I am new to the play by post format, and was wondering if anyone would be interested in forming a casual, short-form game to help me learn the basics. Would prefer PF1, PF2, or D&D5.

I got a system for teaching people how to play pf2 while creating a character. Could run you through it on these boards as well as anyone else who wants to try it. You'll end up going through some mini scenarios and end with a level 1 character.

Evindyl and I made our playtest characters (Commander and Guardian respectively) in this manner. Was a lot of fun, and collaborative at that.

When you have a chance DT, I would take Stargin up on his offer; the process really opened my eyes to a few aspects of PF2 and like Wolf said, it was really fun.
My only other advice as a long long long term gamer is to let PF1 go; not saying there aren't instances where the system is used, but looking backwards is really only going to inhibit your progress.
Good luck!
I've played two, very short and incomplete PF2 adventures on this board. I'd also be interested in getting a better handle on PF2, if that opportunity is available.
If I'm butting in where I'm not wanted, no worries about telling me to butt right back out.
Hmm, might this be a certain fellow Ascension player, who I spoke with at length last night? If so, best of luck, and welcome to the boards!!
If not, also heckin good luck!
If it helps me understand the system better, I am down to run through as well! ^_^
Thanks so much for the kind words Evindyl and Oceanshieldwolf. Really means a lot to have provided a good time to players.
It seems we have three people so far? That's enoughI think but I'll check in on Monday to see if there are any others interested.
(I'm not much for weekend posting, fair warning!)
Same. Weekdays are easier for me too...
While I have played some Pathfinder 2E, every now and then I find myself messing up a bit on something basic. So maybe I would be a better player if I went back to basics so to speak. If allowed I'd like to give this a try as well, besides, sometimes a 'level zero' kind of situation is just fun

Ok we have
Drunken Turtle
Andostre
Aeshuura

That's pretty good. I think.

Would you mind having a completely sub-optimal PC along for the ride?

If, when you guys are done, you want to run a longer PF2 game, I am down for running a additional table. LMK when the level zero run is complete.

Let's do it. I'll try and start up tomorrow.
DM Doctor Evil, what kind of game are you looking to run? Might even tailor the character creation towards that theme!
I hope DrunkenTurtle is still around and watching this thread as they're the one who started this ;)

I am down for most anything, but would prefer to run Rise of the Runelords, Crimson Throne, or Age of Ashes all for PF2.
If you have suggestions, I will consider.
I have a soft spot for Rise of the Runelords and Crimson Throne. Don't know much about the Age of Ashes...
I have been looking for something akin to Jade Regent, or aftermath thereof, but that can always wait, if no one is interested...
My unasked for two cents ;)
I have never played, even in part, Age of Ashes before, but whatever works for GM Stargin and DM Doctor Evil is fine with me.

Would prefer PF1, PF2, or D&D5. Hey DrunkenTurtle! GM Stargin sent us all a Private Message with a link to the thread where he's doing the character creation exercise. I was thinking that since you're new to these forums, you may not know about this feature.
At the top right corner of your screen, where it says "My Account," you may see a red dot next to that. The dot means that you have an unread Private Message. Hover over "My Account" to open the menu, and click "Private Messages."
That's for if you're viewing on a desktop browser. It's similar if you're on mobile, but I can't remember if a mobile browser has the red dot or not.
