Raina wants to scream loudly but due to her experience and training, she holds it in to not attract more. Her emotions speak for themselves, she is not amused with the new arrivals. Anyone paying attention, she was bitten but the poison seems to not have affected her, yet.

Raina looks at Del after his "bug" comment and has the look of "really?!" on her face, then replies "Then Del, stop letting it bug you so we stop being attacked by giant bugs." Raina, gets ready to attack her assailing spider but it beats her to the attack. "EEEEWWW!"

Raina dodges her spider's attack, then grips her bastard sword with two hands, she swings at her spider trying to slice it in half.

She hits the spider with all of her might, and kills it with one mighty blow.

Delkaneth feels his limbs weaken as the spider's venom starts to grab hold. No more quips this time, doing his best to shake it off as best he can, he unleashes another two blows at the spider. He manages to catch a glancing blow with one of his axes but the other fails to cut through the creature's carapace.

"Diabolus enim hypocritæ adultery!" Slipping back into the habits of his youth in Westcrown the wounded Delkaneth begins swearing in the tiefling tongue. Doing his best to channel that anger into effective strikes he swings both axes yet again trying to change his luck with little success.

"These spiders are getting ridiculous, I think all of the world's spiders are down here! ... UGH! ..."

She attacks her spider with as much force as she can muster ...

Talon goes and rips into whatever vermin are left standing. "Less talking, more stabbing!" He barks to the others.

mutters: stupid post monster...Ok, let's try this again.

Talon's blows finish one of the remaining spiders, and the last one, a spark of survival instinct kicking in, flees into the southern cell block.

You can pursue if you wish. Or not.

Either way: continuing westward leads to a corner landing/guard room with stairs leading south and down. In this modestly sized room, a heavy stone door blocks passage to the west, and an eastern corridor exits between cells blocked by doors of rusty iron bars. Scattered about the room are a number of instruments of torture from bygone days, now mostly gone to rot and ruin.

This room, too has an occupant; not a spider, or any sort of insect, but instead you see a deformed, vaguely human-shaped monster trapped in the southern cell. When it sees you it leaps up, flying into a furious frenzy—throwing itself against the cell’s bars in a futile attempt to escape.

Delkaneth cautiously descends the staircase and catches sight of the creature as it bursts into action. The treasure hunter peers at it through the bars trying to figure out exactly what it is.

Knowledge to identify: 1d20 ⇒ 6 that's a 8 Local, 13 Dungeoneering or Arcana, 12 Planes and Religion

"If it keeps up that racket it's going to bring every creature in the place down on our heads!"

Move 5-10' along that cell's north wall, just enough to be out of the thing's sight behind the wall, and keep watch for any nasties approaching from that way. He will not move further than the eastern edge of the 2 cells.....just watching for the moment.

Del, you have heard of these creatures; they're called sinspawn. They were/are corrupted products of magic used by spellcasters in a past era as shock troops for their armies.

You also do not hear sounds of anyone -or anything- approaching down the passageway.

Talon looks at the creature, glad that it's imprisoned - he's a little worried about what could have imprisoned it, but so long as it was in there it couldn't hurt them.

"Raina, Del, let's take a brief look around here for anything useful and then push on. But if you have a way to ensure that door won't unlock anything soon, that would be great."

He does take a glance inside of the creature's cell just to determine if there was anything of value inside with it. Hopefully not.

Before descending the staircase where the creature is, Raina whispers, "Since we are only injured a little, we don't know when we can rest, and I have no cure for poison at this time, I will save my heals just in case we need them more later than now."

Raina looks at Talon and shrugs, "I apologize sir, barring door magic is a 2nd Order spell and I am currently at the 1st Order. Magi do not progress in the Arcane Arts as fast as Wizards because we learn how to mix arcane and martial arts together. Additionally, I currently do not have any engineering skills to propose a more mundane approach."

Hearing Raina's comment, Delkaneth makes his way over to the cell door, reaching into his belt pouch and pulling out a set of lockpicking tools they had picked up from the Tower Girls.

He squats down in front of the lock and starts working as if to open it. After but a second he turns his head away from the door to face the magi before giving a sharp twist of his wrist. The motion causes a snapping noise. Still not breaking eye contact with Raina he holds the tool up for her to see, showing her that the pick has broken off in the lock.

"Sometimes engineering is more art than skill." With a wink at the elf Delkaneth tosses the broken tool to the floor and walks across the room to check out the other cell.

Talon after a quick check of the cells you realize that the doors to both have long ago rusted shut. DC 22 str to break and are unlikely to be opened easily.

Satisfied that this creature was of no immediate threat to them now, Talon motions onward. "Let's keep going, then. But I want you two to tell me if you're getting tired. In the worst case, we'll have to find an empty room to secure and rest for a few hours."

Moving cautiously eastward, you come to a circular room [B42] that appears empty save for a ten-foot-wide circular pool filled with clear water. The water appears to be only six inches deep and is crystal clear, leaving the tiled decoration of a swirling vortex plainly visible on the pool’s basin.

The only exits to this room are the passage you entered from the west and a narrower one leading south.

Delkaneth takes only a glance at the pool before pointedly keeping his eyes averted. "Looks way too nice normal. I read an old journal once, the explorer found a pool that hypnotized anyone that looked into it........"

"OK, he was writing it in a hospital for the incurably insane, but that doesn't make it a bad safety tip......"

The treasure hunter smiles at himself, wondering if the constant exposure to spider venom is starting to make him a little paranoid.

Cast Detect Magic then look toward but not into the pool. if no aura is detected then, look up above the pool. If still nothing start moving closer to the pool to look inside.

While the spider venom is no longer actively affecting Raina, the after effects of the venom looks to be exhausting Raina and she is not moving as fast as before.

Delkaneth curses under his breath in Infernal. "Pool is definitely enchanted. Not the type of magic that might hypnotize but could open a pit or attract things to it. Certainly interesting."

His curiosity starts to get the better of him and he approaches the edge of the pool. Fighting the urge to look into the vortex, he pulls a copper out of his pouch and flips it into the center of the pool.

well, we all know what curiosity did to the cat...........

The coin settles to the bottom of the pool. Nothing else happens to it - or because of it.

Further consideration of the aura reveals 2 weak auras, one very slightly stronger than the other, both conjuration.

There are two effects from the water in this pool: A cure light wounds and a lesser restoration.

Raina nods and stands next to Del to peer at the pool of water like he did making sure not to trigger anything by doing something he did not do. She studies the auras by casting detect magic...

"The pool of water is a healing pool, no other auras detected. It appears that it will cure and restore us. However, I am still wary of this pool because detecting and studying magical auras will not tell me if the water is poisoned or not. But nothing to fear ..."

She holds out her hand with the Holy Symbol of Sarenrae tattooed on her left hand and says a prayer, "Most Holy Sarenrae, please reveal this water's hidden content."

She casts detect poison on the water and reports the results.

@Raina: you also suspect that the pool can only be used 1/day per person and that the water can be carried away from it but the effects will fade if you do (last 8 hrs if removed and bottled).

As far as you can tell, the water is safe...possibly the only safe item in this crazy place.

Talon ponders the pool, and lets the more magically inclined figure out what it actually does. "If this is true, then I think we ought to use it. We can make this our camping point, actually. We really should rest up - we've have nothing but fights since we got her, excluding that nutty mite leader. I for one could use a break."

Eight hours to sleep and replenish any spells or other dailies?

Raina looks up at Talon and Del, "The pool is clear of any poison and Sarenrae has revealed to me that the Pool of Restorative Healing Water can be used once a day per person. In addition, we can fill our canteens up with it for later use but it only lasts for 8 hours before losing its properties." Then Raina nods at Talon's rest suggestion, "I agree, and I will heal any health that the pool does not heal before resting myself."

Delkaneth looks warily at each of the rooms two exits before nodding. "I like the idea too. I just wonder how many other nasties that live down here know about this pool and use it?" He looks down at the ground then back at Talon. "Any signs that this is a high traffic place?"

Not even waiting for the ranger's reply, Delkaneth goes over to the pool and fills his waterskin with just enough for a quick drink. Raising the skin in a mock toast, he drinks the restorative waters......

Raina looks to Talon, "Talon, sir! Please come and drink from the Pool as well?" Raina waits for Talon to drink and then she takes a drink. She closes her eyes as the cool liquid spreads throughout her body restoring and healing as it spreads.

He didn't have any fancy magic tricks to replenish after all, unlike his companions. Once they were rested, he'd take some of the pool water with them before they left.

She yawns and looks heavy eyed, "I do need rest and unless Del wants it, I will take last watch." Before going to sleep, since they will be replenished, she uses a channel to make sure everyone is at or near max health.

The area stays safe all during your rest period. When you wake, you follow the only other passage out and find it leads to that same web-choked area you saw when you first arrived on this floor. Thankfully, the spiders you slew seem to have been this area's only inhabitants.

None of the side rooms hold any treasure; it seems no one has been here for years. The spiders appear to have been living on other bugs.

The short corridor leading off of this large room has a wide junction and a passage leading south and one leading west.

Where to now?

Somewhat surprised by the uneventful rest deep in the bowels of the dungeon, Delkaneth prepares himself for another day of crawling through web-choked hallways. He nods at the wisdom of Raina's advice and fills a skin with the enchanted water.

"Ready as I'll ever be. Which way shall we start?"

Talon feels rather well rested after staying by the pool. They'd need to remember the way they got here in order to maximize their chances of survival. As it was, he didn't know how much further it would be to get to the shard at this point.

The fighter took a look at their path, and seeing the indecision in his companions, he chooses the western path, pointing down it. "Let's try this way first. Hopefully we won't run into anything that wants to kill us."

As you move away from the southern passage you see some movement, but as you're not entering their territory [b43] the centipede swarm does not follow you.

Heading west, you come into a damp, natural grotto, its stone ceiling rising forty feet above. Fat columns of brick support the northern end of the room, and the floor of the southern end has been carved into a low dais upon which stands the moldslick statue of a beautiful woman wielding a ranseur.

To the rear of the dias, a piece of carving hangs askew, revealing a dark passage.

As you approach the center of the room, a thin, sticky filament lashes down from the ceiling.

Del=1, Raina=2, Talon=3

Filament vs 1d3 ⇒ 3 Talon for a touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

If it hits, the sticky strand attaches and something starts to pull.

Delkaneth is relieved as the group turns west: he is quite tired of fighting bugs and would much rather explore the strange wonders of this place. His eyes go wide as they enter the grotto. Finally, signs of the historical nature of the place instead of plain hallways that could have been anywhere in Golarian!

He looks to the statue, looking for clues to confirm his assumption that it is Alaznist. Runelord of Wrath.....we must be getting close.....
Know History: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

So caught up in the history of the place the explorer is startled by the attack from above. Lucky it wasn't aimed at me - it totally would have had me! "Greeeeeaaaat, more bugs!"

with the ceiling that high the beast MIGHT be in throwing range...if it is, Del will throw an axe at it. If its too far, then move action to draw his shortbow and standard action to shoot. Either way, a use of luck.
