I'm putting this here because I have to say it somewhere, and I'm hoping someone here will understand why this is big for me. I recently started ADHD meds (been on them for a few weeks).

And I realized that not only have I actually done a couple of (for me) big cleaning pushes showing really progress, and one of them I've kept for over a week now, but yesterday I cooked and ate like a normal person. I made myself bacon cheese burgers with tater tots. I made the burgers from scratch and fried up the bacon myself. and the Tots were from frozen but... normally when I make bacon, as soon as I finish I go sit down and mindlessly eat it all.
Yesterday, I put one piece each, broken in two on my burgers for lunch and dinner yesterday. I had a few pieces with breakfast this morning, and I still have some left over.

I ate like a normal person.

I don't know if anyone else can understand how big this is for me, but it is, I feel like I'm starting to function, like I can actually make my life better.

The right medication can do wonders. I'm glad you found something that helps.

Congrats! And (I hope this doesn't sound weird--forum posts have no tone but I'm really sincere here): Thank you for sharing your victory. It really helps to hear about other people's wins--it's encouraging and stokes hope and activates those happy mirror neurons, at least for me.

I'm glad they have meds to help and that you are finding success with them.

Great job, Zoken!

I have a big history of ADHD in my family, so I've seen first-hand how difficult it can sometimes be to manage impulse control and follow through with multi-step tasks. Not making any assumptions about you, but it sounds like you deserve to celebrate this victory!

Just remember, if you slide back a bit as you get used to new medication, don't beat yourself up over it. Most people will slide back as they adjust to a new baseline. If you slip up, acknowledge it, forgive yourself, and try again. Keep trying, and the victories will keep coming!
