About LarethBackground
Spoiler:
Lareth wasn’t always a hothead. In fact Mother Gimble, Matriarch of his foster family, used to say “that boy is as calm as the lower Nentir on a lazy Sunday.” Of course this was usually just before kicking him out of bed because he was late doing his chores on the Gimble farm. No, the hothead part came later, as the years grew past and Lareth found that being an orphan son of one sylvan parent wasn’t always the best way to keep out of trouble. Perhaps if he knew what happened to them, then he would finally be at peace with their deaths. But no one would say.
He first got his reputation around the time he turned 12 when the miser Armos Kamroth sent his toughs out to the Gimble farm to collect a late payment. Well “First in the fight and last out of it” Mama Gimble said when the neighbours asked later. It seems Lareth hadn’t taken kindly to what some of the toughs were saying about their best milking cow “Betsy.” It was soon after this, due to the increased rent from Kamroth, that he got work mucking out stables for Lannar Thistleton at the Fallcrest stables. He would often go with the other stable hands after work to hang around at the Lucky Gnome which inevitably led to many street brawls between the workers and the River Rats who were always trying to big note themselves. Never one to back out of a fight and always first in to defend a friend, especially the younger and weaker ones, Lareth formed fast friendships which hold him in good stead to this day. On his daily trips through Wizard’s gate he got friendly with some of the guards and then that no good Sergeant Murgiddin started filling his head with notions of adventure and a soldier’s life. This has finally led to Lareth enlisting in the Fallcrest Guard and at age 15 he now has one last summer to spend with his friends before starting his new career. XP : ?
