Yazi |
(The channel for 6 hp was way back. I think Paige was too far away, though...)
Oh, then Yazi is 33/69 then.
(Yes, Yazi, I remembered the -1.)
Yay!
Hajar nar Jundi |
The 6HP channel did not occur, I wasn't aware we were still in combat. I'll use it now. I'll edit HP accordingly
Hajar raises his holy symbol with his left hand and channels the power of his goddess. Channel: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6
Paige Nightsong |
Paige breaths deep as she soaks in the healing channel's energy. The Paladin is getting stronger! she thinks to herself...as her lightening strikes the monster again upon her command. 3d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 3) = 13 DC17 ref for half. the spell says duration 1 min/level. Is that MY level? Or the spell's level?
GM_Pace |
(Your level, Paige, which makes the call lightning (Druid 3) spell one of your more powerful spells, at least until something with Resistance or Immunity to electricity comes along.)
(Bartan before Monster?)
Bartan Harrowborn |
Bartan moves up to just within range of a card throw, casts a spell, and tosses a card at the evil giant gnolly-gnoll.
harrow card: 1d24 ⇒ 2 => The Keep (Neutral Good, Strength)
Does not match.
card toss: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 18
damage: 1d4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 = 7 plus shocking grasp: 5d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 1, 5) = 21 plus frosty: 1d6 ⇒ 4
With his large size and the fact that he hasn't gone yet, that might hit.
GM_Pace |
Hajar heals, Khayal suspiciously waits, and Bartan throws yet another playing card - which bounces off the large gnoll's breastplate without incident. The gnoll looks down at his armor as if to say "Was that supposed to do something?"
The gnoll roars, his arms outstretched, greataxe held upright in one hand, and the hairs on his arms and shoulders stand up, the beast-man's eyes turning red. He stepped forward, Paige's lightning bolt giving him pause.
Reflex save DC 17: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
But the gnoll laughs, and speaks in Common, "You'll have to do better than that, puny humans!"
(Khayal, Yazi)
Yazi |
Yazi no can charge :(
Throwing up her bead wrapped hand a hot and inciting force floods forth from it, pleasant warmth and dire aggression intermingling and flowing into her allies' being. "Sekhmet commands it!"
Cast Bless: fills your allies with courage. Each ally gains a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects (All allies in 50ft so that gets everbody and lasts for one minute).
Resolve: 2/3
Rage: 8/16
Bless: 10/10
Hp: 33/69
Khayal Bin Haleen |
Khayal springs to action, closing the distance5foot step he flies into a whirl of blades.
Kukri: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 1 = 171d4 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Kukri: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 11 + 1 = 181d4 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Kukri: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 1 = 131d4 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Kukri: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 1 = 131d4 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
His blades do nothing as they clang of the beast's armor.
Hajar nar Jundi |
Hajar says The Fires of Heaven take your eyes worshiper of the Rough Beast! Smite Evil and he moves forward to attack with Tempest
Smiting Tempest: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13 miss.
+3 to hit/damage and AC vs the big guy
Yazi |
HA! Monsters don't get to go at all!
Following after the Haleen siblings Yazi charges the arrogant love-making rug Gnoll.
Die Fluffy Die: 1d20 + 6 + 5 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 5 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 26
Damage: 2d6 + 7 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (6, 3) + 7 + 6 + 2 = 24
Resolve: 2/3
Rage: 7/16
Bless: 9/10
Hp: 33/69
Paige Nightsong |
3d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 1) = 8DC7. Another bolt sends cascading blue light throughout the room. Paige puts her hand to her temple, trying to get the mental image Yazi put there out of her head...fake concentration check 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Khayal Bin Haleen |
Kukri: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 11 + 1 = 201d4 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Kukri: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 11 + 1 = 251d4 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Kukri: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 1 = 271d4 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
confirm: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 1 = 131d4 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Khayal continues his attack. This time landing a couple blows.
Bartan Harrowborn |
Bartan moves to have fewer allies in his way, then pulls another card and casts snowball, throwing the card.
harrow card: 1d23 ⇒ 4 => The Cyclone (Chaotic Evil, Strength)
Matches on one axis, 19-20 crit
card toss: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 30
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 plus snowball: 5d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 2, 1) = 8 plus frosty: 1d6 ⇒ 6
DC 13 Fort save or staggered 1 round
OMG CRIT CHANCE!
CRIT: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 13
DAMN! I need to start taking feats that boost my crit rolls.
GM_Pace |
Yazi hits, as does Bartan.
Fort save DC 13 vs. staggered: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28
Reflex save DC 17: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Paige's lightning bolt hit the beast-man as well. Khayal hit better with his double blades, scoring multiple hits. Hajar missed, but his words made the over-sized gnoll take note.
"Oho! A Day-Lily in the House of the Beast! Go back home, Day-Lily - the desert will wilt your kind here! Goreshed will show you! Grraaa!"
Magicked greataxe with special attack on Hajar: 1d20 + 15 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 15 + 1 = 28 Hajar suffers: 1d8 ⇒ 5 (CHA damage)
The greataxe blade cut through Hajar's shoulder and lower face, the metal sizzling as it scored an ugly black mark across the paladin's features. After hitting Hajar, the gnoll kept going, hitting Yazi next to him!
Greataxe attack on Yazi: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25 Dmg: 2d6 + 16 ⇒ (3, 5) + 16 = 24
"It's so fun to mess up the pretty faces of the world! Hahaha!"
Fort save DC 20: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (18) + 16 = 34
HP: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (1, 4) + 5 = 10
The gigantic gnoll jumped back (5 feet), and tightened his grip on his double-bladed greataxe, flexing his muscles. In response, his many cuts and wounds started to close up, stanching the bleeding.
ROUND TWELVE
Init:
Bartan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Hajar: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Khayal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Paige: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Monsters: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
(Khayal, Hajar, Monsters, Paige, Bartan, Yazi)
Khayal Bin Haleen |
On my phone can someone give foot me back adjacent.
Seeing the nasty wound caused on Hajar's flesh, Khayal finds himself very angry.
The is something wrong with that axe
Kukri: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 11 + 1 = 131d4 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Bartan Harrowborn |
Bartan withdraws another frosty card from his deck, charging it up with a strange spell that he has never cast before. The air around the card seems to coalesce into a ghostly-looking form of a small anchor. He then closes his eyes for a brief moment to calm himself, then opens his eyes and concentrates on the huge gnoll before hurling the card at him.
harrow card: 1d22 ⇒ 10 => The Brass Dwarf (Lawful Neutral, Constitution)
Matches on one axis, 19-20 crit
card toss: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 1 + 1 + 4 = 22
damage: 1d4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 = 6 plus force anchor: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4 plus frosty: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Dangit! On the off chance that it hits him, he will be skewered by a Large-size anchor of force, which sticks out of him on both sides and prevents him from moving through others' squares as easily. Plus it looks silly. LOL
Hajar nar Jundi |
Hajar grunts and returns the attack Tempest: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19 Damage: 2d4 + 14 + 1d6 ⇒ (3, 2) + 14 + (1) = 20
Paige Nightsong |
Paige stomps the floor again. A pouty weak little stomp, but the earth underneath the Gnolls feat respond with a nasty rumbling...
1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 10 + 1 = 29 casting Thunderstomp Hopefully it's enough to drop him??
GM_Pace |
Khayal lands a few blows, and Hajar hit, Tempest going through the gnoll's breastplate. The gnoll laughs, and begins a chanting song.
"I WENT TO KELMARANE,
WHERE ALL THE KIDDIES SHOP!
I TOOK OUT MY GREATAXE,
AND I BEGAN TO CHOP!"
Greataxe attack on Khayal: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29 Dmg: 2d6 + 16 ⇒ (3, 6) + 16 = 25
Greataxe cleave attack on Hajar: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26 Dmg: 2d6 + 16 ⇒ (6, 6) + 16 = 28
"LEFT-RIGHT, LEFT-RIGHT,
LEFT-RIGHT, KILL!"
The last word came out as another roar, visibly moving the air, at the humans. (5-foot step sideways)
(Paige and Bartan, if you fail the Save your attack/spells do no go off.)
(Yazi, then summary of what Paige & Bartan did after their saves.)
Yazi |
Will vs Fear: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 2 + 1 + 4 = 21
Don't forget the +1 from Bless and +4 from Hajar's Aura everyone!
Giving the Gnoll nothing more than a wide grin in response to his roar Yazi steps up and attacks.
Die Fluffy Die: 1d20 + 6 + 5 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 5 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 20

Khayal Bin Haleen |
will: 1d20 + 4 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 4 + 1 = 18
Khayal nearly falls from the blow, but manages to stave off the fear without much issue.
GM_Pace |
Paige stoically buffers through the Carrion King's roar, and makes the ground ripple towards him in response, (CMD=10+7+10-1+1+2+1=30-Cleave(2), I knew there was a catch) and the big gnoll is knocked prone. Bartan's playing card hit the gnoll's back, and a transparent ship's anchor appeared in the beast-man's body with a deep ringing sound.
Before the giant gnoll could get up, Yazi was skewering him with her greatsword.
"Aaah! Puny humans! Don't think that you have won...the Rough Beast will rise again...I have foreseen it...ugggghhh."
And the Carrion King makes one feeble attempt to snap at Yazi's heels and dies with a gurgle.
You hear a booming laugh from the north, beyond the pillars, as well as a beginning wail.
(Out of melee...for now.)
Yazi |
"Yeah, yeah, woof woof to you too cutie," Yazi coughs out before slumping against her sword while it stays impaled in the large gnoll's corpse, her eyes blank and listless.
Stabilization: 1d20 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (4) + 2 - 3 = 3
At -4 now.
Hajar nar Jundi |
Hajar struggles through pain to cast Stabilize on Yazi.
Foul vermin! Your death is a thousand victories for the Dawnflower! and then Hajar looks around to his wounded allies We should be away, soon. We cannot withstand another attack!
GM_Pace |
You find:
- nice rugged breastplate (that you'll have to push Yazi off of to get to)
- double-bladed greataxe with skull motif
- a brilliant-cut black gem on a delicate silver chain
- an ordinary-looking ring with a set of jaws (symbol of Rovagug) holding the tiny citrine gemstone in place
- wooden holy symbol (Rovagug)
- two belt pouches
- GP: 12d10 ⇒ (8, 3, 9, 9, 2, 1, 6, 6, 6, 2, 7, 5) = 64 and SP: 3d4 ⇒ (1, 4, 4) = 9

clw: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
clw: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Do you guys hear that laughing?? She peaks cautiously around the pillars to see what it might be. If she can't see anything, this may be the time to become an opossum and sneak in there?
Yazi |
Thankies... but who got which amount? :3
Groggily coming to after being poked by Paige Yazi sits up, exhausted and worn out, looking around at the carnage they've caused before back down at the gnoll, giving his corpse an affectionate pat. "Mmmm, comfy."
Resting just a moment more on her impromptu bedding she reaches over and picks up the axe, looking it up and down the same way she does her other weapons. And her partners.
Bartan Harrowborn |
Bartan, seeing Yazi cuddling with the corpse of the giant gnoll, thinks to himself perhaps I must rethink my own cuddling with that one...
He then tries to get a good look at where the laughing came from.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Hajar nar Jundi |
Wands are at minimum caster level, which means only 1d8+1 per use
Hajar nar Jundi |
I'll update the HP on the map.
Hajar says I am eager to leave this cursed place. But if you wish to clear the rot from the canker I will follow you.
We need to hole up and rest though...we are very very very weak.
Khayal Bin Haleen |
The question is, is it hydra or snake? We have cut off the head. Let's make sure no other grows in its place. But yes rest for the night may be good.
