Polux makes a run for it, his heavy footsteps echoing all the way around the areas they have just explored - "I want to see where you will go next" - he grumbles.

I think if I take off running around D3 and D5, into D1, I can reach it in one round (running 120'), and even though I cannot attack him, I can stand close enough to threaten him, correct Samy?

Ra-Khefer and Polux move, Turel ineffectively hits the spectral hand, and Aleris fires an arrow, hitting and damaging the aghash (34hp damage to it so far). Then the aghash casts again and the spectral hand tries to make a touch attack against Harmose.

Reversing course he yelled again as he rumbled forward in a double move to make contact with the creature, swinging his flail around to build up momentum as he moved.

All I've ever had to offer the world was my magic and some paltry charm. And now... both are going away. What use am I now?

And then a rabbit head butts his ankle.

He's not sure if the voice is Wenet's or merely his own consciousness, but he does know that he needs to act. Aghash may have defanged his rainbows, and made him ordinary, but dammit, he's not going to let the monster win. Sure, the Aghash is immune to acid. But its spectral hand is not. Time to get rid of the thing?

As Aleris watches her betrothed somehow lessen as the spectral hand hits him, Kito's words ring loud and clear over the din of battle.

...hates beauty...

Her eyes flash.

In a single motion she jumps down to the floor and advances towards the agash, bow raised. "There's no room in this world for ugliness and that's all that you carry with you. You don't belong here!" she cries in challenge to the creature as she fires.

Attack (MW Longbow; Bless, Cold Iron, Judgement, PB Shot, Precise Shot): 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 = 3

Aleris moves next to Deseri, declares Judgement (Destruction) as a swift action, then fires. And wow, what a mediocre set of rolls for an otherwise cool moment.

Harmose sinks to the ground, and picks up Wenet, taking comfort in her warm fur. "Turel... Do you think Bel Themm knows anyone who can reverse this?"

He holds his chin up high. He is Harmose al-Khefer, who came back once from a state far worse than this. But oh... this hurts. He can feel his stripped power like an open wound.

Turel lowers his arms and slowly approaches his brother, a feeling of failure threatening to overwhelm him here.

I...I was not fast enough. I have let you down, my brother.

He moves next to Harmose and embraces him, softly replying "I am sure the damage may be undone, my brother. Have faith. While I can see your..." here Turel pauses as he searches for the right word, "Ba has been reduced, remember it is but a small part of who you are. Aleris did not fall in love with just that part of you...she loves ALL the parts of you."

He releases the man who he has come to love as a brother before turning his attention to the main cathedral area. "'Ware yourselves. We know the Hand lurks near...and we were not quiet during our battle."

Tears well up in Deseri's golden eyes as she watches Harmose seem to crumple in on himself. Quickly letting him go and taking a few shaky steps backwards puts her back to the corner Mumbling, I'm sorry... But I was right there... I should have moved in front of him earlier. I failed, I always fail.. I'm sorry.

A few tears roll down and she quickly wipes them away when Turel embraces him brother. Nodding at Turels mention of the Hand, even though he is not looking her way, but keeping silent and waiting for the others to be ready to go.

Qari holds back. Something about Harmose was different after that hand touched him. She'd never seen such things that could take the best part of a person before and wipe it away completely. It chilled her soul. "Yes, Turel is right. We are going to be facing all kinds of new threats. We need to stay wary."

"I'm sorry Harmose. Perhaps I should have mentioned that kind of div's obsession earlier, or tried to curse it with bad luck. If the church has no one to remove this curse, perhaps we could try some other people. I expect it will be expensive, but with the items the group has found we should be able to afford it." I hope we can...no need to worry him at the moment but the spells to remove this condition are rather powerful and not guaranteed to work.

Turning, she looks around the area.

"There is one obvious place to explore. We are rather rushing through, we will need to make a second pass after this."

"That's right," Aleris replies softly as she moves to Harmose and offers her hand. "If you can come back from beyond the veil then this won't be anything but a tiny setback," she smiles as she helps pull him to his feet. It pained her greatly to see Harmose in such a state, but she knew she and the others needed to be strong for his sake.

His voice doesn't project like it did, his eyes don't sparkle like they did...it's like the curse took away part of his essence. Oh Harmose, I'm so sorry...

She quickly turns her gaze towards the double doors on the opposite side of the room, blinking rapidly. "And the sooner we finish here, the sooner we can pay the Pharasmins a visit. Let's see what's through those doors before we head north."

With nobody posting to the contrary, I'm going to assume that you follow Aleris' words and proceed through the double doors to the west. I have moved you on the map, adjusting the marching order to account for Polux's larger size.

Within each cubicle, a bed frame and footlocker are bolted to the floor. The curtains, bed frames, and footlockers are all dusty but in good repair. The bedding, however, has rotted away and served as nests for mice and insects over the years.

It seems like something has kept some objects in good condition over time, but not other objects.

DC 20:
The objects that remain in good condition are all somehow in structural contact with the building, while those that have fallen into disrepair are loose objects.

Aleris' Detect Magic doesn't bring up anything. Ra-Khefer's Engineering doesn't reveal anything new either. To Kito, the furnishings do look of contemporary design to the Time of Madness. You can either go back to the large main hall (D2), go down the hallway south (to D6) or open the double doors leading north.

Polux's examination of the double doors to the north: The doors are inscribed with Ancient Osiriani text and they are locked. Polux notices scratch marks around the lock indicating that it has recently been picked, but it is nonetheless still locked.
