 20' tall. Tamlakos's skin is covered in black crystalline scales, and jagged plates of a dark black crystal cover him like armor. These hide a core of powerful acid.
Tamlakos' two draconic looking heads work in concert as one entity. Tamlakos avoids speaking in tandem, and instead one head is usually keeping a vigilant eye on the area while the other focuses on the task at hand. Occasionally, when he needs to speak about one head or another, he calls them Tam and Lakos. The mouth of the left head, Tam, opened into an extra-dimensional space that Tamlakos uses to store things. Lakos, the right head, is able to spew acid and balls of dangerous sticky slime. Both heads have powerful jaws full of teeth, and lightly glowing green eyes.
He wields a crackling lucerne hammer of lightning, and can grow an incredible sharp crystal blade on its forearm.

Tamlakos is very protective of those under his charge. Though he doesn't have plans for world domination, he enthusiastically expands on plans of his superiors and companions. In addition to his more obvious and dangerous full form, he can change shape into a human form to be a competent infiltrator and investigator in his own right.

Personality:
Because Tamlakos is a fusion of two creatures (and was additionally corrupted by a third), he can sometimes seem to want two different things at a time. For example, the evil influence of the crystal is tempered by the desire to protect others - creating a loyal killing machine who will do whatever he needs to to accomplish a goal.
The crystal that corrupted the two angels into Tamlakos no longer has a distinct personality, but Tamlakos's two heads often argue with each other.
One is more serious but more hotheaded and brash, while the other is less so, but does more of the planning and plotting of the two. They occasionally have conversations or arguments with each other. It only sometimes gets physical.

As a player I'm going to let the character grow a bit more naturally than rigidly saying "he supports this/that", because this is after all his first few years back on the mortal planes.

Ability Descriptions:

In-world descriptions and explanations of abilities.

Mundane Wings - Tamlakos's wings appear like feathered angel wings, and upon further inspection, each feather appears to be a crystallized feather whose shape is very unlike the jagged edges and spikes of the rest of him.

Two-Headed/Bag of Holding/Slime Breath/All Around Vision - Tamlakos's heads work in flawlessly together, allowing him to think on multiple things at a time. Each head has different powers - the left can swallow things into an extradimensional void space, and the right can spit gobs of sticky slime meant to entangle rather than kill. It also lets him keep an eye out on multiple enemies, making him very difficult to flank and very alert.

Engulf and Devour Soul - Tamlakos's crystalline exterior hides a core of powerful acid. At will he can open this up to engulf creatures inside of the acid. The dark energies of his crystals feed on its soul, helping them regenerate and reconstruct.

Acid Control - At will Tamlakos can leak acid into a huge pool around him, or cease to do so. This acid is dangerous to both creatures and objects, and he can melt things at a touch.

Diamond/Regeneration/DR/Legendary Armor - The dark crystal that corrupted Tamlakos is extremely durable, and incredibly sharp. It is constantly growing, but this growth is vulnerable to powerful vibrations. It also gives him powerful abilities and stores his soul inside it's durable center.
It is shaped a bit like armor, as well as making up much of his normal scales and skin.

Legendary Weapon - When the two angels were banished, they managed to smuggle away their weapons. When the crystal fused them, their weapons fused as well - the lightning bolt and stone hammer because a lucerne hammer made of lightning.
