During the year 2180, the two superpowers became corrupt. Russia and the USA revived their old rivalries, and began waging war. The corrupt members of the government wanted land, money, and resources .They started annexing land, and hiring mercenary companies. Nuclear warfare was used, and entire countries decimated. Only five countries managed to stay neutral, these five being Australia, Denmark, Switzerland, Papua New Guinea, and the Isle of Man, which split from Britain because they wished not to run the risk of destruction. These five countries attempted to rebuild and form trading alliances. Soon, a world economy was created. The main resource, instead of oil, was the newly discovered arcane energy, found in deep wells under the ground. Within 100 years, computers were "re-invented", and the internet was revived. However, with prosperity comes corruption and crime. A group of underground hackers formed, and managed to take down a large portion of the internet, which by now was a large source of information. They formed a network of spies, and hired mercenaries. They named themselves the "Harbingers of Malek", after a cruel tyrant who took over the Middle East during the War of 2180. The "Harbringers of Malek" took over wells of arcane energy, and waged war upon the governments of the world.
The gods were angry at mankind. Angry at how they waged war, angry at how they destroyed the Earth, which was a precious gift from the gods, and angry at how they used the Arcane Energy, a symbol of hope, to fuel their cruel desires. They left mankind to their conflict, and went in search of a world that deserved their attention.
New gods came. They looked upon the world and saw lots of grief and destruction, but they also saw hope. By then, human kind had exterminated itself. And so, the gods created new races. Orcs, elves, dwarves, and all manners of fantasy creatures came about. The gods made the world habitable, filled with lush rain forests and snow-topped peaks.
