"Several yards, I should think, Janos. Though if you wish the distance to be wider, that is fine as well, I suppose." Dantrian turns and sloshes through the water, intending to stride up to the doors he could previously just barely make out. As he moves, he tests the floor before him with several jabs from the butt of his longspear before advancing.

OMG, a trap!
Drosil spots an underwater pit trap just as the boys are reaching the corner.
Disable Device: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (14) + 17 = 31
With a few seconds of work he manages to jam it shut and the pair advance on the double doors. The resident burglar examines them and finds them to be untrapped. A wave spreads back down the hallway to slosh around the others' ankles as Dantrian wrests the door open.

A rotting stench comes from a trio of headless, apelike creatures inside heavy iron cages. The waters lap against these corpses, while the twisted remnants of an iron walkway lie half-submerged in the water. Two doors sit high in the north and east walls, thirty feet above the floor.
The stench of rotting flesh is so strong here that any creature entering the room must make a DC 14 Fortitude save or be sickened for as long as the creature remains in the room.

Dantrian moves into the chamber, still prodding the floor prior to stepping forward, and works his way around the left side. Though the stench is overpowering, he remains wary of the rotting corpses in the center of the room, having seen enough undead back in Ravengro to remain suspicious now.

It's a single save. If you pass you aren't sickened. If you fail you are sickened the entire time you're in the room.
It is not the center of the room from which the threat emerges. Horrible simian screeches and the flapping of wings accompany the appearance of three hideous creatures. Descending from the ceiling are the rotting heads of three white apes. They have bat-like wings where their ears should be, and manes of dirty, greasy tentacles at the back of their heads.

Shivering, but not from the cold B'yelka takes a step back. What manner of man would have these thing in his home? The same that would create life from parts of corpses... Mustering her courage she begins singing. It echoes strangely in this sodden sepulcher.

kicks in, and the his aim is true. The arrow tears into the flying head.
"Whatever they are, I don't want them coming anywhere near us!" Anton shouts, moving forward and taking careful aim, sending a shaft through one of the leathery wings that supports creature Janos shot.
Dantrian snarls as the vargouilles descend from on high, keeping his spear at the ready.
"Careful, Dantrian! I think that one's going to swoop on you!" Anton warns.
Tibideau steps up behind his companions to see what all the commotion is about. "Oh dear! What are those disgusting treasures?" he wonders, giving his chin a thoughtful stroke. "Anton, make them go away," he requests, waving a hand in the paladin's direction. A shower of violet sparkling energy settles around Anton, bending fortune in his favor. Then Tibideau begins to cackle madly.
The vargouilles come diving down, their mouths distending into freakish distortions of apes. The three undead unleash unholy shrieks which pierce the souls of the Six.

B'yelka freezes under the keening wail of the hideous heads.
Dantrian snarls as the vargouille descends to his level, jabbing with his spear as the creature begins to lower itself. Once beside him, he snaps with a bite of his jaws then skirts back toward the door, following up with another thrust from his longspear. The smell, however, is too overpowering for the wolf-like alchemist, and his thrusts and strikes show it, all missing.
Janos freezes in place as the screams penetrate his soul.
Anton watches in slowly dawning horror as the disgusting creatures keen like some weird, alien thing and his friends, one by one, begin to freeze in place. He takes a step forward and fires. The first two arrows, fired simultaneously, rip into the creature closest to Dantrian destroying it. The second flies toward the one he had previously shot and though it appears to be flying wide, it curves at the last moment, killing the second vargouille. The third arrow is a near perfect shot, directly through the last creature' malformed eye. The back of the undead ape's skull explodes as it splashes into the water.
End Combat. Encounter (basically) soloed by Anton. :P

Eventually B'yelka comes free of the horror that gripped her so tightly. "I have nobidea dear Anton. The worst stage fright I have even heard of, to say the least." She shudders and tries to put the bat winged heads out of her mind. Only she finds there seems to be a lock on door leading to the emotional ash pile. This is too much!

"Gods, everything we do is so disgusting. What is wrong with these people? To have a schloss in this state. It's simply shameful. Shameful, I say!" Tibideau whines. He wades slowly into the stench filled room. He wretches a few times at the stench. Barely keeping down his gorge, he points towards the other set of double doors with one hand, while covering his mouth and nose with the other. "That way?" he manages through his fingers.

Aye, if everyone is ready. I have a spell that is somewhat time dependant anyway so I'd rather we make haste. he says, moving up behind Drosil as the rogue pulls open the door.
I assume door-opening SOP is Drosil to check for traps before opening and then we all move in behind.

PS: No 5' stepping in here. DIFFICULT TERRAIN.
Drosil checks the doors for traps, and finds them to be clear and unlocked. With the tanks in position, the Six open the doors to the next chamber. This room seems to be infested with various fungi that cling to every surface. The broken remains of an iron walkway juts from the water, also now infested with fungi. Two doors stand high up on the walls. A strange plant consisting of four spidery stalks, long green tendrils, and an inverted bell-shaped cap filled with spores grows in the room. It begins to move as the doors open. Two giant mushroom grow from a bed of tentacular roots. Deep violet tendrils slither out of the dozens of fissures in their pointed caps as they also spring to life.

The two violet fungi creep slowly forward through the moldy water. They lean their furrowed caps forward, and magenta tentacles shoot out to lash at Janos and Dantrian. Janos gets struck but Dantrian dodges the blow. The tentacle whips across Janos' chest and his flesh rots away under it with alarming speed.
The tentacled plant creature wades its way across the room as well, closing in on Janos and Dantrian.
