Monster Lore and Giants

Slayer Class Discussion

Please change the wording in Monster Lore to include giants (or more particularly trolls) as they do not currently qualify as non-humanoids and are therefore not applicable, despite being quite monstrous.

Had the exact same thought. Giant-Slayer seems like an obvious premise for the class, but RAW most giants are excluded from the core knowledge feature.

Definitely intended to include giants, given they're listed as viable trophy options. Good catch, John.

All (higher-level) humanoids are viable trophy options; you just don't have monster knowledge about them.

Hags, Giants, Boggards, Serpantfolk, Oni, and Xulgath all feel thematically appropriate to be included in the Monster Lore but have the humanoid trait.
But who knows! Paizo has recently been trying to distance themselves from explicitly de-humanizing people-like enemies. It could all be intentional.

As I just told someone on Reddit, I've never met either in person but I imagine an empyrial dragon is much more reasonable and easier to relate to than a troll.

Don't forget skelm, sedacthy, medusas, yetis, and (most jarringly) the VAST majority of werecreatures!
