If races are strictly core only then I guess Muqaq wouldn't be a good fit for this game. Best of luck to you all and good gaming!

Hello, I played this guy in another game of LoF that died before we finished book one (we were well into the process of retaking Kelamarane). I'd like to play him again, and finish the AP.

He's arcane and covers healing a bit too. He'll be going mostly sorcerer in the future though.

I'd need to look at the gameplay thread first and make sure I'm cool with your DMing style, but posting multiple times per day is fine with me (racked up ~20,000 posts in PBP over the last two years). But if I like what I see, and you like what you see, I'll rework him to meet the requirements for the game.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Guys, I'm going to withdraw from this game. I've got too much going on to stay invested in something running so slowly. Sorry to pull out, but thanks for the long run DM Stormwind (and others). Hopefully I'll see you guys around the boards in the future.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

In less than 24 hours I'll be heading out for three weeks of international travel. There will be times when I'll be able to post, but other times I may not be able to. Please bear with me, and/or bot me as necessary.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Muqaq just sighs. "Are you okay, Gruthic?"

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Moved us into what I'd consider the most tactically sound formation. Especially if the snake is huge sized. If it's large instead of huge, Gruthic should be 5' further down.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Being higher gives you +1 for melee, but not range.

Once everyone's in position Muqaq will cast Mage Armor and Bless. Then he'll tell Gruthic to make some noise and throw stuff into the building until the snake comes out. Was Gruthic able to determine whether it had 10' or 15' reach when he saw it before?

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Well, assuming it's a 5' door, we should be able to get it boxed in with Gruthic, Seif and Akhom. If it's large or huge and you box it in halfway through the door, it will take squeezing penalties (-4 to hit, -4 to AC) making it much easier to deal with. If it has 10' reach, you stand 15' back from the door. If it has 15' reach, stand 20' back. That way it stays in the door. Archers should be able to stand anywhere really. The melees would either full defense, or fight defensively while the archers do the damage. They are just there to keep it in the right spot. It's probably only got 1 or 2 int, so it's not going to be strategizing beyond "mmm...food."

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"If we can trap it in the doorway its mobility should be limited, making it as easier target. If Gruthic focuses solely on defending himself he'd make an appetizing yet near impenetrable target."

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"I like to know the opinions of those I'm responsible for," Muqaq says simply. "Fine, it's settled. We'll aid you. We will return with the head. Good day." With that the ifrit turns and walks out of the building.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"Is that a no vote?" Muqaq says, raising one eyebrow at the strange desert woman.

Does the phylachtery of faithfulness have anything to say about this, DM? Would making a deal with the harpy be violating Sarenrae's creed?

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Boo! Table talk is a time honored RPG tradition. But if you want to play it like that, then we'll handle it IC.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"Sounds reasonable to me. We were planning on removing the reptile anyway." Muqaq looks to the others to gather their reactions.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

We can't really have a harpy and her elemental? lover running around in Kelmarane any more than we can have a tribe of gnolls. So, what are we going to tell her?

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"Do you have any issue with us killing the rest of them?"

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Muqaq looks wary but makes his way slowly into the building. When he sees the harpy, his eyes momentarily go wide before he regains composure. "Good day," he says by way of greeting. "Forgive our intrusion into your dwelling. Are you associated with the gnolls dwelling here?"

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"Hopefully not ours," Muqaq says drolly.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

S~%!. Harpy. Not good.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"No, there is no other way. We must ensure the entire village is free of threats. Gruthic, go on inside and find out who's in there working."

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"I agree," Muqaq says, and makes his way out of the building.

On to the next one.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

"I'm not sure either."

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"Then let's continue on to the next building."

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"What do the rest of you think?"

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"We'll have to slay the beast eventually to retake the town. Want to prepare ourselves and then kill it now? We can use ranged attacks to draw it out, and you and Seif can flank the door attacking it as it emerges, Gruthic." Muqaq says after the dwarven scout makes his report.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Gruthic goes in quiet-like, looks around and doesn't engage anything. We all wait right outside the building and come if he calls.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"Sounds quite reasonable to me," Muqaq replies to the dwarf. "Make it so. I would remind you that we are both in Lady Almah's employ, I am simply your commander for the moment."

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

We need to clear the buildings. Lets start at B1->B6->B7->B5->B4->B3->B2->B8->B13->B12->B10 ->B11.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Okay, now that I've rested the healing I rolled upthread is legit N'Dateh. Apparently there is no wand of CLW available.

I'm ready to head back and clear the ruined buildings in the town one by one now.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"I have no such skills, m'lady," Muqaq replies. "I'm sorry."

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Agree 100% on the wand.

"I haven't had time to look the book over in detail yet Seif, there will be time once we have reclaimed Kelmarane."

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Wait, now I'm confused. Did we rest yet or not? We need to rest if we didn't rest yet, in which case wait for that healing because I don't have those spell slots yet. As soon as we're done resting/regaining spells, whenever that is, we should head back.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Cure Light Wounds Rafik: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Cure Light Wounds Rafik: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Cure Light Wounds N'Dateh: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Muqaq tends to some of the druid and her horse's wounds.

Did you include healing from the rest, N'Dateh?

Ready to head back to Kelmarane here.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"I would sweep the town to find any treasure or hidden enemies, and then zero in on the battle market once we're certain there's nothing to creep up behind us," Muqaq replies.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Muqaq tells lady Almah of their battle at the crucifixion hill, and how he suspects that there are few gnolls left in Kelmarane. He continues by telling her of his plan to return as soon as possible and finish clearing out the town. "I feel like we're almost there. After we recover our spells we'll be ready to return and finish the job."

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Muqaq will make sure the wounded priest is settled into a bed, and has someone to look after him and then will go in search of some food.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

I've heard of it also, but we always called it a litter? -shrug-

"Yes, let's not dally," Muqaq says, pushing the group on back to the monastery.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

We were just going to swing by there (the Nethys shrine) before heading back to the Monastery, to leave a more confusing trail for any gnolls who might follow.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Muqaq nods to his suli brother. "Agreed. I doubt anyone is watching, but better to head for the chapel to Nethys first, then break off and change our path in the pesh fields. We should have enough cover in the cacti to change directions without being seen."

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

I already stated, lets go back and drop this dude off, and rest as quickly as possible before returning to finish clearing out the town.

"Grab him, we go back to the monastery."

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"Do as you please N'Dateh. But, you will have more success in a group," Muqaq states tiredly to the strange woman.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Whenever my kindergarteners at school see me checking posts on my phone during breaks they always ask me about it too. The kids love the message board avatars.

Tell him Muqaq (mu-kack) says hello in a funny voice.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"My healing energies are nearly spent. We have deprived the gnolls of more of their forces without losing any of our own. I think our plan was a success besides Akhom showing up extremely late. It's probably best to get this man back to the monastery, rest to regain our spells and then come back here to finish off the gnolls as quickly as possible. It seems impossible that there could be more of them left than what we've already killed."

Would Serera benefit from further HP healing, or is all his damage Con damage now?

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Muqaq lays his hand on Rafik's flank. "May the Dwanflower relieve your pain noble Rafik," he says. His hand glows with the sun's light and some of the horse's wounds heal.

Cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Meh. I guess leave him for now then. Muqaq doesn't know how to build a ladder, isn't remotely strong enough to hold him up, and I don't really care that much about guy we don't know.

Muqaq seeing no way to get the man down without killing him shrugs in helplessness and waits to see if anyone else can do it.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Why don't we just rip his arms off the nails and then heal him right after?

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

What about just climbing up and untying him and then removing the nails?

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

"The loot can wait until we get this cross down. I'm not strong enough to lower it by myself, can the rest of you please help me?"

Once the cross is laid flat on the ground, Muqaq will go about untying the man, and removing the nails. If he's conscious, Muqaq will encourage him, "Hold still. We'll have you free in a moment. Who are you? How is it you came to be here?"

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

After seeing that no one on his team is mortally wounded, Muqaq rushes over to the crucified man. If he is still alive, Muqaq will try to get him down and heal him, in whichever order seems to make more sense. "Seif, aid me please," he calls to the stronger man.

Is it the priest of Nethys?

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

I know, but he's essentially fleeing and Muqaq can't really do anything to him at this range. So to Muqaq's eyes, the fight is over.

HP:27/27;1st Sor- 6/6, 1st Or- 2/5, Flame ray 9/9

Muqaq approaches the majority of his companions and says, "Excellent work, friends. We've won the day," He smiles and asks, "Who's still seriously injured?"

Double move again.
