Aric? Is that you??? |
Hey Celeste - you didn’t need to discard your Acid Jet at the top of your last round because you started at a closed location!
cartmanbeck RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16 |
Hello my dear box runners and players!
I’d first like to say thank you so much for participating in the first Cards Against Gnomanity event. It’s truly been a fantastic showing by our burgeoning online community, and the box runners should be commended for putting up with a system that is still having some major wrinkles ironed out.
Cards Against Gnomanity officially ends this coming Sunday, August 12th, at 11:59 PM Eastern time. If you have a game ongoing that you’d like to continue past this time, that’s fine with us, but any game that ends after 11:59 will not be counted as being part of this event. However, we have another event that is starting up RIGHT AFTER this one! I’m talking about Play-By-Post Gameday VII. This event will include the multi-table special Assault on Absalom in slot 2, which runs from October 1st-November 12th. As of this moment, there are two slots left at tables for that special on the ACG side, so if you haven’t signed up yet, go check out the Specials Sign-up Sheet.
If you plan to continue a game and would like sessions reported between August 13th and September 30th to count as part of GameDay VII (and therefore be eligible for ACG boon rolls), please email me at cartmanbeck@orgplayonline.com with your screenname, the link to the paizo.com forum thread where you’re running the game, and the game number in the ACG online database BEFORE Cards Against Gnomanity ends on Sunday night.
When the first slot of GameDay VII ends on September 30th, if you are running or playing in any tables of Assault on Absalom, I will ask that you try to wrap up as many of your tables as possible in order to free up time and energy to devote to the Assault on Absalom run. We want this to be a huge success! Andrew (Hawkmoon 269) will be the lead for this event, so if you have questions about how it will run, email him at hawkmoon269@orgplayonline.com.
As of now, I’m seeing 75 sessions of ACG in our reporting sheet for Cards Against Gnomanity (I’ll note that I’m behind on reporting a few sessoins myself, but will get that taken care of later today). If you have not yet filled out the reporting sheet for your games, PLEASE do so as soon as possible! Reporting Sheet
Once the event ends and we've confirmed that all sessions have been added to the reporting sheet, I'll be doing a drawing for a small number of paizo.com gift certificates. Each player and box runner will have one chance at getting these, so it doesn't matter how many games you played, you have an equal shot. I'll also be looking over the total number of convention rewards/boons that we gave out to see how close to 10% we got... if the random number generator was a bit greedy, I may randomly hand out a few more of those as well.
Thank you all again, and feel free to email me with questions.

Aric? Is that you??? |
I like this group - don't know if we would continue on post-Cards against Gnomanity, but I would definitely consider it.
Oloch - Gimry |
I would like to at least finish AD 1 if that would be possible.
Also, Enora and I are out traveling this weekend, so our posts may be sporadic and brief.
So if we screwed something up, we're sorry in advance.
BR Elinnea |
I'd like to at least finish the adventure with you guys too. That means one more scenario after this one. I'm assuming you would like it to be a part of the Gameday event. (It doesn't make a difference for the actual game, but would let you keep rolling for con rewards, and I hear a whispering on the wind that they're different from the ones that we had for CaG.)
There's no pressure to continue after this scenario if you don't want, but I hope everyone does - it has been a good group. :)
Aric? Is that you??? |
There's two conflicting rules that are playing out with respect to the Blessing of the Ancients that I played on my turn to get an additional explore: the location power ("When you play a card that has the Divine trait, bury it.") and the Blessings Deck Power (mirrored Blessing of the Ancients means that when you play the Blessing of the Ancients, you recharge it).
Which one is valid? I'm happy to discard (instead of recharge) my blessing in my deck. The Blessing of the Ancients in my hand, BTW, I got from closing the location, so that one doesn't need to be adjusted.
Oloch - Gimry |
For the Mirage, I have a d8+1 Wisdom roll. Everyone has a blessing, so I can get 4d8+1 to hit a 7 Wisdom. In the unlikely event that I fail, Aric probably Auto's that Perception check especially with at least +2 from me.
ACG Overseer |
Hello! Welcome to Play By Post Gameday VII. As part of the festivities for this event, we have a few rewards you can win. After your table completes a scenario, win or lose, each participant (player and/or box runner) rolls 1d20. If your result is 1 or 20, you win. Select your reward from the list below and inform your Box Runner of your choice. We’ll make sure you get the reward sent to you.
Remember, Session 1 runs from August 13th, 2018-September 30, 2018. Your table must complete the scenario between those dates to roll for a reward. During Session II (October 1-November 12th) we’ll be running the multiple table interactive special Assault on Absalom.
Box Runners: If you have any questions about how to report, please contact me.
Have fun!
Gameday VII Adventure Card Game Rewards
Season of Tapestry’s Tides Reward #1
Unconventional Firepower: You may add one weapon that has the Firearm trait and one item that has the Ammunition trait from the Gunslinger Class Deck to your box. These cards must have an adventure deck number equal to or lower than your current tier. Each time you advance a tier, you may exchange one of these cards with another card of the same type from the Gunslinger Class Deck, following the same restrictions.
Season of Tapestry’s Tides Reward #2
Burgeoning Captain: At the beginning of a scenario that uses the Skull & Shackles Base Set, you may cross out this reward to gain the skill Survival: Wisdom +2 on your checks attempted while you are on a ship and on your checks attempted against a ship until the end of the scenario.
Season of Tapestry’s Tides Reward #3
Sea Legs: When you would fail a combat check against a bane that has the Aquatic trait, you may cross out this reward to reroll the dice and add 1d6; take the new result.
Aric? Is that you??? |
Woo-hoo! New boon roll!!!!
C’mon Baby, Papa needs a brand new boon...: 1d20 ⇒ 12 Poop.
BR Elinnea |
These are the boons I have available for deck upgrades. Let me know if you see any discrepancies with what you collected.

Aric? Is that you??? |
Woo-hoo! We get a Card Feat!
I'd very much like the Ally 1.
1d1000 ⇒ 263
If not possible, I'd very much like the Weapon 1.
1d1000 ⇒ 30
Guh. I guess I'll take whatever I get.
Oloch - Gimry |
If we take a card feat, can the new card be one of the ones from the reward pile in addition to the actual reward card we get? ie: If I take the Card Feat:Weapon upgrade, can I take the Weapon 1 card as a reward and replace an existing card, but then use one of the WeaponB's we got from the scenario as my new Card for the feat, or would the Weapon1 basically need to be my Card Upgrade?
Boon Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Weapon 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 424
BR Elinnea |
The card feat creates a ‘gap’ in your hand, but you only get a single card upgrade. So either you take the Weapon 1 to fill the new weapon slot and leave the rest of your hand unchanged, or you upgrade one of your existing cards with the Weapon 1 and then fill in the new card slot with a Basic B weapon.
Enora - Eslibedesh |
I will gladly take an Ally as my card feat, and I'll take the spell 1 if possible...
1d100: 1d1000 ⇒ 6
...Wow. That happened.
Welp, I will take the Spell B then.
boon roll: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Aric? Is that you??? |
I'll take a Blessing as my Card feat.
I get the Ally 1! Yippee!
Oloch - Gimry |
Shouldn't Celeste have been forced to encounter Halfwit from the blades? With no cards, she probably can't beat him, but that would mean an undefeated Villain. However, we would want to temp close locations to avoid losing too many blessings from the deck.
BR Elinnea |
Oof, yeah that was a harsh turn. At least you get to recharge a random card when you end your turn at that location.
PSA to everyone: Andrew/Hawkmoon is emailing out some bonus rewards to random players who participated in Cards Against Gnomanity, but his emails are getting caught in some peoples' spam filters. Please check the email you used to sign up for this event and make sure you're not missing out on something good.
Aric? Is that you??? |
So now that we’re -3 blessings from the timer, perhaps we should focus on closing the locations where the villain cannot be: specifically, the Towering Obelisk and the Scorching Sands.
Aric? Is that you??? |
CONFUSION.
If we are going by timeline, then Oloch triggered the Second Law and the curse when he defeated the Alchemical Gas on his turn. I still forgot about it when I defeated the Dry Quicksand and put up a post where I triggered the Second Law and banished it, but GM - how do you want to handle this?
I blame the Paizo website shenanigans for my error. (Not really.)
BR Elinnea |
Interesting. At first I didn't think the alchemical gas triggered the second law because the barrier doesn't actually tell you to encounter or defeat it at the start of your turn; you make a check to banish the card. But now that the question is raised it seems strange not to count that as defeating the barrier.
If everyone's okay with that, I'd accept Oloch's latest ret-con post.
Oloch - Gimry |
Yeah, I went back and forth on the Second Law as well when you mentioned it for Aric. Technically, the Second Law just says "Defeat" which is what I did, so I was pretty sure I needed to trigger it. Just because the defeat banishes the card, doesn't change that it was defeated.
BR Elinnea |
That was a thrilling conclusion! Aric coming in with a clutch Lottery Urn!
Here's what I have for acquired cards:
Pard (Ally B)
Dhabba (Ally B)
Shock Lizard (Ally B)
Stained Glass Elemental (Ally B)
Dhabba (Ally B)
Dhabba (Ally B)
Crocodile Skin Lamellar (Armor B)
Crocodile Skin Armor (Armor C)
Tussah Silk Coat (Armor B)
Crocodile Skin Lamellar (Armor B)
Tussah Silk Coat (Armor B)
Blessing of Wadjet (Blessing B)
Blessing of the Elements (Blessing B)
Antitoxin (Item B)
Crowbar (Item C)
Potion of Healing (Item B)
Magnifying Glass (Item B)
Feather of Maat (Item B)
Elemental Treaty (Spell B)
Elemental Treaty (Spell C)
Chakram (Weapon B)
Glacial Khopesh +1 (Weapon 1)
You also each get to roll for the Gameday boons/rewards, and also for completing an adventure you each get one die bump (as described on page 9 of the ACG guild guide).
My reward roll: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Since we completed the adventure I'll get a chronicle filled out for each of you. (It will take a couple days, though.)
Oloch - Gimry |
Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 16
I'm game for continuing on. I'm not using this character in the next big convention in October. (Not like there are ever any Deck 2 games anyways ;) )
I'll roll for the Weapon 1, but I may just take the basic weapon. I haven't decided for sure yet.
Weapon1: 1d1000 ⇒ 115
Probably taking the Basic Weapon either way :)
And Aric can take the Whip thing because it's Finesse.
BR Elinnea |
I'd like to continue on to Adventure 2 as well. The only caveat is that in a couple weeks I will be traveling overseas for around three weeks. I won't be able to run a game during that time. Options that I see:
1) We can start Adventure 2, then take an extended break until mid-October. I haven't looked at it yet, but I'd guess we could probably get through a scenario before I leave.
2) Take the break now, and then check back in when I return to start Adventure 4-2.
3) There's a completely optional promotional scenario (this one) that ties in to the Hell's Vengenace 1 deck and comes between 4-1 and 4-2. We could run that if you want to. It's free to download, so you can look at it if you want to see what it's about. Similar to option 1, we might be able to fit that in before I leave.
Aric? Is that you??? |
I'd love to try the #3 option, but I definitely want to continue playing with y'all!
As far as deck upgrades go, I really really really would like that Scorpion Whip. So much so that I would let Oloch have the Weapon 1 upgrade because that whip is so nice. I'll take the Weapon B upgrade and pick up my Sword Cane! I also wouldn't be allergic to Ahkentopi armour, but I won't be greedy.
I really got lucky with the Lottery Urn.
Oh, and....
Boon Town?: 1d20 ⇒ 1 YESSSSSSSSS!
I will take the Unconventional Firepower boon, thank you.
BR Elinnea |
Ok, then we've got:
Celeste: no upgrades
Enora: Spell B
Oloch: Weapon 1 (or B?)
Aric: Weapon B, Unconventional Firepower convention reward
If you want to play the promotional scenario, you have another choice to make as a group. You would go up against one of three characters: Lazzero the Cleric, Linxia the Hellknight, or Urgraz the Antipaladin. They each have different rules and rewards.
Oloch - Gimry |
I'm totally for laying the smackdown to an Antipaladin!
Edit: Yes. I'll be taking the Weapon 1 Upgrade as well.
@Aric: Take the Armor, I'm good.
