day action shirk work and see how the lowest part of this ship is doing.
best see how the ship is doing below the waterline, don't want to be in a ship with holes everywhere, i will find out when i have a chance to slip away.
stealth: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 perception 17 with dark vision if that matters, somehow i dont think i made the stealth check
Lorelei |

Influence (attempt to influence (bluff, diplomacy, intimidate) a single NPC)
Diplomacy check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Talking up whatever likely looking target is in my area. Wanting to see what info I can get about the ship and our destination.
DM Nerk |
Remember, if you shirked, you're at -2
Since this is lowest area of the ship, you are shirking where you are supposed to be. Since you're just looking at the ship itself to make sure it's in good shape, you're not in much trouble when the big Rahadoumi you're working with tells you to quit mucking about and get to work.
At some point, you find yourself catching your breath next to the redhead who healed you on the deck. She doesn't know much, but she does whisper that you should look in the locker at the back corner of the crew's quarters, next to the stairs to the galley.
I'm sure someone can point you to the quartermaster's store. It's right off the Galley, so you'll see Fen. And you'll get to meet Cut Throat Grok, a slender half-orc with a truly impressive scar across her neck.

sure it stinks down here but not that bad as far as a punishment goes. seems i will have to find out how bad it is down here latter when no one is around. poor guy is probably going to be down here for days.
can i do a knowledge nat or survival check to see if the vermin are eatable and or disease free if so

DM Nerk |
Sorry Odiseo, lost you in the shuffle there.
You find nothing in particular, other than some fascinating cloud formations.
DM Nerk |
"What're you here for?" the man growls, rubbing his eyes and squinting at you.I'll need you to roll a d6 to see what your job for the day is, please.
DM Nerk |
The rats are filthy and probably disease-ridden, but you notice some of the spiders are the kind that you don't want to get bit by.
You are done dicing until the night, but feel free to RP.

You are done dicing until the night, but feel free to RP.
Odiseo Haddad |
Odiseo drops the last coil of rope onto the deck and takes a seat upon. He's never worked so hard in his life, but his hangover seems to have sweated out of him. He pulls his cravat off and uses it to mop his brow.
"So..." he says to the big man with the scarred throat who's also been working the rope, "How did you end up on this pleasure cruise?"
Lorelei |
I bet I can guess who this book belongs to just from the smell.
Tucking the dagger far down into her boot and then hiding the book under he shirt, Lorelei continues about her duty for the day.
Now if I can just manage to find my own belongings...
Havok Fingerburst |
Stealth Check 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20
Havok attempts to keep some of the rats to roast later as he's sure that he will still be hungry later. He agrees with Ornotck that they should try to keep some.
To Ornotck, in Orcish
Having finished with his work, he sneaks off to see the quartermaster.
Ragnar Stolen-Voice |
Odiseo drops the last coil of rope onto the deck and takes a seat upon. He's never worked so hard in his life, but his hangover seems to have sweated out of him. He pulls his cravat off and uses it to mop his brow.
"So..." he says to the big man with the scarred throat who's also been working the rope, "How did you end up on this pleasure cruise?"
"Guht'uhnna fught uh cuhdduhn wuhn.", he says, coiling and tying a rope. Noting Odiseo's likely puzzlement, he holds up both fists and pantomimes boxing, then slugs one fist against his cheek- a knockout. He pokes his chin at the other man. You?
Odiseo Haddad |
Between the man's speech and his gestures, Odiseo manages to get the gist of his explanation.
"I heard some bad news, then I took some bad advice," he replies. "And then, in Port Peril, I accepted a free drink and woke up here."
He drapes the now sodden cravat over his shoulders and holds a out a hand to the other man. "My name's Odiseo."
Ragnar Stolen-Voice |
The Ulfen likewise extends a tattooed hand, gripping Odiseo's a little tighter than is comfortable.
"Ruhgnuh"., he says, being careful to clearly enunciate the syllables with his mouth for lip-reading.
DM Nerk |
"You're what they gave me to work with?" he grins, and rummages around for a clean bowl. "Then we will work together. I'm Ambrose Kroop, but round here everyone calls me Fishguts."
He sets a sack of flour on top of a barrel, making an impromptu stool. Then he fills the bowl with rum and slides it across the counter. "Take a seat and have a drink, and tell me the news of the world."
Fishguts is clearly too drunk to function. You'll need to make a Profession: Cook check to feed the crew, and a Fort save. You will be fatigued (-2 to STR and DEX) and gain +1d4 ⇒ 4 CHA for 1d8 ⇒ 8 hours. You will also take 1d2 ⇒ 2 CON damage from the rum.
When you sneak up to the quartermaster's store, you see a weedy half-orc with a gigantic scar across her neck. Her room is off the galley, where you see Fen making food and talking to a short, fat man who seems to be in danger of nodding off at any minute. The store itself is a large closet, packed with chests and cases and loose gear.
Grok is sitting on a small chair that is squeezed in among the other contents of the room, and gives you a fierce grin as you approach. "A new face, eh? Ye can call me Cutthroat or Grok, as ye please." She illustrates her nickname by drawing a finger across the scar bisecting her neck. "What can I do for ye?"
Fen Tova |
profession(cook): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Fen coughs when she first sips from the bowl, but tentatively tries again and ends up drinking the whole thing. She passes the day chatting happily with Fishguts, and somehow manages to throw together a decent meal despite her first taste of rum.

Havok Fingerburst |
Havok looks at Cutthroat and gives her a cute smile. He speaks in Orcish to her.
"Hello pretty Half-Orc lady, I am Havok! You know good place for drink? Havok head still hurt and drink take away hurt!"
While talking to her, he quickly tries to case the quartermaster store without seeming obvious
DM Nerk |
Consider yourself done dicing for the day, unless there are any questions you want to ask Fishguts during the course of the day.
Though you don't make much of an impression on Grok, you do have the opportunity to scan the joint. The biggest objects are two massive barrels, but worked into the space around the barrels are two wooden lockers, two wooden chests, a wooden trunk and a metal trunk. All are conspicuously locked. On a not entirely unrelated note, you also spy a keyring on the half-orc's belt.
Havok Fingerburst |
Havok begins to tear up and his ears droop, he slowly turns around and begins to walk away. He runs up on deck and waits for the rest of the day to finish.
I will wait until everyone else is good and before we move into nighttime actions. I will be sneaking back down to the quartermasters once nighttime actions start
DM Nerk |
I think everyone is done with the day, except possible RP. To keep things moving, I propose that we keep things moving into dinner time. If there is RP to continue from the day, we can post it in spoilers, just to keep it clear.
As supper and rum are dished out on the deck, Misters Plugg and Scourge come up from below, leading a pirate with his wrists bound in front of him. Ornotck and Havok will recognize him as the pirate they saw chained to the mast in the bilge.
"Aboard the Wormwood, we always try to provide some entertainment before you eat," Plugg says, with a nasty grin on his face. "So it is my pleasure to present Jakes Magpie who was caught ... er."
"Stealing from the quartermaster's store," Scourge reminds him.
"Allowing him the pleasure of being keelhauled for your amusement."
A rope is looped under the ship, and Jakes is tied hand and foot to either end of it. With a cheerful laugh, Plugg plants his boot on Jakes's behind and pushes him over the side. Then he and Scourge take either end of the rope and drag the poor soul under the boat, keeping the lines tight.
Twelve rounds later, what's left of the pirate comes up on the other side of the boat. The barnacles on the ship's hull have torn him to shreds, and Plugg grins cheerfully.
"Well, I'm starved. Let's see what Fishguts has for us today," Plugg says, and cuts the corpse free of the ropes. He pushes it over the side with his foot, and then heads down to eat, leaving Scourge on deck to keep an eye on things.
Scourge makes sure each of you gets a bowl of whatever tasty treat Fen prepared, and a half pint of rum. "Drink up," he snarls. "You've earned it."
You notice the other pirates chug their rum down quickly and conspicuously. The rum will make you fatigued (-2 to STR and DEX) and gain +1d4 ⇒ 3 CHA for 1d8 ⇒ 6 hours. You will also take 1d2 ⇒ 2 CON damage. Should this not appeal to you, a DC 10 Stealth check will allow you to dump the rum unseen.
Lorelei |
Perception check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Lorelei looks away as the pirate's body is hauled back aboard the ship, not wanting to see the mangled sight lest she embarrass herself by losing whatever is left in her stomach. Poor fellow, such a fate is quite harsh for a little thievery.
Lorelei later accepts the offered food and rum, by now quite hungry since she hadn't eaten all day. She drinks down all her rum wanting to gorget about the unpleasantness of the day.
If no one stops her after the meager meal, Lorelei begins to sing. It is her usual action to keep her mind occupied on more pleasant things. Though her topic may seem a bit strange as she picks a song about an ill-fated love story.
Entertain as her night time action.
Perform check 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 1 = 28
And how long does the Con damage last?
Odiseo Haddad |
Perception check: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11
Odiseo sniffs at the rum.
We recommend against consuming the intoxicant.
"You also recommended I leave home, and look where that's gotten me," he grumbles under his breath. He tries chugging the liquor as quickly as the others and its potency makes him cough.
Havok Fingerburst |
Perception Check 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Havok takes the rum ration and looks at it. He gives it a big sniff and smiles slightly. His mind begins to process the smell, Ethanol alcohol, intoxicant, but can also be used in an oxidation process..
Havok decides that he will not drink the rum ration, but will keep it. He pours it into his pocket, which he made waterproof many years ago. He would need to find his flasks before the day is out to store it properly
Stealth to Pour out ration 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
Sleight of Hand to pour it into his coat pocket 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
He walks over and hands back his glass. He grabs the supper meal and sits down beside where Ornotck is sitting and devours his meal.
He speaks to Ornotck in Orcish, making sure that Cutthroat can not overhear
Ragnar Stolen-Voice |
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Ragnar watches the proceedings with a strange sense of fascination- Plugg, the keelhauling and the aftermath... His face is blank, neither horrified nor pleased.
It's my fate to live with casual brutality, at the mercy of sick bastards. Might as well look it in the eye. he thinks to himself.
At dinner, he looks doubtfully at the rum after downing his food.
No saving throw vs. the rum?
Fen Tova |
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
heal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Fen enjoys her meal and drinks down her rum with vigor. This stuff is fun - it makes me feel....strange....
After her meal she returns to the deck and leans on the rail, looking out on the open sea to watch the sunset. Her mind is conflicted between the beauty she sees, the funny large man she spent the day cooking with, and the cruelty she saw of the poor man who was drowned.

Havok Fingerburst |
Havok finishes up with his meal and whispers back to Ornotck
Havok waits until the evening festivities before sneaking away to go back to the quartermaster shop. He uses all his inborn goblin abilities to stealth as best as he can.
Stealth Check to get to Quartermaster's Unseen 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31
Getting to the Quartermaster's shop, he makes sure the coast is clear and tries the door.
Perception to see if anyone is around 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
DM Nerk |
@ Lorelei: Con damage heals as per ordinary. 1 pt per 8 hour's rest.I'm calling that if you take extra night actions and fail the check to avoid fatigue, you do not get your point back. Otherwise, you do.
@ Ragnar: No save. You drink it, it works, just like a potion.
@ Ornotck: Stealth hates you. Maybe try taking off the peg leg and hopping?
DM Nerk |
@ Lorelei (but for everyone) Just posted a link to a map in the discussion thread. ALL the non-officers bunk down in the ship's hold (A10) the lowest deck except the bilge.
Lorelei |
Co-ed I see.
Lorelei give Ragnar a look of sympathy at Scourges pronouncement.
Not planning any escapades on her first night here, Lorelei tries to pick out a bunk/hammock near those that have already been chosen by her fellow shanghai-ees or at least near empty bunks or the hull. Understandably a bit nervous about bedding down amongst an unknown crew and hoping to not have her throat slit in her sleep.
Havok Fingerburst |
Havok sniffles his glee when he finds the door unlocked. He silently walks into the Quartermaster's store and looks about the room. He looks at the chests, the lockers and the trunks. Havok spends a second thinking which one he wants to try before getting out.
Chests and trunks will have treasure! Havok like treasure! But lockers would have gear! Havok look at lockers!
Guessing I can only open one per night?
Odiseo Haddad |
Odiseo stifles a yawn; the combination of manual labor and alcohol has left him with heavy eyelids and a fuzzy head. Rather fall asleep where he's sitting and make a (bigger) fool of himself, Odiseo half-stumbles below decks to find a hammock and turn in for the night.
Odiseo goes to bed early
