Sabinus
Sabinus is also interested to see that Millech is using magic and seeks to identify the spell being cast.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
He'll also ask, trying to be light and funny, "Why do they even bother with costumes and makeup, when you can just take care of it all with magic?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Apparently, it came out indelicately direct.
The rest of the time Sabinus sulks about the silly clothes they are making him wear to look funny. He is far too awkward to try to engage the other actors, although he'll be (awkwardly, but not creepily) friendly to Calseinica if she speaks to him or makes eye contact.
GM Mug
The Viscount would be very interested in Millech's work, and if he's figured out the spells being used he would compliment her casting. If not he'd butter her up with compliments to learn how she does what she does.
Millech is a squat, ugly, male, human hunchbank, and could almost pass for a misshapen dwarf even. The heavyset woman is the head of the seamstress army and not important enough for me to name. I'll just pretend Corneleous's 'shes' were actually 'he's'. Enko, I see two diplo's after I requested one for Calseinica, but the first was blank and the second was for Cal. Who was the first one for?
Corneleous and Sabinus can both tell Millech is using illusion magic, minor image, major image, and invisibility are the ones the recognize. Millech seems embarrassed by the Viscounts interested in his casting and the praise of his skill, "Tweren't nuthing m'lord." He doesn't bother to respond to Sabinus at all.
Later, Calseinica takes the time to work through a few of your lines together, and you immediately notice her natural talent and charm. Just observing her gives you a palpable insight into the art of performing, and you find yourself applying those skills to your own acting efforts. Everyone can notice the difference in your acting and make special mention of it to you. Even Robahl lightens up a bit on you, so impressed is he by the change in you. +4 to ALL skill checks during the main performance.
Lucon
Lucon tries not to make a fuss during the fitting,
Lucon stares horrified into the looking-glass at the illusion-work, as his face is hidden behind a thick layer of scar-tissue. "The magic will... wash out, yes?" he asks Millech, pawing at his face in disbelief. "I cannot imagine what would happen if I returned home like this." he says, with an grimace that distinctly says that yes, he can imagine, and it would not be pretty. "But... thank you. I feared I would never look the part."
Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 15
His costume is the leather cowl of an executioner, his chest bare and revealing long, self-inflicted scars across his back and torso. He shivers somewhat backstage, balking as he is handed the final piece of his ensemble, a cruel, long-handled whip. "Oh no. Oh no, no, no. Is this really... well, necessary?" he says, holding the barbed whip in two pinched fingers and regarding it as one might a diaper or a piece of rotten fruit. "I don't know how to use one of these. I'll put somebodies eye out!"
He will watch Calseinicia practice, the imposing torturer blushing beet-red at some of her racier lines. "Perhaps you could... teach me also... milady?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
(+1 trait bonus to diplomacy with Chelaxian nobles - why do I even have this?)
Edit: Drat.
Ava Wavesdotter
Marina is very talkative throughout the day, all smiles despite her complete humiliation during the day.
"Calseinica!" Marina calls out after the actress. "I was hoping to get to talk to you. It's good to see another young starlet doing so well in the Chelaxian scene! Perhaps we can exchange stories..." If she agrees, Marina will listen intently to the her experiences, absorbing what she can of the woman's style and panache for use in a future persona. She'll also invent her own tales of journeys around the world, from Katapesh and Varisia.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
She'll also take some time to get a little face time in with Robahl. "This is sure to be a splendid show!" she says excitedly. "With your direction, there's no way we could go wrong! In fact, it reminds me of the one time..." Just like with Calseneica, she goes on about previous performances all around the world, as well as listening to Robahl's own experiences as a director. All in all she tries to come off as an excitable, yet refined young lady. "...And I'll tell you now - those Varisians are completely unprofessional, but they sure do know how to party!"
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
GM Mug
Robahl spends most of your conversation trying to convince you to sleep with him, obvious and even surprisingly charming when he's got his eye on a certain prize. Despite that unpleasantness, you do notice that you are no longer the target of his frequent tirades, ever. Quite the opposite, he lauds your abilities and uses you when berating others. "Why can't you be more like the beautiful Marina?" is often used. However he does not change your role. You gain a +4 morale bonus on ALL skill checks made in performances of any play Robahl directs.
Day 2
Most of this day consists of the PCs learning their lines and the blocking of motions and actions during the play. Robahl spends most of his time working with Millech to get all of the lighting and effects under control, giving the PCs a chance to practice their lines and spend time with Calseinica, Delour, and Thesing if they wish.
You can a new chance to try and interact with NPCs on Day 2, with a clean slate. You can use flex time, or otherwise, to signify your efforts are Day 2 specific.
------------------
Day 3
Day Three: Robahl starts doing full dry runs of the entire play during the day. Robahl spends much of his time with Calseinica and Corneleous, but the other actors are be available for other PCs to interact with throughout the day. At one point there is an impressive argument between Robahl and Thesing which draws quite a crowd. "I don't care if she jumps naked onto... into your bed! You keep away from her or so help me... you won't act in this city ever again!" Thesing follows up, "Oh please you sad little man, it's no secret -or surprise- that you haven't bedded her yet either! I will have that which I desire and nothing you can squeak or squawk can stop me! And while she's moaning my name, I'll be thinking of you!" *titters among the listeners* ".... Wait, you know what I mean!" and Thesing stalks off, red-faced.
As with Day 2, you can try and interact with other NPCs if you wish. Label appropriately. Also, everyone please roll me a DC5 Perform (act) check for Day 3, you may apply any performance bonuses garnered thus far.
Caladius Rend
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Caladius approaches Thesing at one point while the others are busy blocking a scene he isn't in. He stands a little too close to the man, still not really having any sense of personal space and genuinely asks, "Say, Thesing. Your mother's a bloated, hideous goat, right? What's the worst insult you've ever heard used to describe her? I'd like to add a little more to this part here to maybe liven things up, you know?"
diplomacy: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
Oh boy. Went back and editted my question to reflect the absolutely stellar roll.
"Uh, Delour? Do you have a moment? No? Well what do you think about this line here? Would you say it 'SOlanu saMATka' or 'solaNU samatKA'? Which do you think sounds more... er, 'spellish'? I think the first sounds better, but you're the professional here, not me, right?"
diplomacy: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (9) - 2 = 7
Caladius spends the day either saying the right line poorly from atop the wrong stage marker, or the wrong line (still poorly) atop the right marker. There is little he feels he has done right or well and by the end of the evening the tiefling is so angry and frustrated that he simply stops speaking. As soon as rehearsals are done, he storms through town to the nearest tavern and tries to drink the failures of the day away with abandon.
perform (act): 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (4) - 2 = 2
Wow. Caladius is really, REALLY bad at this stuff. Ouch!
Sabinus
Sabinus, like some of the others, is feeling very much out of his element, and still sulking about being required to play the joyful comic relief. Every time he tries to put it out of his mind, Robahl directs him on a pratfall or he stumbles over a silly riddle, and Sabinus is reminded of the mismatch. Or he gets a look in the mirror and sees the flowing shirts and colorful ribbons that make up his Varisian traveler costume.
Perform day 2: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3
What "performance bonuses" are you referring to, Mug?
Sabinus not only fumbles the intended pratfalls, but he improvises additional pratfalls during Farus' dance segments. His broad smile comes across like the expression on someone having a painful bowel movement.
On day 2, Sabinus doesn't speak much to the other actors, who completely intimidate him, but he makes another attempt to befriend Millech, who seems the most interesting person in the crew. "Robahl is lucky to have you as part of the crew. He sure doesn't make it easy on you with his casting picks, does he? Or is casting against type part his thing?"
Diplomacy day 2: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Perform day 3: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (13) - 2 = 11
On day 3, Sabinus tries a little harder to get into the character of Farus the Traveled, and manages to provide a bit more of the intended comic relief, but only by comparison with the prior day's performance.
He will again try to befriend Millech, mostly by following Millech around when Sabinus has spare time, and offering to help Millech at any opportunity.
Diplomacy day 3: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
But when asked to hold a rope suspending a water-filled bucket, Sabinus lets the rope slip, drenching Millech. After that, when not required on stage, Sabinus sits in a dark corner by himself.
Enko Laberan
Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 3
"Thesing," begins Enko, butting in front of Ulvauno on the way to something far more important, "I feel like we got off on the wrong foot with our first meeting. Have you gotten out of the horse-killing business?"
Perform Act: 1d20 ⇒ 17
"Thus does the light of Aroden illumine the path laid out for his beloved humanity, with tapers lighting the way to medicines pure and good, and spires and spans to bridge the heavens themselves," says Enko with great zeal, as he bounds over a set of barrels and torches.
Diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 20
In between scenes, he approaches the Visbaronetess with some trepidation. "My Esteemed Lady, forgive a mere peasant's audacity for an audience with one of your station; I merely wish to extend my sincere regards for your thespian talents. It is an unparalleled honor to be on the same stage. If there is any advice you could impart to a bumbling fool such as me, I would be forever indebted."
Enko can hardly believe the flowery Old Wiscrani etiquette that flows from his lips.
GM Mug
@All - If you haven't been bestowed any skill/performance check bonuses by your GM, then you're currently operating without any. Also, there's no rule against attempting to befriend/chat up multiple NPCs each day. Most have limited interaction attempts to a single NPC per day, which is fine, but if you want to try for more, it is allowed.
Lucon
Diplomacy: Delour 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Diplomacy: Thesing 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Lucon is somewhat slow to learn his lines, and somewhat slower to look the part of Drovalid the torturer, handling his whip with all the grace and menace of a ogrillon ballerina. Floundering somewhat, he moves to ask the other actors desperately for advice, first approaching Calseinicia, but he turns beet-red at her withering stare and the words die in his throat.
He approaches Thesing as well, but cannot do so without wincing at the barrage of insults that is to follow. "I... er, fear I'm ill-suited to playing a torturer. Perhaps you could show me how to handle a whip?" he begins, deciding to leave the rest unsaid. You've certainly beaten your fair share of horses halfway to death. I'm sure milord will have much to teach me.
Finally he approaches the diva, head hung. "I... a thousand pardons, milady, but I can't help but notice what incredible, er... stage presence, you have. Perhaps you could teach me a thing or two? I would hate to diminish milady's performance with my own floundering." he says with an honest smile and a timid shrug. This is my (12) for the day. I hope it's good for something. :'(
Diplomacy: Delour 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Diplomacy: Calseinicia 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Lucon will shake his head at the argument. "Show some bloody manners and don't talk about such things with ladies present." he snaps, disparagingly, grabbing Thesing by the arm as he passes. "Shame on you, the both of you! Spitting more filth than the River Advidian... Show a little respect." he grunts, releasing him and folding his arms, surprised even at himself and cursing himself for moving Thesing's initial attitude from unfriendly to hostile.
_
He'll also approach Calsceinicia shaking his head and fuming. "The nerve of those two, carrying on like that. If they were my sons I would be ashamed. I'd box them about the ears and send them to their rooms and..." he begins, calming down somewhat. "...and I am talking nonsense. Does milady put up with this all the time? I was raised to believe that gentlemen behaved a little more... well, gentlemanly." He'll press her for acting tips if this conversation continues.
_
Before his rehersal he will approach Delour again, bowing timidly. "Pardon me, milady... Visbaronetta. I would be humbled if you could teach me how to project your voice like you do... so very well."
_
Lucon brandishes his whip almost menacingly, pacing about the stage as he delivers his soliloquy.
"He is as unbreakable as a marble tide/
dragon's scale would have shattered long ago/
...and yet... he stands unbowed!"
"No lie can evade this unholy lash of mine, gifted to me by Lord Entropy himself..." he says, throwing his arms wide. "LARAZOD MUST SPEAK THE TRUTH!" Best role ever, though I'm probably performing a little above my dice rolls here. But it's fun putting every 3 down to stage fright and secretly being a prodigy. :P
Nothing for speaking with Millech on day 1? Drat.

"My, my... What was all that commotion about?" Marina says, raising a hand to her mouth. "Well, I suppose it's not my business. Thesing, what do you think of my dwarven impression?" Marina then proceeds to hobble about the stage being surly and red-faced, shouting expletives at imaginary people.

Thesing sides over at your approach, sniffing disdainfully. When you start to converse with him, he seems to listen at first, but then his face turns more and more red as you speak. Finally he bursts out, "Shut your mouth you son-of-a-demon-whore!" and then stalks away, pushing too-slow stagehands out of his way.
Day 3
The heavyset woman looks over at you, clearly annoyed by your speaking to her, but also an odd light appears as she notices you. "My dear, large, Pumpkin, you should speak less, or not at all. Bring something beautiful and expensive to my room and I'll allow you to pleasure me. Until then, do not speak to me again." and walks majestically away.
Millech spits near your feet as you converse. "The walrus does what he likes, and I've plenty of skill to handle you lot. Nice to be recognized though." and then shambes away. You get the feeling you didn't make a good impression, but also didn't burn any bridges.
Day 3
After being drenched Millech does spit on your shoes, and curses you out as you walk away to your hiding spot.
Thesing hisses into your face, "Stay out of my way, little man, or dead-horses will be the least of your worries!" and stalks away in a fury.
Day 3
The Visbaronetess pretends not to watch your performance during the day, but when you approach there is some respect in her heavily-makeuped eyes. "I will help you, but only because of your obviously noble upbringing. However I do require proof of your interest. Bring a suitably expensive trinket to my rooms later, and we can discuss your... 'training'.
Your discomfort clearly affects both Calseinicia and Thesing, the actress too uncertain how to recover the conversation, and Thesing laughing openly in your face. Aulamaxa, however, doesn't dismiss you right away, "You're a boarish oaf, but you clearly are trying hard to speak with those above your station, and that is to be commended. Bring a suitably expensive bauble to my room later, and I will see how we might help one another.
Day 3
Thesing just jerks his arm back, after you release it, and shoots daggers at you with his eyes, spitting the word out, "Peasant!" and leaves.
Calseinicia takes your arm in a little squeeze, "Thank you sir, you mustn't mind Thesing, he's a truly gifted actor and they are suceptible to moodiness. But again, I thank you." She happily spends some time showing you some tips and tricks she's picked up along the way, helping you improve your skills quite a bit. You gain a +2 bonus on all skill checks made during the performance, or practices. Also, sorry nothing for Millech on Day 1. :(
Aulamaxa corners you after you approach her, her considerable girth making moving around her difficult, "I will teach you many things, big boy, be sure to bring my gift. Tonight!" You seem to have made quite the impact on the heavy diva.
Thesing seems to speak to you, shortly, but with some grudging respect, "So, what do you think of that Marina woman and Robahl? It's like picturing a harpy on an elephant, am I right?!" Give me a response to this please.
Day 3
Robahl puts up with your buttering for a while, but then starts to avoid you, yelling at someone in the distance and stalking that direction whenever you approach. At least his ire isn't directed your way.
Alamauxa turns to look at you, speaking in a heavy voice, "Indeed, if only. You seem to be a sweet, air-headed little thing, and you bother me. But if you wish to remain in my vicinity, I will tolerate it, for a price. Bring me something that sparkles and you may stand with my entourage. That will be all."
Thesing tries to speak to you about how handsome he is, and your red-faced tirade sets him back a little. Suprisingly he doesn't leave quite yet, "So, what are you doing later? Perhaps some wine in my room?"
Day 3
nice roll!
Day 4
This day goes much like Day 3, and at this point, you all start to notice some serious anticipation building in the city. Those who leave through the day, perhaps to go get lunch, or to relax later in the evening, hear town criers announcing the play in their loud voices, "Come one, come all! Be inspired as our incredible actors of legendary skill move you in ways never before experienced! Truly gifted who have played to royalty in over ten kingdoms!" Wherever you go, the play seems to be on everyone's lips, and come evening crowds begin to form around the playhouse.
You do have time for a fresh interaction with 1 NPC on Day 4.
A DC 15 Diplomacy check is good enough to talk a crowd out of it, but otherwise the crowd demands a preview. To perform a preview, you must make a DC 15 Perform (act) check --add your bonuses gained thus far.
Caladius Rend
Heh. Take that, you worthless crow. Thereafter, Caladius only addresses Thesing as 'dad'.
Day 4
Caladius approaches the corpulent woman, but doesn't get past her name before his attempt at smoothing things over quickly backfires. "Delour? I'm a little confused about what you said... errr... yesterday. You are nearly the size of a small theater yourself. Does that mean your thinly veiled attempt at seducing me was a request for food? A lot of food? Because I'll get you a sandwich or something, but I don't think I want what you're offering. It was cute of you to try, though."
Diplomacy: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
AARRRGH. DICEBOT WHY DO YOU HATE ME SO HARDDDD?!
After this, Caladius spends the rest of the day avoiding as much of humanity as is possible, rarely leaving a dark, quiet corner of the playhouse.
Sabinus
Day 4: Sabinus is willing to share with Caladius his knowledge of the darkest, quietest corners of the playhouse. He will not make any further attempts to befriend Millech, but he will approach Calseinica on day 4, hoping to ask her for some acting tips.
Diplomacy:1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
But his nervousness does him in, as his attempt at conversation turns into a torturous avalanche of stuttering. "Cal.. Calese... Cals... My laa..ddd...yy. I wa..wa.was... hoooo..ppp... Oh, fff... forget it." He goes back to his corner. "Make some room, Caladius."
Sabinus
Oh and, for the record, since nothing that has happened during the rehearsals has made Sabinus feel like a competent person, much less a competent actor, he will not be out mingling with the public talking up the play, thank you very much.
Ava Wavesdotter
Marina listens intently to Delour's words, seemingly eager to please. "Of course, a token of our friendship!" she says excitedly, hurrying off to some unseen place. There she changes back to the form of Ava, and removes some of her jewellery, trying to weigh up just how much this woman's favour would help. She lets out a heavy sigh. Logic tells her that she doesn't have any need for real jewellery now that she has the hood... but her dwarven blood is loathe to let the gemstones go.
"An investment." She says, trying to convince herself."This is an investment. You're not just giving it away. This will pay off. Damned actors..."
---
Marina thinks about Thesing's offer for a moment, counting something on her fingers. "Ah me, I'll have to decline, unfortunately. With rehearsals all day, I do fear my free time has become exceedingly scarce!" she says exasperatedly. "Though perhaps after this production is all done, we could have a drink together and talk actor to actor. Well, actress in this case." She smiles, and returns to practicing her "Aye, Laddy" and stomping around like a barrel on legs. The more she thinks on it, the less and less idea Ava has of how a real dwarf is supposed to act. The thought bothers her a little.
Ava navigates the crowd under the guise of a very plain-looking man before reaching the playhouse and slipping in and becoming Lady Marina once more.
"Ah, Delour!" Marina claps her hands together as she spots the diva. "May I say you're looking absolutely gorgeous today! I have something for you that I think you'll like." Marina retrieves a handsome box from within her bag and slides the lid open, revealing the contents inside. "White gold and Opal. Very fine craftsmanship, I thought it would suit your complexion quite well..." Marina natters on for a bit, telling amusing anecdotes about the jewelers and seamstresses of Westcrown. "... And that was the last time I ever hired an elf as a tailor. Of course, I made sure he never worked in this town again. Ah, sweet retribution."
Ava will gift her 100gp worth of Jewellery in the form of a lovely pair of earrings and bracelets.

minus 100 gp for the ring, if you please. :)
Enko has been taking pains to pay attention to Robahl's various rants and seizes the opportunity to try something. "Begging your pardon, Robahl, but you had pointed out that our acting has been too tense. Is something like this more...relaxed?"
Enko then pratfalls down a ramp to land in a contortionist's boneless heap, one leg flipped over his shoulder.

Day 4
Delour throws the nearest thing she can get her hands on, a cup of wine in this instance, and tromps away in a red-faced huff.
Calseinica just gives you a look full of pity, and seems unable to formulate a response before you walk away.
The Visbaronetess clasps the ring gently, "oooh, it's lovely! Do come in my sweet!" and steps aside to allow you to enter. Once inside she invites you to sit on a low but comfortable couch, and takes up the rest of the couch herself. She reaches to a nearby table and produces some fine wine, pouring glasses for both of you without a by-your-leave. Handing a near-full glass to you she raises her own in a toast, "What shall we drink to cutums?"
Day 4
Robahl watches your performance, and seems slightly impressed and confused. "Uh-huh. Lets put a pin in that idea, perhaps you can adlib that into a battle scene somehow? I need a drink." and walks away, presumably to find the aforementioned drink.
Aulamaxa smiles when you answer the door, but her face immediately falls grave when she spots what's in your hand. She snatches it from you, inspecting it from top to bottom, and then throws it down with shattering force. Without inspecting her handiwork she slams the door closed, but not before you hear, "Oaf" from the other side.
The man laughs uproarously at your jest, clapping you on the shoulder. "I think we'll get along you and I, yes indeed. Tell me, as I'm sure you've no chance with her, what can I do to get Calseinica out of that dress!? You two are together constantly these days and all that! Out with it man!"
+4 bonus on all Diplomacy checks made in Westcrown if you mention you're a friend of Thesings. This lasts for 1 week.
Day 4
A note is delivered to you from Aulamaxa later in the day, thanking you for the food and flowers, but petulantly asking for a 'true and measureable' indication of your affection. Clearly she's in need of some expensive material evidence.
Thesing does a poor job of swallowing his frustration, and bows his way elsewhere at your refusal to join him for wine.
Day 4
Aulamaxa seems quite taken with you, and invites you to spend much of her downtime with her. She lords you over her other followers, cutting them down for not measuring up to her best friend Marina. You gain the ability to namedrop her once per day when purchasing anything in Westcrown worth a minimum of 100 gp—doing so grants a 20% price reduction from the actual price of the object being purchased.
Day 5
Today Robahl isolates a particular problem spot for each of you, calling you to the stage individually and has you go over his scene again and again. All the while he shouts and berrates you for each mistake, real or imagined. Failure to measure up to his standard brings a wave of insults from Robahl, who eventually accepts your performance, muttering loudly enough for you to hear him clearly, "It is a waste of time to expect anything but mediocrity from mediocrity."

DICEBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!
Caladius regresses somehow, despite five long days on the stage. He somehow manages to miss every one of his cues, and at times even responds with someone else's lines rather than his own. He often times inadvertently addresses Thesing as "dad" rather than his character's name during the rehearsal and at one point is so distracted imagining what Delour would look like if she were a giant, green slug person that he forgets to leave the stage until she chases him off.
Whatever we're doing this for... it is not worth it. It is not worth it.

Performance: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Throughout the week, Marina spends much of her time socializing with her fellow castmembers, laughing and smiling as they exchange tales. Though it warms them up to her quite well, it does come with the added effect of her making no significant progress in her personal performances - She says her lines and acts out her blocking as well as usual, but no more than that.

Perform:1d20 - 2 ⇒ (17) - 2 = 15
Sabinus performs pretty well for a dour grey-toned witch playing a jovial and witty Varisian wanderer. Which is to say, not too convincingly. He dances ungracefully and delivers his witticisms with an obviously fake attempt at levity. But he does remember his lines and make all his marks. Regardless of Robahl's reaction, Sabinus is feeling proud of himself for the first time all week.
Later, he approaches Calseinica with newfound confidence: "Did you see? I didn't totally mess my part up? Do you ..."
Diplomacy:1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Sabinus slips on the stage, stumbles forward, and, without thinking, he grabs at Calseinica to regain his balance and rips the sleeve on her dress.
Confidence blown, enemies made, Sabinus immediately casts levitation and hides amongst the rafters.
Enko Laberan
Perform: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Enko's line delivery is middling; he is still woefully flat in places, making the script sound more like a dull sacred text than lines an actual breathing person would recite.
Enko sips at the wine tentatively, dwarfed by the Visbaronetess' bulk. "To--to your excellent health, m'Lady. And to a fantastic performance to come. I am sure the audience will show you much favor." He very much wishes Mathalen was there to rescue him and his honor, but sips again at his wine with a tiny measure of bravado, and looks around the room frantically to see if there is something he can discuss with the Visbaronetess that doesn't involve such close physical proximity--a painting, a sculpture, a pet quasit, anything.

Day 6
This is the last day to iron out problem scenes before the dress rehearsal. Robahl has you go over some of the difficult parts again and again, each attempt beginning to run together in your minds. He is constantly reminding you, "Dress rehersal is tomorrow at 4, and this Limehouse theater will be filled with locals simpletons eager to catch a glimpse of the play they will have no chance of seeing in it's true form. I welcome their jeers and taunts and crudeness, for if you can survive them, you are that much better prepared for the true performance. You're resolve and focus will be that much the stronger! Now, from the top... Lets do it AGAIN!"
Make a Perform (act) check, this one against DC10 and you can use any pertinent bonuses garnered thus far.
A DetectMagic/Spellcraft DC20 reveals it the circlet to be a Circlet of Persuasion.
Ava Wavesdotter
Marina performs her role perfectly. Why, it's almost as if she really were a dwarf herself. It's uncanny. She's quite satisfied with herself, before coming to the realization that there was no audience present to appreciate it.
Perform: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Woop, wasting all my 20s on the easy rolls.
Sabinus
He takes a moment to study the circlet.
Spellcraft:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Sabinus can tell it is magical, but isn't able to discern its exact nature, although he understands it is meant to help with his acting.
Sabinus strolls out to the center stage with an extra bounce in his step, sporting a silver circlet in a pattern of intertwined leaves. It is a little jarring to see such a lovely item on the head of our gaunt and grey young witch.
Sabinus intones his lines with a minimal degree of competence. The performance lacks a certain pizzazz possessed by yesterday's also flawed performance, but the awkwardness is somewhat smoothed over and Sabinus certainly has more presence than is typical for the oft-overlooked caster.
Perform:1d20 - 2 + 3 ⇒ (13) - 2 + 3 = 14
Caladius Rend
Frustrated to the point of apathy, Caladius arrives at the theater late for the day's practice. No longer caring what anyone will think and fully expecting to utterly fail once more, he steps onto stage and ignores almost everyone unless he finds himself in the middle of a scene with them.
Perform (act): 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (20) - 2 = 18
It seems the teifling managed to learn and retain quite a bit during the last few days, and he produces a much more comfortable and natural performance on this sixth day. His insults are sharp and on cue and he manages to nail all his blocking as well. He remains unaware of whatever progress he made, however, and as soon as he is able he leaves the theater house for the local tavern, fulling dreading tomorrow's dress rehearsal.
Lucon
Perform: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Lucon manages another fine performance, and despite himself heads home with a smile on his face, busying himself about his workshop instead of retiring to his bedchamber pale-faced and without supper.
Enko Laberan

1d20 ⇒ 1
Enko opens his mouth and collapses in a coughing fit that lasts several minutes. He looks around for water, takes a sip from a cup, only to find it to be terpene varnish for the stage. Spluttering, he crawls off the stage.

Corneleous - go ahead and post your Day 6 in FlexTime.
----------------------
Day 7
The first part of this day is spent tightening up any last minute issues with scenes or other logistics— the public dress rehearsal is scheduled to begin at 4:00 in the afternoon.
Go ahead and do anything in the morning you'd like.
The Limehouse fills quickly as the time for the dress rehearsal draws near—by 4:00, the theater is packed with over a hundred excited, noisy theater patrons eager to see flubbed lines, missed cues, and not-quite-special effects. The din of the crowd is slightly intimidating—this is not an audience interested in remaining quiet and respectful during a performance. You think you even see animals in the aisles
Just before the dress rehearsal begins, Robahl offers some last advice: "Do your job. Ignore the rabble. If they throw something, take it and move on. Anything less than them actually starting a fire is not cause to stop the performance. There won't be any actual battles today, those portions are still going to be an exciting reveal on the day " He gives a nervous laugh at the end and gives you each a final nod, before taking his leave.
Corneleous (Larazod) - you must make seven Performance (act) checks DC21. Everyone else is basically making Performance (act) assist checks (DC10). To save time, everyone roll seven performance checks, and highlight the rolls you make the DC. Good luck!
Caladius Rend
Caladius spends the morning back at the Torchbearer's base, trying to find solace in shooting targets off a barrel from varying angles and distances. As the afternoon wears on, he begrudgingly turns from the range and heads over to the playhouse, his mood darkening with successive step. Let's just get this over with already...
Perform (act) #1: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (20) - 2 = 18
Perform (act) #2: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (9) - 2 = 7
Perform (act) #3: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (17) - 2 = 15

Perform (act) #6: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (19) - 2 = 17
Perform (act) #7: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (8) - 2 = 6
Sabinus
Sabinus stayed up late into the night finding solace by communing and playing with Tycho. He wakes up late and heads over to the Torcherbearer base. He watches Caladius' target practice and speaks to Arael: "This assignment has certainly taken us out of our comfort zone. The others have managed to adjust with greater or lesser degrees of success -- even Lucon, despite his complaints -- but Caladius and I have been plagued with one embarassment after another. I suspect once this is all over the two of us will need some time regaining our confidence by exercising our core competencies... Actually, maybe that's what Caladius is doing right now. I should do the same and go find some people to put to sleep."
On the way to the theater, Sabinus amuses himself by passing nearby a crowded marketplace and causing a few random citizens and animals to fall asleep. Nothing too conspicuous or risky, just a bit of confidence building before the dress rehearsal.
Perform:1d20 - 2 + 3 ⇒ (16) - 2 + 3 = 17
Perform:1d20 - 2 + 3 ⇒ (15) - 2 + 3 = 16
Perform:1d20 - 2 + 3 ⇒ (8) - 2 + 3 = 9
Perform:1d20 - 2 + 3 ⇒ (10) - 2 + 3 = 11
Perform:1d20 - 2 + 3 ⇒ (6) - 2 + 3 = 7
Perform:1d20 - 2 + 3 ⇒ (13) - 2 + 3 = 14
Perform:1d20 - 2 + 3 ⇒ (13) - 2 + 3 = 14
He doesn't hit all his marks and he doesn't dazzle, but Sabinus feels he managed not to embarrass himself.

lol
The torchbearers all wish you luck on Dress Rehearsal day, and some even plan on trying to attend the performance. Arael commiserates with Sabinus, putting a friendly hand on his shoulder, "The week is nearly done, and I know you've each tried your best. I appreciate you putting the good of Westcrown ahead of your own desires. It cannot be easy." When you state your desire to put some people to sleep he raises his eyebrows high on his smooth forehead, "Well, don't get caught at least!" and smiles as he moves to speak with one of the others.
Some nice rolls so far!

Perform (aid another): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Perform (aid another): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Two nineteens and two twenties. Wait until we find a fight and I dont land a single hit. *grumble grumble*
Viscount Corneleous Ornelos

Perform 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Well at least he got that.
Day 7:
Perform 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Perform 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Perform 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Perform 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Perform 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Perform 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Perform 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
So looks like the Viscount hit a high note in the middle after a rockier start. How long are these checks (eagle's splendor lasts 1 min/level, +1/2 level if I use the meta magic rod to extend it), so if he would have time to purchase/learn it before the show he could get a +2 bonus (and cast it twice).

Enko leaps up to offer his gracious hostess another cup. "More wine, M'Lady Aulamaxa?" He fills it to the brim, carefully.
