Archon does a solid blow against the creature and...

Reflex save, Archon: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

...his spear gets stuck.

Oloch calls for the mimic's surrender, then strikes a fierce blow of his own that staggers the mimic, and manages to pull his great sword free.

The mimic, tottering on its tentacles, screams, "I surrender! I surrender! Never wanted to eat Crowe anyway!"

"Even if he's all buttery and stuff..." The creature is panting and oozing large quantities of whatever passes for its blood. Voluntarily dissolving his adhesive, it releases Crowe, Crowe's earthbreaker, and Archon's spear.

"Sheesh, you guys are tough!"

Combat over. What do you do with your prisoner?

The mimic appears startled by Jan's question. "Um, I never thought about a name. Although 'Mimic' is okay, maybe you can call me 'Maurice'? I was in a museum once, and they had some great sculptures by some guy named Maurice. I spent hours learning to imitate them, and learned lots about great design..." He breaks off. "You probably don't care, but I put a lot of thought into my disguises. Not every mimic could have pulled off a detailed sarcophagus like that, and matched up the decor and design elements. So, what do I call you? Goldy?"

He waves a tentacle, and says, "As to how I got here, it was the same as you. I came through the front door, traveled flat along the ceiling and then had fun setting off that rolling pyramid thing. I'd pop out a limb or two, then pull back and watch it roll back and forth for a while. I did that for a few days, and then I oozed over the top of that trapped door and then I found this set of rooms. Oh man, did you see them? Those pink marble palm trees? The decor? The hieroglyphs? They're just... so aesthetically pleasing! I thought it would be a perfect place to set up shop, hibernate, and wait for lu... tomb raiders."

As if suddenly realizing how this might be perceived, Maurice the mimic pauses. "Hey! Don't judge me! A mimic's got to eat, right? And no, you guys are the first ones through that door that I've seen. Do you think others might be coming?" Wounded though he is, he sounds a little eager at the prospect.

When Quinn asks to examine the mimic, Maurice turns to him. "Yeah, sure. Just keep the buttery bloodrager from me, alright? I might forget, and lick him or something... Grease spell is soooo tasty. Ow, don't poke me where it smarts!" Popping out an eyeball on an eyestalk, he eyes Quinn in return. "Hey! You were the one who could read the hieroglyphs? Right? Can you teach me a few? I figure I won't get my designs perfected until I master more of the small details."

Quinn's examination reveals that the mimic's body is hard and has a rough texture, and seems able to reshape itself at a moment's notice. He has no treasure of his own to speak of.

Do you keep exploring this set of rooms? Where do you go?

"There are statues and pictures of that guy everywhere in this tomb. I think he might have been the bigwig that built the place. Anyway, here's the false door. Cool, right?" The false door is engraved with Ancient Osiriani hieroglyphs listing the pharaoh's names and titles as well as instructions and prayers for the offerings made to him. However, there's also something a little non-standard about some of the writing here. Something you can't quite put your finger on.

The false door symbolized a threshold between the lands of the living and the dead.

Read Magic or Spellcraft DC 23:
One of the prayers engraved on the false door is a remove curse spell. The granite slab of the door cannot be easily removed from the chamber (it weighs upward of 500 pounds), but it can be used as a scroll of remove curse within this room.

Maurice considers Archon's question, scratching himself with an errant tentacle. "I don't think I've been here that long. I kinda lose track of time when I hibernate. Perception, Wadi: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

...and don't see any. You push on ahead. Lit by Wadi's wayfinder, you travel down the dark hallway, where you see occasional murals of chariot races that scroll all the way down the hall. The hall opens up into a grand chamber [13].

Two ornate wooden chariots sit upon platforms in this chamber, positioned as if ready to charge across the desert sands outside, though no mounts are harnessed to their yokes. The chamber's walls are carved in relief with scenes of charioteering, racing, and war.

Knowledge History, DC 20:
The chariots were placed here for the use of the pharaoh in the afterlife. The skeletal creatures are his bodyguards.

The presence of these guards indicate that Sekh-pa-Mefer's burial chamber is likely nearby.

As Jan and Crowe step in the chamber, arrows are shot from the silent archers who were waiting in the dark over 60 feet into the room, and saw your pool of light coming their way.

There's a whole bunch of misses from these absolutely pathetic archers, but one manages a lucky hit on Jan for two points of damage.

When you can finally see them, you realize that six skeletal archers guard the passageway to the next chamber. Two stand in the western chariot while the other four take up positions at the west end of the room, firing on any intruders.

Knowledge Religion, DC 13:
They're skeleton archers, with undead traits.

Knowledge Religion, DC 18:
They have damage resistance, but bludgeoning weapons do full damage.

Who goes first?:

Init, Archon: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

Init, Skellies on Floor: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Init, Skellies on Chariots: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

The four skellies on the floor go first! They celebrate by shooting at Crowe and Jan again!

Short Bow v. Jan: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 Miss.
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Crowe takes two hits for 8 damage total, but the other two arrows just zing past Jan.

The sounds of twanging bowstrings followed immediately by the startled yells of both Crowe and Jan tells Wadi trouble is ahead. Making sure to hold up his Wayfinder so the others have a better view he chants a defensive spell.

"Is that all you see guys?"

Cast Shield on himself; AC is now 15. Duration 40 rounds.

Under the flurry of arrows coming his way Jan doesn't seem to remember anything special about skeletons, so he double moves up towards the archers trying to make himself a better target.

Archon moves forward just enough to actually see the skeletons...

Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

...but does not recognize anything special about them. He casts Bless, including Jan and the rest of the team in his blessing.

How fast do you move, Crowe? Those are 10x10 foot squares.

Also... Crow and Quinn, as far as I can tell, the area near the skeletons is not lit. I think the only one who can see them now is Archon, because Wadi's light only goes 30 feet. Wadi is, as far as I can tell, your only light source.

Crowe: I'll let you double move in the dark, and I'll let you hang on to the attack and damage rolls if you like!

Quinn: I'll let you hang on to that knowledge roll, but you haven't spoken yet because you have not seen them!

I charged. So 30 ft. x2 = 60 ft. But you're right about light sources, Crowe has no vision, thus hits in the dark.

Crowe misses his blow.

And we're back to the skellies on the floor!

The skeleton Crowe attacked fires at him.

Zing! He misses!

I don't remember if this will provide a blind opponent with an attack of opportunity. If it does, you're welcome to take it.
