Looking for people who might be interested in a few adventures in the dark and dangerous Old World.

I don't know how long you're campaign will be, but I will say: Good luck with it! :)

DM Lil" Eschie wrote:

always!

Interested! Always wanted to try Warhammer :)

Grand Lodge

Interested

Never played the game, is it easy to get into? I do enjoy the novels.

It's quite easy, only d10/d100 to roll.

Silver Crusade

4th edition?? wow I remember playing first..

Me too, Tharasiph, me too..^^

Wouldn't mind learning. Warhammer is good lore.

Liberty's Edge

Certainly interested! Played some 1st and 2nd, and run a couple of one-shots with 4th - but could always play more :)

My WH game is currently Ona very slow pace due to GM obligations.

So I'll throw in my hat

Is it wrong to have a character idea already? :P

Interested. I have some dumb idea.

Lets see how long corporal carrot would survive.

Dire halfling?

Nope, a character from Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, of which I am a fan.

Would you be interested in the "Enemy within" campain or should I aim for a shorter introduction story?

I know. :P just a joke about a human raised by halflings

I should have said "dire dwarf"

I say go for it. Quick google search says it's an amazing adventure.

Just hope my idea works :P if chosen.

Btw. I'm very new to WHF RPG. But the system I'm familiar with. Played a lot of 40k

I'll take 5-6 players on this game, it will be enough

I would love an intro/starter adventure - need to learn the ropes, and that is always a great way. Also I think it is a good idea to start small, and then see where it takes you.

Quick concept: (Liliyashaninas character)

Carrot Ironaxeson

disclaimer: I am going off the internet, and have never made a wfrp character. I am however fairly well versed in Warhammer lor

Step 1: Choose species (human)

Step 2: Chose career (warrior probably)

Step 3: Not rolling attributes yet

Step 4:
Karotte would probably be from Nuln, as I think Nuln had a significant dwarf population, although Altmark also works. Pick something talent wise that increases being hard to kill.

Likely have leadership as a skill

Step 5:
Trappings: City guard may have above average starting gear (I hope)

Quirks:

He has a strong opinion on healthy dining habits, is very clean, and may at some point annoy the powers of Nurgle sufficiently to do something about him charismatically spreading sane dining and proper hygiene among the massess.

Not sure if adopted by dwarfs is a thing rules as written, can be done though if f.e. Carrots father saved a dwarfen lad at some point, and left his own kid in the care of that dwarfen clan while going off to war.

Would totally politely interview a Druchii assassin on his professional opinion of who done a particular murder, if satisfied that the druchii has not done it.

The Nuln/Altdorf city guard/witch hunters/inquisition may view him as very suspect, as he has never once been seen taking a bribe.

Liberty's Edge

Enemy within would be really cool, but I think it's pretty long one as well.
Maybe some shorter adventures to start with, and perhaps move to EW later on?

I think I misunderstood. This is Warhammer Fantasy, not Warhammer 40,000, right? I’ll step out and let others take it, I don’t know the Warhammer Fantasy universe at all.

Will you be making a new recruitment thread or will it continue from here?

Grand Lodge

Enemy within is cool. I hear its one of rhe best campaigns.

I have a character generator if that's cool even has gnomes.

@Ouachitonian: yes, it's Warhammer Fantasy, not 40000, I should have been clearer, sorry.

@All: I'll check for a short, introductory adventure before the Enemy Within, and will soon put a recruitment thread.

To give you an exemple of a Warhammer character, lets create a fictive Carrot Ironaxeson.

1-You choose to play an human (rolling for race gives you a few XP)
2-You choose to play a Warrior class and Guard career, forfeiting any XP (you can roll once, or twice, and get some XP)
3-Attributes:you divide 100 among the ten characteristics (no XP). You could have rolled and put the numbers straight down or even assigning each rolled score to the desired characteristics, which are:

Weapon skill (WS): to fight in melee
Ballistic skill (BS): for ranged attacks
Strenght (S): bonus to dmg
Toughness (T): resistance to dmg
Initiative (I): quickness to react
Agility (AG): Natural athletiscm
Dexterity (DEX):ability to perform fine manual tasks
Intelligence (INT): easy to understand
Willpower (WP): resistance to influence, magical or mundane
Fellowship: (FEL): your social skills

Humans have 20+2d10 in each characteristic, other race have higher scores in some, lower scores in others

Let's say we give 10 in each characteristics, and our character has 30 in every score.

You calculate his Wounds as such: Strenght bonus+(2*Toughness bonus)+Willpower bonus. The bonuses are the first digit of your score (ex 3 for any Strenght score between 30 and 39, 4 for any score between 40 and 49 and so on). So our character has 3+(2*3)+3=12 Wounds

each race has a native skills, and must choose 6 of them, 3 having a +5 bonus, 3 having a +3 bonus. For roleplaying sake, let's say our human adopted by dwarves can choose in the Dwarves list, which is:

Consume Alcohol (not getting drunk)
Cool (keeping your calm)
Endurance (work longer)
Entertain (storytelling)
Evaluate (knowing the worth of an item)
Intimidate
Langage Khazalid (tongue of dwarves)
Lore (Dwarf) knowing all about the society rules
Lore (Geology) knowing all about rocks
Lore Mettalurgy (all about metal)
Melee basic: use of simple melee weapons
Trade (any)

Carrot will take 5 bonus on Langage Khazalid, Lore Dwarf, and Melee, and 3 bonus on Lore Geology, Cool and Endurance.

(Will continue later)

I think I would take a pregen if possible :D

I was wondering, is Lustria ok to use? i would like to play a skink priest (wizard

otherwise i may go high elf wizard -

I could propose a few pregenerated characters to use, either for the introductory scenario or for the whole campaign

DM Lil" Eschie wrote:

That would be perfect - for me, pregens help a lot when learning a new system.

DM Lil" Eschie wrote:

Do you have something in mind already for the intro scenario?

That could perhaps help me narrow my character ideas.

Lustria is on special. Same with a few others. So if allowed to make a skink, I plan to buy the pdf

Silver Crusade

Rolling for character.. I got ratcatcher first character i ever made...

Grand Lodge

I hope I get something I can work with. Some are easier than others

Grand Lodge

Race would be like this
Race: 1d100 ⇒ 91

Career
Career: 1d100 ⇒ 2

Would be a Halfling Engineer

which if I could...Keep?

I'll roll for stats at very least
Not down the line though. That ALWAYS messes up my build :P

2d10 ⇒ (4, 9) = 13
2d10 ⇒ (7, 10) = 17
2d10 ⇒ (8, 5) = 13
2d10 ⇒ (9, 7) = 16
2d10 ⇒ (7, 5) = 12
2d10 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8
2d10 ⇒ (9, 8) = 17
2d10 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5
2d10 ⇒ (9, 10) = 19
2d10 ⇒ (1, 7) = 8

2d10 ⇒ (7, 4) = 11
2d10 ⇒ (9, 10) = 19
2d10 ⇒ (8, 10) = 18
2d10 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11
2d10 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3
2d10 ⇒ (2, 7) = 9
2d10 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7
2d10 ⇒ (7, 7) = 14
2d10 ⇒ (2, 8) = 10
2d10 ⇒ (2, 8) = 10

And if I remember correctly, one stat can be rolled again? Or turned into a 10? It’s been a long time.

2d10 ⇒ (8, 2) = 10

My way of showing interest

Weapon skill (WS): to fight in melee stats: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (8, 2) + 20 = 30
Ballistic skill (BS): for ranged attacks stats: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (4, 5) + 20 = 29
Strenght (S): bonus to dmg stats: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (9, 6) + 20 = 35
Toughness (T): resistance to dmg stats: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (6, 7) + 20 = 33
Initiative (I): quickness to react stats: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (10, 5) + 20 = 35
Agility (AG): Natural athletiscm stats: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (10, 3) + 20 = 33
Dexterity (DEX):ability to perform fine manual tasks stats: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (5, 6) + 20 = 31
Intelligence (INT): easy to understand stats: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (2, 4) + 20 = 26
Willpower (WP): resistance to influence, magical or mundane stats: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (7, 5) + 20 = 32
Fellowship: (FEL): your social skills stats: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (10, 3) + 20 = 33

Thats mostly plot reasonable for Corporal Carrot Ironaxeson

Only one stat below 30 is nice, and while the corporal is quite resistant to mental influence, he did hit his head a lot on the low dwarfen ceilings during his upbringing.

Things are starting to pick up...

I put a few more informations in the Campaign info tab. For those who don't know the universe of Warhammer Fantasy, the Empire is a feudal world, with Emperor Karl-Franz at its head.
The society is changing, gunpowder exist but magic too (mundane and divine). Nobility is clinging on its power, but a rising class of merchants is sometimes more powerful.

Money, as always, is easier to come to those who are already rich. The poor survive as they can, and some turn to crime, some to adventure (which, to the eyes of those in authority, is suspiciously most of the same..)

There are mostly humans in the Empire, then some dwarves and halflings. Elves are rare, but not unknown.
For human, Reiklander (the heart of the Empire) first names sounds German (Franz, Karl, Friedrich,Lukas, Otto, Gertrud, Erika and so on..), the second name is usually your trade (Bauer for farmer, Fleisher for butcher and so on) or a physical trait (Lang for Tall, Stark for Strong...)

Here an aid to create your characters: Character creation

I am off or the next few days - if no pregens, I can start taking a look at the character creation rules next week. Seems like a lot of work for a character who might be dead in the first fight :)

Since everyone's rolling....

Species: 1d100 ⇒ 47 Human! +20xp!
Career: 1d100 ⇒ 7 Priest! +50xp!

WS: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (3, 1) + 20 = 24
BS: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (2, 7) + 20 = 29
S: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (1, 9) + 20 = 30
T: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (8, 9) + 20 = 37
Init: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (2, 8) + 20 = 30
AG: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (2, 3) + 20 = 25
DEX: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (4, 1) + 20 = 25
INT: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (8, 2) + 20 = 30
WILL: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (1, 1) + 20 = 22
FEL: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (2, 8) + 20 = 30

Hmm, seems Shallya's mercy isn't a thing anymore....but I'll take those rolls. + 50xp!

Some answers on a separate post:

@Critzible: you're right, its an Halfling Engineer. You'll have 70 XP so far

@Seth86: not too bad, some very high rolls (16 to 19) and only one low (5). You have 25 XP if you choose the order of your rolls

@Grumbaki: Nice to see you again! I remember something like Shallya's mercy in an older edition (switching a low score for a 30), but not in this one. But you can roll again or simply divide 100 points between the 10 characteristics for no creation XP.

@Liliyashanina: good rolls! So you're keeping a human guard as race and career?50 XP at creation for the characteristics but none for race or career.

@Albion: send me a PM if you have some preferences (prefered race and Class or all random), I'll create a character for you if you want!

I'm fine with 25xp

Just want to know if you're allowing Lustria and Skinks?

Love to eventually get my skink mounted

Good to see you again as well. :)

I’ll see if I can dig up my old rule book, or failing that find one online so I can do this properly. :)

And yes playing too many editions makes things blur together.

I’m also dreaming up a slayer. Which is just so Warhammer…

Basic concept:

Lost his eye in battle. Withdrew from the shield wall to join the wounded. The battle was lost, with the throng retreating under pressure. Nobody blames him, but his brother died while he was gone. He can’t stop blaming himself even though he logically knows that he did not personally cause the death or the loss.

He left his home, heading into the empire. He has taken up the job of being a pit fighter. Not only because he is good at it, but because it is the closest thing he has to punishing himself for the loss. He knows that if he takes the slayer oath, then he will be publicly taking responsibility for something that nobody believes is his fault. But the pain of fighting in the pits is the next best thing.

He is a dwarf who teeters on the edge of becoming a slayer. Whether he finds purpose in his self imposed exile, or slips into doom seeking, is a question that is up to fate and fortune.

——

Thinking through this…it seems more interesting than a slayer. Because he doesn’t have to be suicidal but he is on the path to it. And it gives more opening for the character to grow with the story. He doesn’t have to die, he doesn’t have to hate himself. And he might just die a stupid random death anyways. So…Warhammer.
