Aurelia was born to a Taldan trader and a Chelish banker of relatively low reknown and average standing. Both were worshippers of Abadar, the Taldan trader more obvious about his devotion to the God of wealth and commerce than his wife, a woman who strived to make her clients successful and happy in such an unfair economy. Although social standing plays a large part in the Chelish community, there was something to be said for the happiness of the city as a whole, and its functionality in the sense of a unit. Although he has wealth and standing in Taldor, he is somewhat of a nobody in Cheliax, despite the nation's relations with Taldor. Desperate to see his wife succeed with her small bank, he has spent a great deal of time in Cheliax supporting her dream of a happier, brighter Westcrown; though he often dropped hints of taking her back to Taldor where they can be happy and live in splendor. Just as the businesswoman was about to give up on her banking business, she found out she was pregnant.
It was truly a miracle, and an unexpected one at that. Aurelia was born healthy and untainted by the devilish influence of the area; much to their relief. She did, however, possess a strange birthmark on her chest, one which her parents suspected was a mark of Abadar's influence. Feeling encouraged, they decided to stay persistent, taking their daughter's birth and given mark as a sign of influence, and continued their lives in Cheliax. Their lives were relatively average for their standing. She faced difficulties for being of Taldan decent, but her father was quick to build her backbone for such criticisms by taking her to Taldor on excursions to meet her extended family on his side. She learned both Taldan customs and Chelish ones, giving her a strong sense of law and her place in the world. She, as her father, found it frustrating that she did not always garner the respect of the Chelish people as she did in Taldor, giving her a bone to pick with the system at a relatively young age. Luckily, feeling a strong connection with Abadar gave her unshakable faith in herself and her abilities to influence those around her in a more efficient way.
