So 2 5e
I have almost all the 2e books. But I am not opposed to puttinf the Monk, Barbarian, and Ninja in 2e as well as guns [as I love a Mighty fortress]
For 5e I would keep it to core races, classes [+ Artificer and Blood Hunter] and most archtypes. Basically the core
I am good with any, but 5e or 2e pathfinder are probably my picks, given I have little experience with any of the modules you mean here, and I have faith based on interactions with some of ya'll in other recruitments that this will be a fun and interesting game.

As for 2e and story you can have a great story moments. And with the splat books you get even more fun options!!!
I just will have to do something to make 5e a bit more deadly
Either way, I'm down to play. I like this idea for the tiefling fighter I have, and I only push for 5e cuz I've never done a rune knight. But don't let that change too much, since I can always make a new character and backstory.

I have recently joined an AD&D2e game, and with splatbooks, kits and Player’s Options books, it can get pretty crunchy.
I am not very experienced with 5e, but I am convinced if you restrict the options to only the Core rulebook, the game will become more dangerous right away. You also have a few simple options in the DMG to make the game more hardcore. Don’t remember off the top of my head, but I think they limit the frequency of short rests and such.
Regardless of the system, there is always the option to just run a prequel type of adventure, no strings attached, a possibility (but no guarantees) of continuity if it turns out to be interesting for all? Straight up plot hook (caravan guard, job advert, group hired to do X, out adventurimg), simple characters without a need for 200 Pages of background, something you can just start playing sooner rather than later. And since this is PbP you don’t really to do that much preparation in advance.
Gives you a chance to ‘test drive’ the system, grow character relations organically in play, build up for something longer or whatever works (if the group and you are so inclined), but also to get a notion of what the players are looking for, and if it matches what you want for the game. If it doesn’t, well, no harm, no foul. Friends as before. If it does, maybe they get to Hommlet at the end of the prequel?
Now I will say what people always say, because it is wise and always worth repeating - what do YOU feel hyped to play/run Critzible? ;)

Good question. I would really love to do a Hackmaster 4e, but I am not comfortable with DMing it.
Im gonna read on 5e options for making 5e a bit gritter.
Optimally Id love to do a Second Edition DnD run.But I know alot of people arent fans of THAC0
So right now if I cant find a good 5e Grit Ill go with Gesalt Pathfinder 1e
