Wild Empathy - A ranger can improve the initial attitude of an animal. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly.
To use wild empathy, the ranger and the animal must be within 30 feet of one another under normal visibility conditions. Generally, inf luencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute, but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time.

Reed grew up in the rich forests of Taldor, the son of a woodcutter. The young boy learned some of his father's trade, but mainly just picked up a love of axes and the forests. He seemed poise to follow in his father's humble footsteps but for a chance encounter with a curious explorer in the small town nearby.
Reed was going to buy some of the staples he and his family could not provide on their own, and ran into a man asking about some ruins that were supposedly close by. The young man didn't know of the ruins, but learned from the man that he was with something called the Pathfinder Society. After a talk with his parents, stating his desire, he found the man the next day and asked if he could travel with him and ultimately join the Society. The man accepted, and Reed started his career as a Pathfinder.
