SPECIAL ABILITIES
--------------------
Elven Arcana At 2nd level, an ancient lorekeeper's mastery of elven legends and philosophy has allowed her to master one spell used by elven wizards. He selects one spell from the sorcerer/wizard spell list that is at least one level lower than the highest-level oracle spell he can cast. The ancient lorekeeper gains this as a bonus spell known. The spell is treated as one level higher than its true level for all purposes. The ancient lorekeeper may choose an additional spell at 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th, and 18th levels. This ability replaces the bonus spells he would normally gain at these levels from her chosen mystery.
Elven Lore An ancient lorekeeper adds Knowledge (arcane) and Knowledge (local) to his list of class skills. Whenever he makes a Knowledge check of any kind about a question regarding elves (creatures of the elf subtype), the ancient lorekeeper adds half his class level on his check. This replaces the bonus skills the ancient lorekeeper gains from his mystery.
Oracle Curse (Haunted) Malevolent spirits follow Rhegalion wherever he goes, causing minor mishaps and strange occurrences (such as unexpected breezes, small objects moving on their own, and faint noises). Retrieving any stored item from his gear requires a standard action, unless it would normally take longer. Any item he drops lands 10 feet away in a random direction. He receives mage hand and ghost sound to spells known.
Oracle Mystery (Lore)
Oracle Revelation (Sidestep Secret) Rhegalion's innate understanding of the universe has granted him preternatural reflexes and the uncanny ability to step out of danger at the very last second. He adds his Charisma modifier (instead of his Dexterity modifier) to his Armor Class and all Reflex saving throws. His armor’s maximum Dexterity bonus applies to his Charisma instead of his Dexterity.
Unfinished Business Once per day you may use speak with dead as a spell-like ability. When using the spell in this manner, you must use it in the area where your target died and it must be used within a day of the creature’s death. You do not require a complete body as the ability speaks with the spirit and needs no corporeal connection. Once per combat, as a standard action that provokes attacks of opportunity, you conjure forth a spirit from a creature that died within the last five minutes and with three miles of your current location. The spirit appears in a space you choose within 25 ft. of you, and performs a standard action of your choice. Any attack it makes count as having the ghost touch weapon property.

RACIAL TRAITS
--------------------
Darkvision Aasimars can see perfectly in the dark up to 60 ft.
Daylight Aasimars can use daylight once per day as a spell-like ability with a caster level equal to the aasimar's class level.
Deathless Spirit Particularly strong-willed aasimars possess celestial spirits capable of resisting the powers of death. They gain resistance 5 against negative energy damage. They do not lose hit points when they gain a negative level, and they gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against death effects, energy drain, negative energy, and spells or spell-like abilities of the necromancy school. This racial trait replaces celestial resistance.
Truespeaker There are some aasimars whose language transcends all boundaries. They gain a +2 bonus on Linguistics and Sense Motive checks, and they learn two languages each time they gain a rank in Linguistics. This racial trait replaces skilled.

HISTORY
--------------------
Most of the beings called ‘aasimar’ are the reincarnated survivors of the human army that marched against the high elves and witnessed the death of the elven goddess Srasama five centuries ago. Many forget, however, that there were two armies present at the fall of Srasama. The man known today as Rhegalion Arbalistre stood that day on the field of battle (bearing a long-forgotten elven name) as a cleric of Srasama, striking down human interlopers with the divine power of his goddess. He witnessed her death, a vision burned into his mind as her divine gifts fled from his body. A human soldier pierced the elf through the heart as he fell to the ground while the goddess burst into holy fire.

Rhegalion awoke three days later on the field of battle, amid the bodies and spirits of his fallen brethren and the many human holy warriors who died that day. He marched with the spirits, one of thousands shuffling amongst the bodies to the Bleak Gate. In those first moments, with much of his life forgotten, he reflected on the pointlessness of the war against humanity. The spirits of his people and theirs seemed indistinguishable in the shadowy realm of the afterlife. Before he passed through the Bleak Gate, however, Rhegalion awoke fully to realize that he was still alive and had been fully reborn. While the vision of the dead faded mostly from his view, he continued to see spirits through the years as they passed through the Gate that he was denied.

Rhegalion discovered over the centuries that he was not alone in reincarnation, though all of his fellow ‘aasimar’ (an elven word, he noted with some irony) were of the humans present at the fall of Srasama. In the centuries that he wandered, he came to believe that he could help humanity develop into a race free of primitive fear, and that the elves were not as infallible as they had believed. He lived, died, and was reborn again and again. In each form, he recalled the moment of Srasama’s death, his passage to the threshold of death, and his decision to help strengthen and develop humanity. Each of his lives bore a different name, a different face, and a different personality. Some of his lives lasted decades, while others were measured less than a year. None of his deaths occurred naturally. In each rebirth, he traveled further from Crisillyir and Elfaivar upon re-awakening.

A year ago, Rhegalion died and was reborn again. In this life, he was returned to life on the coast, amid the waves of the Avery Sea, just outside the city of Flint. With the knowledge of his purpose and the belief in his guidance by the spirits, who give him power to control the minds of men, Rhegalion set out to assist the nation of Risur – the best hope for humanity to come to its true purpose and power.

Rhegalion is actually somewhat fond towards the other aasimars, seeing a spiritual kinship in them. His death and rebirth changed his essential outlook towards humanity and elves. In his first life as a high elf, he was convinced of their superiority and saw humanity as little more than primitive, superstitious cave dwellers. In his time that he spent between worlds, he saw that there was little difference between the spirits of men and the spirits of elves. He sees himself as no longer an elf, but rather a guide for all creatures - especially humanity. In fact, he is viewed as a traitor by many elves; one of his reincarnations was executed for heresy against elven ways by the Vekeshi, something that has not endeared him to their movement.

In the centuries, he has died and been reborn several times. With some of his rebirths, he came back somewhat more cynical and ruthless in his methods for guiding humanity. Over the centuries, this ruthless nature dominated more and more of his lives. His strength over the spirits allows him access into the minds of others, granting him the ability to force his will upon others. While he does not see this as a viable way for long-term change, he does see it as a way to further his goals. He takes a fairly expansive view of humanity, thinking about his goals in a broad sense while generally ignoring the needs and desires of the individuals if they do not mesh with his idea of humanity's future.

In a way, he still practices a form of seedism. Taking advantage of his long cycle of rebirths, Rhegalion set up a number of plans and plots that would take decades or even centuries to come to fruition and further his goals. While he has little memory of them now, or what they entail, he has faith in his own ability to predict and guide humanity for years in advance. As the sole known elven aasimar, he has many allies and enemies that he has no current memory or knowledge of - something that causes him to be cagey and forward-plotting at all times.

In a dark way, his idealism after his revelation about the nature of life and death has been ground down by his cycle of death and rebirth. After all, none of his deaths were natural. He sees nothing wrong with tearing into the mind of someone who does not fit his vision and utilizing them to his own ends. It is good, then, that he has only good intentions for the future of humanity.

APPEARANCE
--------------------
In each of his reincarnations, his appearance varied slightly but always marched steadily away from elven features and towards human features. In his current appearance, he has slickened, dark brown hair and an impeccably-trimmed goatee that would have been physiologically impossible in his first life. Rhegalion is tall and graceful, with slightly pointed ears and an angular, unearthly face making it difficult for anyone to mistake him for human. He generally wears clothing that is well-made and well-tailored. His grooming and clothing are likely the result of the subconscious draw towards elven standards.

CONTACTS
--------------------
Joren Ettevand, Aasimar Male: Having met approximately fifty years ago with different faces, Rhegalion and Joren have kept tabs on one another for decades. Both share a desire to see humanity prosper and develop further, having discussed these plans anew several times. Every time one of them dies, they have an agreement that the other will seek him out in his new incarnation to pass on information about their past and help acclimate him to the world. Joren has died and been reborn twice in this period, while Rhegalion has had four rebirths. This time, Joren found the newly-reborn Rhegalion working in a fishing village just outside Flint; he explained what he knew about the goals that Rhegalion had worked in his previous lives. They set out for Flint together and volunteered to assist the RHC. Joren is a sorcerer of some power, capable of great feats of fiery destruction.
Savriyar Hilsunael, Elven Male: A Vekeshi mystic and expert swordsman who ended Rhegalion's most previous life. Hundreds of years old, Savriyar considers Rhegalion a danger to elven interests and a traitor. He has hunted him throughout the years whenever word of a powerful elven aasimar reached him, ensuring that his power is cut down before it grows too strong. He has killed Rhegalion - or the Immortal Traitor, as Savriyar calls him - no less than six times over the last two-hundred years.
