Atum grunts, thinking of the sweltering heat of his homeland Osirion.
Atum was trained as a palace guard and will be happy to lead the way at all times, although someone else should be checking for traps from behind him.

"Magic? Blood magic possibry. I did not even know the sun ventured that far north. I assumed it stayed away like any sane person would. It is full of vicious wolves, goblins, giant trolls and someone demon named Baba Yaga. I prefer the open sea where the water is salty and not falling frozen from the sky."

"Lucky for you Atum and I are accustomed to greater heat then we are likely to find here. We will gladly bear the brunt of it for you. And do remind us to tell you of the wonders of Osirian some time, though hot it can be quite beautiful."
Sandy takes up pace behind Atum and begins to keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary

Maddie follows the group into the structure, wrapping herself up tighter in her cloak as Birgit and Han discussed Irrisen, her face thoughtful as if considering something important. Forgive my ignorance or perceived impoliteness, but might I ask, do most of the humans in Irrisen have a bluish tint to their skin? I mean no disrespect, I'm merely curious. She directs the question to Birgit in a quiet voice. Spending my life in Absalom I have yet to see the world as I would like, but I hope to change that.

When the party enters the tower, it is soon apparent that the collapse of the eastern wing has caved in much of tower’s first level as well. The southern wing is entirely filled with rubble, leaving only the northern wing accessible. The charmed fog following Silviana begins to growl and whine. it obviously does not want to go in the tower.

As the party advances further, the charmed dog growls louder and finally turns and runs out the breach. tail between it's legs, and disappears.
Seeing the southern doorway collapsed with rubble, the party moves to the northern doorway. Through the door you see the rooms is dusty and full of cobwebs.

Birgit turns to Maddie, and laughs, uttering the words No, my dear friend, only the lucky ones do. It is the Jadeiga descendants that have a bluish tint, we are te aristocracy of Irrisen. The bluer the tint the more noble you are because of the greater connection to the mother of all witches, Baba Yaga. Unfortunately I will never hold land or title because while my mother is Irrisani, my father was an Ulfen warrior.
Upon seeing the web, that leads up to the giant spider she's gasps and utters one syllable yet again, with the noticeable drop in temperature COH

Birgit's arcane word seems to float on frosting air toward the spider. The spider stops for a moment and it's legs begin to curl under it before it suddenly shakes it off and resumes it's movements. It spins another web and throws it at Atum again. This time the web lands on the fighter and ensnares him. The spider then begins to crawl down the wall to the floor.

Web spinners can create sheets of sticky webbing up to three times their size. They usually position these sheets to snare flying creatures but can also try to trap prey on the ground. Approaching creatures must succeed on a DC 20 Perception check to notice a web; otherwise they stumble into it and become trapped as though by a successful web attack. Attempts to escape or burst the webbing gain a +5 bonus if the trapped creature has something to walk on or grab while pulling free. Each 5-foot-square section of web has a number of hit points equal to the Hit Dice of the creature that created it and DR 5/—.

Sandy strides forward and swinging his axe, strikes the spider mightily. The axe nearly severs a couple of it's legs. Silviana steps to the side for a better view and looses an arrow that strikes home even though the spider is engaged with the half-orc. Atum give a mighty shrug and tears himself free of the web ensnaring him. Silviana'a treant companion shuffles forward and swings it's club-like arm and put the spider out it's misery.

Giving thoughtful consideration of Birgit's story, Maddie reacts slowly as the group runs across the large spider, dispatching it quickly before she has time to react. She shrugs her small shoulders, and quips dryly, It doesn't look like you need me here after all. Although I do hope we'll have enough time to hear all of Han's story.
She then returns to her place in the marching order and remains watchful of her surroundings, crossbow still at the ready, Southwest?

As the party moves through the southwest doorway and enter the western wing of the tower, you find it mostly choked with rubble, but a door in the eastern wall is still accessible. The door leads to a stone spiral staircase that runs through the center of the tower. Unfortunately, the stairway is also blocked with fallen rubble. If the party wishes to explore the tower’s upper levels, it appears, you will have to go back outside and attempt to climb the tower’s exterior walls. The staircase used to lead down to underground tunnels, but this exit collapsed from the aftershocks, sealing the tunnels.

The tower stands 80 feet tall and its exterior walls are amazingly smooth. They are superior masonry walls. Climbing the ragged remains of the east wing’s walls, Atum easily make his way up to the second level and lowers a rope down, allowing the rest of the party to follow. Looking around, Atum sees that the floor plan continues to be the same, four lobes or wings of the tower with the east side crumbled open. Standing on the second level landing area, he see doors to the northwest and southwest.

Noticing nothing unusual about the door, Atum opens it to reveal the north wing of the tower. Judging from the shelves lining the walls, this darkened room might once have been a storeroom, though its contents have
long since succumbed to the passage of time. A crack in the northern wall has apparently let in some rainwater, which has collected in a large puddle on the floor. Peering into the gloom Atum sees a dog-sized lizard has two horns, one on either side of its head, and green scales that crackle with sparks of lightning. It notices the Garundi and begins to walk toward him.
The lizard is 25' away and walking toward Atum, at the moment Atum is standing in the doorway and everyone else is in the east wing trying to look over his shoulder. Actions?

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I can find nothing in the rules about Handle Animal and wild animals, other than rearing them. I know that H.A. tends to get treated like Diplomacy for animals, but I can't find anything that states that. When I played this, we tried the same H.A. check with the same results. I also checked the old 3.5 rules, but it treats it the same way. Somebody point me in the right direction if I'm mistaken.
