Ehren Ferron |

Regardless of what she gets reincarnated as, I figure her curse would kick in after a while, and she'll waste away again. :(

Valaria Alazario |

Assuming Deskari doesn't strip her of her powers for failing him. Actually, can a god withdraw the powers of an oracle?

Assuming Deskari doesn't strip her of her powers for failing him. Actually, can a god withdraw the powers of an oracle?
I'd say it's within the scope of a wish or miracle so I would say so. The question is would deskari find it worth the trouble ;)

Hinagiku |

Oracle of deskari working against deskari, sounds good! Perfect for the inquisition too!

On one hand, she's just a low ranking priestess of his, so I doubt he even acknowledges her existence that often.
On the other hand, she was just in charge of ensuring that the closest person Deskari has to a champion on the Material Plane could succeed in her plan to essentially win the war against Mendev once and for all. And she f*cked up. So he might be pissed enough to actually punish her for that.

Nice solution to the problem Markus, I was seriously expecting Annabelle to start roaming the place a night and drink from drunken people or something worst than that.

Markus Coffinborn |

How old are some of these people? How old is Liotr?
I'm guessing Anevia and Irabeth are something like 30 years old, and Aravashnial is around...180. But what about Annabelle? Or Jeslyn?

If you'd used wine as a base and added some fruit instead, you'd have given new definition to the name sangria :p
Also, this is the kind of road-paving good intentions that get used by a villain later on to turn the character to the side of evil. ;)
"You thought you were just drinking and eating normally all this time? He never told you... did he? Exactly when was the last time you prepared your own food and drink, Annabelle?" he asks innocently.
Jeslyn's gotta be older, If she was harassed during the third crusade she'd be whatever she was then, plus another 35 years or so. I'd bet Annabelle falls into the range of most of the young recruits, 18-22 or so.
Edit: Was Liotr significantly younger in the flashback? I can't remember. If not then perhaps it happened more recently between crusades, instead of as part of the witch hunts during the third.

Markus Coffinborn |

I'll tell her eventually!
Just... not right now. Too stressful.
It's interesting because I'm pretty sure that Jeslyn isn't aged in categories in her statblock.

Ary Bishop |

I'm pretty sure she's a young adult, as per:
The magic of the spell creates an entirely new young adult body for the soul to inhabit from the natural elements at hand.

Anevia and Irabeth are around 30, though something like 26-28 is likely more accurate. They've only been crusaders for five years.
Aravashnial is nearing 200.
Annabelle is 19 (she is the same age as Ary).
Liotr is in his late 60s. He looks good for his age, though. He's like Liam Neeson ;D He would have been in his 20s during the witch hunt vision. Prelate Hulrun was much older when he died, around 85~
Jeslyn is also in her 60s, but she's a half-elf.
I expanded Jeslyn's backstory for my own ends, so I don't think she is as old in the AP.
I almost never adjust people's stat blocks for age. ;)
I mostly just really wanted to have a scene about witch hunts, because I'm a big horror buff and I like to try and build horror themes in my campaigns...and witch hunts are really scary to me. Cause those were real! People did that!
Basic timeline:
-1600: The Kellids claim Iz from an ancient kingdom of frost giants, forming the first city of Sarkoris
4433: Battle of the Lake of Mists and Veils
4601: Queen Galfrey is named Queen of Mendev and First Sword Knight of Iomedae
4606: Aroden dies. The Worldwound opens.
4622: The Crusades are launched by the church of Aroden (which eventually collapses into the church of Iomedae)
4630: The first crusade ends with the crusaders successfully halting the demonic expansion
4638: Aponavicius conquers the crusader fortress of Drezen, beginning the Second Crusade
4639: The wardstones are founded.
4644: Sarkoris is lost. The second crusade ends.
4665: Prelate Hulrun Shappok begins the witch hunts of the Third Crusade. These continue for almost two decades.
4692: Khorramzadeh attacks Kenabres and cracks the wardstone but is driven back by Terendelev, starting the Fourth Crusade
4712: Staunton Vhane is exposed by Irabeth Tirablade, who is knighted for her discovery.
4713: The Fifth Crusade begins with Khorramzadeh successfully destroying the Kenabres wardstone on Armasse.

We do have the what, but not the why. :)
What makes a Zealot?

Ehren Ferron |

Hm. An inquisitor would be a neat idea for a replacement should Ehren fall... my only concern with that being the loss of access to high-level divine magic.
Plus I'm pretty sure that'd be stepping on some toes. :P

Valaria Alazario |

Inquisitors actually make excellent hierophants. It would be a shame to lose Ehren though.

Ehren's not going anywhere any time soon, ha ha. And even if he did, reincarnation/raising would be very high on my priority list. I was very tempted to grab Mythic Toughness, but it just didn't fit into my progression. Might bump Constitution next level, though. For that earthy endurance. :P

'Sorry guys... something life or death came up. You know. Geeky Nerdy stuff that you're probably not interested in.'

Markus Coffinborn |

I kinda forgot that I decided to make Markus relatively short.
Occasionally I see his profile and I see that I wrote 5'7" and I laugh at his "tall, dark stranger" vibe. He probably only weighs like 140 pounds.
Also, I did some google-fu! You didn't just make Annabelle up from nothing, I like it.

GM Kiora |

He is pretty short, I noticed. I don't think I've ever referred to him as tall ;)
But moroi-born dhampir are supposed to be really magnetic. Also I like throwing fawning women at him because I think it's funny.
Also, I did some google-fu! You didn't just make Annabelle up from nothing, I like it.
Haha, I'm not sure what you're referring to :) I'm sure I unconsciously ripped her from somewhere though.
She's named Annabelle after "Annabel Lee", the Poe poem, because it's a beautiful poem about a dead woman. It's beautiful but also kind of dark, which is the core idea I had for her.
Her personality was built from trying to make a NPC good vampire cohort plausible XD

Markus Coffinborn |

Oh yeah, I know - I also think it's funny that there's fawning women all over him. At the same time, it makes him super uncomfortable. It's like paparazzi for an introverted celebrity. Flashes and stuff in his face.
As for what I'm referring to, I meant Aron.

Ehren Ferron |

I'm sure Markus and Aron will get along swimmingly. :)

Alright. I have a massive migraine that I have been fighting for about 7 hours now. I'm going to withdraw from the light until such time that I do not feel like clawing my eyes out. See you.

Omg just got in contact with dr busy signal. Patient totally wasn't supposed to be taking 3 antidepressants (because naturally I am always right ;) ) and is lucky he isn't dead (he was supposed to switch from one to the other once in March and again in June!!)
Not just that but he was taking the most serotenergic ssri out there >.<
Doubt anyone cares but I'm feeling awesome right now! Your friendly neighborhood drug shepherd signing out... :D

Ary Bishop |

Pfft.. Kioralady thinks we care about human life...
Good job, Kioralady. :) I enjoy hearing about your righteous numbercrunching warpath.
Also, be careful with signing out, it won't tell you your campaigns updated. ;)
Also.
How does one continue getting scripts you should have stopped taking..? Did they just say 'he can have these indefinitely'? :|

GM Kiora |

I use RSS feeds to track the game so ;)
Well, the doctor told the patient to discontinue taking the old antidepressant and only take the new one(s). But the patient isn't....totally all here so he either misunderstood or forgot. And his old antidepressants were written for a lot of refills so the patient kept going to the pharmacy and picking up refills for the meds he was supposed to stop. Make sense?
His retail pharmacist should have caught the issue back in march... And his doctor should have called his pharmacy to inform them to discontinue the script that still had refills. So lots of people dropped the ball.
But my job is to catch errors so! I'm the last check in the chain.

Ary Bishop |

Neat. It still seems crazy to give access to unlimited refills on an antidepressant. It really seems like something you should be constantly vigilant with, always talking to the patient about, always on top of... not something you just write an endless script for. It just seems so... my mind isn't grabbing the right word. Blase? Truant? Something in that area. Maybe irresponsible.
Either way... it just feels wrong when I hear that. Is it common over there?

GM Kiora |

Well, it's illegal to give unlimited refills on any medication. The exact amount of time a script is valid varies from state to state but in wv you can get up to a years worth of refills on a non controlled substance.
In my area most people are very very poor and cannot afford to go to doctors offices a lot. So doctors are likely to write them a whole years worth of refills and send them off
You're correct in that... Yeah you should monitor antidepressant therapy at least every 3 months per the American psychiatric associations guidelines. But in practice, doing that with the economically disadvantaged results in the patient being unable to afford so many appointments and simply never coming back to pick up new scripts for their antidepressants. So the provider has to choose between a patient possibly receiving suboptimal therapy... Or receiving no therapy at all.
That's just the reality of practice :(

Ary Bishop |

Yeah, that makes total sense. This area is also terribly disadvantaged in the same ways. We have the upper ten percent... then the lower forty, for the most part. It's a real mess. (My local city was in the top ten cities for economic division sometime in the last decade)
One of my friends goes once every six months. I suspect that that is the limit on rx here. His doctor is also really cool in that his fee is only fifty dollars... which is very very below the average.
I can totally understand subpar taking precedence over nothing. I know this isn't in your expertise, but are you aware of any programs specifically for the economically and psychologically disadvantaged?
