the prettiest cat
in all of the town
she searched for a hat
that looked like her gownand then she found one
right under a tree
away from the sun
amongst some debrisThe top was dotted
the same as her gown
the bottom slotted
and fit like a crownshe danced all around
deliriously
but then she laid down
right under the treeand there the cat stayed
so it has been said
but where she once laid
there now is a bed

I love riddles, but what am I actually trying to solve here? There is nothing like a "what am I?" objective in this at all, unlike your previous riddle which was quite good. Trying to see what I am supposed to actually try to figure out. As it is, it seems more like a poem than a riddle. I am sure the riddle is good, but as far as solutions go, I could say "the cat is blue" because I see no objective here. Do I need to figure out what the dress was like or what the bed is or where the cat went, or what?

Azure_Zero |

You left out some needed information.
this is a hard one, but still good
original
"What clings to you?
Bear it—you cannot.
Accept it—you cannot.
But hidden—it is from you.
Recite its name."
A tweaked version
"What clings to you?
Bear it—you cannot.
Accept it—you cannot.
But hidden—it is from you.
What is it."
Both have same answer, yet different answers.
And type what you thing the answer to either the original or tweaked versions, in a spoiler

I guess you could call it a puzzle.
It's a puzzling thing.
A cat finds a hat under a tree?
Where did the bed come from?
Why was the hat away from the sun?
Why was the hat amongst some debris?

Azure, clarification is requested. To bear as in to carry physically or to bear as in to handle something emotionally/spiritually? Accept as in physically accept like "Sure, I'll take that" or accept as in you can not mentally accept something, like refusing to accept string theory over loop? Too many variables due to the English language. it is like asking someone to spell blue without telling them if you mean the colour, or "to blow."

I think I know about making riddle but thanks for the advice anyway.
I really didn't think this riddle was at all hard. My sister figure it out before I finished reading it too her.
Everyone's brain operates differently in processing data, some are more logical, and procedural, others pick up ques and get an answer.

Azure_Zero |

Of course! What's this have to do with my riddle?
Don't take this the wrong way.
Your sister would know a bit on how you think, and draw on that for ques in the riddle when you gave it to get an answer.
Now I could not say for certain that is the case, she could have processed it logically and in a procedural manner.
the first part of your puzzle, tells me a cat found a top hat
second part, the top hat was under some branches that broke off
the last parts I have no clue.
The best I can figure is the answer is "Dreams"
given that cats, don't wear cloths or dance,
the debris representing a chance for a nightmare

Nice riddle, karl : )
Not sure about the other one. I can think of one thing that's hidden from me, but then, if I know it then it isn't : p
Thanks!
I think that the trick with the other riddle is that:

I though you figured it out and that's why you were posting.
I good riddle doesn't need confirming.

Yeah Karlgamer, there is no way I could have got that. Not just because of a lack of information on what I was supposed to actually be solving, but because of what the answer was according to Dudemeister. Where I am, we don't have ones that look like that. Never seen one in my life. We only have the brown ones. Some riddles are not possible for some people to do based on what they have been exposed to in life.
Azure, I can't get yours due to knowledge of my self. There is nothing I can not bear, what with what I have been through in life (10 relatives dying in under 3 years) so I have been hardened, and I can accept anything. The hidden part is the only part of the riddle I look at. So I suppose some people actually can't solve that one based on how their life is in the way that riddle is presented. But hey, not everything is for everyone, right? I do know that dudemeister had to have been wrong on this one. Because his answer is something people CAN bear and CAN accept and usually does not stay hidden from them.
I do still love riddles and would love to see more fro both of you. Loved Karlgamer's first riddle.

As far as I'm concerned there isn't a lot of specific knowledge needed. I didn't acquire any specific knowledge to write it. I feel that all of it is fairly common knowledge. No specific name is required. general knowledge of the subject which can me gleamed from popular media.

Jaçinto |
Fair enough, but I tend not to look at a lot of popular stuff. I watch more obscure movies and play games along the lines of Superman for N64. Not a bad riddle. Just couldn't solve it with the knowledge that I have. Never seen a spotted one in my life until after it was said what it was and I had to look it up. And I have never heard of cats having any interest in those. I thought that was pigs.

Karlgamer |

Karl riddle was relatively easy, even if I don't get the cat part. There were enough information in the other text to solve it.
I must say that language is always a barrier when doing riddles.
In hindsight I could have replaced cat with chap and replace hat with cap, but then he would have been wearing a gown and it would be a huge cap in comparison. Although I've seen them get pretty big.
Language is also a barrier when writing them as well. I'm just happy when someone figured it out and doesn't need me to confirm it.
